Drum roll please: It’s the annual Not Dressed As Lamb fashion blogger bloopers and outtakes post, featuring the very worst (rather than the very best) of my blog!
And before I forget: Happy New Year, you lovely lot…!
It may be only once a year but I love this post above all others, usually because I sit laughing my head off whilst writing it (and yes, I know that’s pretty much like laughing at your own jokes but I do that too, so I guess I’m allowed).
As always you will see that fashion bloggers – or at least definitely not this fashion blogger – are not the elegant, sophisticated, photogenic creatures you think they are… I couldn’t be further from that description, judging by these pictures.
I’m mostly pulling hideous faces, or gurning, or standing in the most unflattering way, or battling bad weather – or all of the above. I have the usual photobombers who try to outdo themselves each year. All in all I think it’s safe to say this was a vintage year for Not Dressed As Lamb: I may have won a blogging award in 2016 but they didn’t see the hard work I put into getting these bloopers just right for your entertainment each year. My dedication amazes even me 😉
Be warned: This is a photo-heavy post (32 bloopers!), but boy are they worth it – like any Marvel film you have to stick around right till the very end…
WHICH WAS YOUR FAVOURITE OUTTAKE? TELL ME IN THE COMMENTS (AND HERE’S WISHING YOU A VERY FRUITFUL, HAPPY AND HEALTHY 2017)
1. The one where the wind was being an a***hole
All fashion bloggers know this: The wind is an a***hole. It’s official. Original post >>
2. The one where I got my groove on
I think I was in my own little world, playing funky music in my head whilst waiting for my cue to pose. Original post >>
3. The one where my hair looked like horns
Told you the wind is an a***hole. I’m supposed to have a fringe in this picture, not a quiff. Original post >>
4. The one where my five-year-old great nephew made me laugh
This happens several times a year – because of his devotion to his great uncle (my husband), he’ll insist on accompanying us on a photo shoot with us when he’s around. He ended up wanting to do some leaping shots with me so we usually do a set of those just for him. Bless 😍 Original post >>
5. The one where I’d lost my teeth
I was so annoyed when I got to the location and realised my teeth were still in the glass of water next to the bed…! 😜 I really don’t know what’s happening here except for that pesky wind rearing its ugly head again – it’s the only explanation for that look of pain on my face. Original post >>
6. The one where the wind changed and my face stayed like it
If your mother ever told you not to pull faces because the wind will change and your face will stay like it, she was right. My face stayed like that over the course of three photo shoots (proof coming up). More evidence to show the wind’s tendency to be an a***hole. Original post >>
7. The one where a stone got me in the rear
Trying to find a comfy spot on that pebble beach was not an easy task – more than one pointy stone got me in the jacksy. Original post >>
8. The one where I thought I was in West Side Story
Give me a large empty space between some industrial units and I’m dancing like the Jets and the Sharks are going out of fashion (which, of course, they never will). Original post >>
9. The one where my hair did an impression of a helicopter
My hair often has a life of its own – here my bob is demonstrating its aeronautical capabilities. Original post >>
10. The one where I was really, really fed up with the weather
Not sure I could look any more miserable than I did here. Windy, raining, cold. Roll on summer. Original post >>
11. The one where the husband told me to try some new poses
Apparently my poses were becoming a bit “samey”, so I tried some new ones. Cara Delevingne had better watch out, her job is at risk. Original post >>
12. The one where I’m NOT saying what you think I’m saying
Hand on heart, this is NOT what it looks like. We were discussing the camera’s aperture settings, and I was shouting “f2! You need f2!” Honestly…! Original post >>
13. The one where I had to Photoshop out a couple of things
Although I don’t use Photoshop to ‘alter’ my appearance per se, there are occasionally times that those rules have to be broken. Let’s just say I was shooting a Spring outfit in February/March and I was freezing. Original post >>
14. The one where my finger got stuck in my ear
Why is it when you get an itchy ear you can’t scratch it without pulling a face at the same time? Original post >>
15. The one where I took “Look surprised!” too far
Drama was never my strong point. Subtle as a brick, me. Original post >>
16. The one where I really wanted to finish and go home
My face says it all: I’m cold, I’m wet, I’m fed up, I want to go home. No more “one last shot”, thank you very much. Original post >>
17. The one where I confirmed I was okay
Yep, my enthusiasm knows no bounds. (There’s that face again when the wind changed.) Original post >>
18. The one where the midges were trying to kill me
I’m at a wedding, I’m all dressed up, I’m even wearing a hat(ish), and the damn midges won’t leave me alone to do a quick photo shoot. I already looked weird to most of the guests who were looking over (why does she get her own photo shoot as well as the bride)? – this didn’t help. Original post >>
19. The one where I defied gravity
I have no idea how I managed to look like I was leaning this far over. And yes, I did eventually fall over. Original post >>
20. The one where I didn’t see the cat photobombing the picture
This lump of gorgeous feline fluffiness is the cat that visits my husband’s place of work, otherwise known (to me) as his “work wife”. She’s determined to monopolise his attention the whole time. Original post >>
21. The one where I tried a new style of walking
This photo shoot turned out to be a bit of a diamond where outtakes were concerned: We decided we were bored with my usual “walking across the frame” shot so I tried something different. Continuous shooting was made for creating GIFs, right? Original post >>
22. The one where I just didn’t know
I don’t know what I didn’t know here. Except I do know that the wind had made my face stick for a third time. Original post >>
23. The one where the stinging nettles got me
Stinging nettles, brambles, they all got me that day. I’m just amazed I didn’t fall head-first into them, I’m that clumsy. Original post >>
24. The one where the wind was REALLY scaring me
This one makes me laugh… You know when the weather is so horrible it just makes you go What the WHAT at it? That. Original post >>
25. The one where I felt something stuck in my teeth
Ooh, I looked so glamorous. And then I felt some food leftover from lunch in my teeth: Not so glamorous. Original post >>
26. The one where I was helping the husband with his focusing
I was really trying to help, honestly. Look at the concentration on my face. Original post >>
27. The one where my feet looked ridiculous
I have to be careful when photographing these ghillie shoes so that they don’t look like long weird clown shoes or pied piper shoes (😱). In other words, don’t stand like this. Original post >>
28. The one where my nieces thought they’d do lunges in their slippers
As I always say to friends and family: If you don’t want to be in my annual bloopers and outtakes post, don’t photobomb the picture. Unfortunately it’s now backfired and it’s their aim to actually get on the blog on January 1st. Original post >>
29. The one where I looked like a lunatic
I. Have. No. Words. [Pause.] None. Original post >>
30. The one where I was getting really bored
I don’t know if I was bored while waiting for the husband to get the settings right on the camera or if I was just boring myself with my poses, but I was bored. Original post >>
31. The one where he said “Show me the bag”
Was that not how I was supposed to show it off? Original post >>
32. The one where I did an impression of a crazy jumping woman
Jumping shots always produce some of the funniest outtakes – and this shoot was no exception. Crazy, crazy, crazy. Original post >>

Glad you liked them Yvonne – hope you check out the 2018 ones too! x
I was smiling hard at all of these, and then I came to 'jacksy' and just lost it. I was laughing so hard my OH asked me what was so funny. I met you (briefly) last year at the 30 Plus Awards and you struck me with your poise and elegance. I like you even more now I see you pull a great 'derp' face with the best of us! I used to do regular blooper posts a few years ago and this has inspired me to do some more. xx

Hilarious, love it! Thanks for sharing and showing this particularly humorous side of blogging!
Always a laugh out loud might actually do a little wee in my pants post! And as for the wind? I hear that Sister ffs!!!!
Love ya loonie xxx
I LOVE this post. So relatable, I have so many outfit bloopers, particularly my kids photo bombing the pics. Thanks for hosting Yvadney @ Mums That Slay x #SaurdayShareLinkUp

Number 6 is my favourite. Number 9 is just lovely, helicopter or not. Cannot even recognise you in number 10. Number 12: Yes I did think you said what you didn't say haha. Number 21 is hilarious. And 29 and 30 had me in stitches too.
Great post as usual.
If you want to laugh over a blooper photo of mine, go to my blogpost of January 1. At the bottom of the post is me looking like the exorcist haha.
Happy New Year dear Catherine.

These bloopers made my night! Hilarious! My kids take my photos, so I end up with more bloopers than ones that work, LOL! But, I have to say, those are my favorites…I love the one where you are bored…and the wind, I gotta hand it to you for putting up with all that weather! Thanks for sharing the fun and Happy 2017
XOXO

I do the "helicopter hair look" on purpose. A cat is never a photo bomb, but a cool accessory. The"show me the bag" looks like you have to pee and there is an infinity queue in front of all stalls. LOL. It looks like your photo challenge is wind. Mine are double digits subzero temperatures and low sun zenith angles. To be honest, I prefer the frigid cold, dry, dark over the windy, wet, cool any time.
I'm dying laughing here! Thanks so much for this. I'm going to read your blog much more often in 2017. Happy New Year to us all. )
As always, your annual "bloopers" post was SO worth the wait!! Number 11 is me exactly when Robin says the same thing – "I've seen that pose 10 times already!" – but then he gets mad and tells me I'm not taking it seriously!! And Numbers 10 and 16…cold, wet, and ready to go home?? I was just there about a half hour ago; we've had yet another snowfall in Vancouver, and I got hit in the ear by a flying clump of the white stuff when the wind blew it out of a tree!! Would have been a priceless photo, I'm sure…but my hubby had already high-tailed it to the car by then!! Love and best wishes for the New Year to you and Keith, dearest Catherine!! XOXO

I totally laughed out loud at #31! However, most of the time I'm thinking just that you are adorable and I love the outfits.
Happy New Year Catherine! Have a great 2017.
So many laughs in this post. 2,6,11 and 22 are my favourites. Xx
Another great selection of out takes from your year of blogging, I'm sure many people would rather not post pictures like this but I think it's great that you do and it shows that you have a real sense of humour. I can't wait to see the next lot next year.
I love the new style of walk…I'm going to try that one! Happy New Year!

Hahahaha!!! I so look forward to these, Catherine!! Love the wee clips best, I really think you ought to take your new struts and walking poses to the next level, i.e., create a movie of it!!! MUACK.

In No. 7 you're definitely chanelling Kenneth Williams, in fact, there's a whole "Oooooh, Matron!" storyline in there 🙂 Happy New Year, Catherine, I hope it's glorious on and off the blog.
