Happy New Year – 1st January means it’s my annual bloopers and outtakes post!
Are we all a little bit glad 2021 is over? I think we were all glad when 2020 ended, and we (rather naively) thought that everything would be different come 2021. But although we had a vaccine come along (thank god!) I think we all realised that we’ll be living with Covid for several years at least. I think this year means we’ll all still be hoping for more normality – but with a little more realism and less of the naivety than we had 12 months ago.
So here’s to better things. And as it happens, my annual bloopers and outtakes post (this is my 10th!) always comes every year like clockwork on New Year’s Day so that’s perfect for hopefully cheering everyone up.
If you’ve never seen this post before, I warn you: it’s not pretty.
But it’s also pretty funny.
[Reading time: 4 mins]
Whilst I WILL admit that I am – like most of us – one for choosing the best photos of me to go on the blog and on social media, I don’t hold back when it comes to the bloopers and outtakes. You’re seeing the best of the worst.
And as this is my 10th bloopers post (where on EARTH has the time gone?), I thought I should recap a bit and throw in one blooper for each previous year. It made sense as outfit posts were thinner on the ground in 2021; family circumstances have been difficult and time was in short supply for me last year. But I’m planning for that to change in 2022… I HAVE to if I want the blog to survive (and I REALLY do)!
Happy New Year everyone π
Which outtake is your favourite… tell me in the comments (and here’s wishing us all a half decent 2022)!
Stay safe XOXO
My 2021 fashion blogger bloopers and outtakes
1. The one where it was like being in an old-school passport booth
You know what I mean – you’re waiting for the picture to be taken and you wonder why it’s not working. (I control the camera with my phone via remote which I always put on the floor.) You lean forward to check out what’s wrong, and BAM – it takes the photo. So here’s a shot of my back and my arse. Original post >>
2. The one where I’m trying to read my phone without my glasses
Yeah I’m wearing glasses, but these are just tinted sunglasses, not my prescription glasses. So operating the remote is a challenge without them and OF COURSE I have to pull a face to prove that. Original post >>
3. The one where I’m in a world of my own
Are you sensing a theme here? I seem to have developed the skill of taking shots when I don’t mean to. Original post >>
4. The one where I hid my face from the embarrassment
Taking your own photos with a tripod and remote is a constant merry-go-round of the shot being taken at the wrong moment. Original post >>
5. The one where I look thoroughly cheesed off
You wouldn’t think I really enjoyed my job, would you? On days where it’s meant to be warm and sunny (like here in May) but instead there’s a freezing wind I probably don’t that much… Original post >>
6. The one where I’m looking at my phone AGAIN
I think I may as well give up and do all my photos with me just looking at my phone. It’d save time trying to get them right, that’s for sure. Original post >>
7. The one where I was photobombed by Generic Bearded Guy
If we’re going to shoot on a busy London street then it’s to be expected. Original post >>
8. The one where I was probably still talking too much
Even working with a pro photographer didn’t mean I was immune to the odd “caught talking” shot (or two or ten). Or am I stifling a laugh? Original post >>
9. The one where I kept going What? I can’t hear you…
We’re on a cruise ship, music is blaring out everywhere, and I was told I had to stand in a very specific way to not look awkward in the shot. Having your photographer shout directions at you from a balcony in those conditions was, erm… challenging. Original post >>
10. The one where I’m thinking about the size of my…
Was that what I was thinking? Or was I just showing off my manicure and bracelets? Original post >>
11. The one where I looked perfect except for one thing
It really takes it out of you to party hard at the age of 49. It was long past my bedtime at this point – probably 11:30 pm-ish and I’d had about =eek!= two cocktails #Lightweight. No wonder I look tired and/or pissed as a fart. Original post >>
✷ ✷ ✷ ✷ ✷
So there we have the outtakes of last year (yes, 2021 is now “last year”!) – and as I celebrated 10 years of blogging in 2021 then I thought I should look back over all the bloopers I’ve featured. There were SO many funny ones I’ve left out, but I’ve picked out a favourite from each year.
If you decide to click through and check out all the others from any particular year (or all of them?!) then I apologise for the time-suck… they are worth it though!
10 years of Not Dressed As Lamb bloopers and outtakes… the best of the best!
2012: The one where a bee attacked me
Was it a bee that flew in my face? I’ll never know. See all the 2011/2012 bloopers here >>
2013: The one where I attempted to keep warm
Jumping up and down on the spot to combat the cold (and blowing a raspberry always helps, of course). See all the 2013 bloopers here >>
2014: The one where my itch wouldn’t wait
Some itches just have to be scratched right on the spot. See all the 2014 bloopers here >>
2015: The one where a plane flew overhead really low
And scared the c**p out of me. See all the 2015 bloopers here >>
2016: The one where I did an impression of a crazy jumping woman
Jumping shots always produce some of the funniest outtakes – and this shoot was no exception. Crazy, crazy, crazy. See all the 2016 bloopers here >>
2017: The one where I felt really bloated after Christmas
Oh, I remember feeling very, very full here – I think we were taking photos just after another huge meal at my parents’ house and it was still very soon after The Christmas Bloat. See all the 2017 bloopers here >>
2018: The one where Riley spectacularly stole my thunder
I mean, could he LOOK any more regal and BE any more in my way? He also looks incredibly smug about how beautiful he is, though it’s justified. See all the 2018 bloopers here >>
2019: The one where the wind nearly knocked me off my feet
EVERY bloopers post needs at least one wind outtake, and this is a corker. I actually remember Keith laughing as soon as he took the shot, knowing it was one for 1st January the following year. See all the 2019 bloopers here >>
2020: The one where I was possessed by an invisible demon
Either possessed, or batting away something that made me (literally) need eyes in the back of my head. See all the 2020 bloopers here >>
Pin for later!

Ha ha ha … I especially liked your being possessed by a demon π
I have what I call “Angela Merkel Face” – it pops up from time to time (I don’t do selfies in general and only have taken a few so far, but Angie features quite often in them…) and makes me laugh (nothing against Angela Merkel at all, but I do love laughing and if I laugh at myself, no one gets insulted).

That was a good one, wasn’t it Alcessa π
I’m not really sure what “an Angela Merkel face” is… I might have to Google pictures of her to see if there’s a face she pulls that I’ve not noticed before – dying to know what it is!!
How I love these posts! It’s great when we don’t take ourselves too seriously, isn’t it? I must say, your older blooper pics are quite wild, aren’t they? LOL!!! I love the one where the wind nearly knocked you over, that’s freaking hilarious! And the one with the bearded bloke in shot really made me laugh. I love your expression!
Happy New Year, Catherine!

Hehe thanks Suzy… I know how you always love these every year!! The wind one of 2019 is in my top 3 favourites ever I think π
Where to begin? Still in stiches. π
But can totally relate. Especially when it comes to the remote. Don’t you just hate that darn stubborn thing?
I think my alltime fave outfit will have to be No. 5. Would totally steal it from you.
And thanks for the inspiration. I think it was time for me to collect some bloopers as well. It’s been a while.
Happy New Year 2022. All the best to you and your family and Riley, of course!

Thanks Sabina! My “remote” is actually on my phone so it’s impossible to hide… makes it harder when you have to keep putting it on the floor!!
And Riley is no longer with us unfortunately… he went over the rainbow bridge back in 2019 – we have his sister Suki the greyhound now and she’s just as adorable – she’s just not a fan of the camera!
I like the random bearded- guy photo bomb best!β€οΈ
Author
Hehe thanks Jeanne – totally unaware π
These are always so funny! Shooting with a remote is so hard; I never quite mastered that skill. I still just love that one with Riley where he’s saying ‘Make sure you get me from my good side’.
Author
Ohhhhh Riley was the best when it came to photo shoots, Lisa! He was drawn like a moth to a flame to the camera…! <3
7 & 10 cracked me up!! You looked perfect in 7 & BAM! Lol! Did he not see the photographer? Lol. I look forward to reading your blogs in 2022. Love your humor!
Author
Thank you so much Susan…! As I mentioned to Lynn in the comments, my photographer was shooting from the other side of the street with a long lens so a lot of people and traffic were passing between us. It would have actually been hard to see someone with a camera and connected them with taking photos of me, we were not at all near each other, lol! π
Happy New Year! I wish you a healthy and joyful one! And looking forward to read new posts by you. Always love the bloopers of course!
Author
Aww thanks Nancy, HNY to you too π
I am completely here for the bloopers sweetie, you look amazing in them!

Thanks Danielle – I’m not sure about looking amazing though…!! hehe
So funny. I love it. I have also have my bloopers in the first post of the year.
Happy new year Catherine
Author
Thanks Tina – glad I’m not the only one who keeps all the bad shots π
They are always funny. Thank you Catherine. But I will say, your 2021 bloopers are mild compared to other years haha.
Happy New Year.

Hehe thanks Greetje… yes I think I’d agree with you – when you take your own photos it’s easier to get the right shot as you (usually) know when the shot is being taken, and having a pro photographer does mean I mess about less (even if we HAVE known each other for 30 years)… I guess Keith gets the brunt of my moods and misbehaviour when he does my photos!!! π
Oh, there’s some lovely (!) ones in that series. Bless you for sharing them.
“…weβre going to shoot on a busy London street then itβs to be expected. ”
If there’s an image that sums up 2021 and why we need a bit more thought about others, I think it’s this. Would it have really affected the guy to have given you a moment to finish, or even ask if you were nearly done?
On another note, happy new year and wishing you luck and fabness for the months ahead.
Author
Thanks Lynn, glad you enjoyed them!
To be fair to Bearded Guy, I was on one side of the street and Giles was shooting from the other side with a long lens – so lots of traffic and people were passing between us. It wasn’t a major road – more of a side street – but unless someone was specifically looking for someone with a camera it would have looked like there was a woman just posing in a doorway wearing tons of sequins, LOL!
(But normally if I’m shooting with someone outside with people passing and it’s obvious what we’re doing, most people are really polite and either go round or wait – but we always tell them to go past as I think they think we’re taking just one photo, it’s a case of “We’re gonna be here a while”!!!)
