I know Christmas is probably the LAST thing anyone wants to talk about right now, but I’m just a little bit behind that’s all…!
Although not quite my first blog post of the year – that accolade belongs to my 2020 bloopers and outtakes post from 1st January – but this feels like the first post proper. Back to my posting schedule, back to my daily routine, back on top of my Inbox, back posting to Instagram. Also, Blue Monday is over with for yet another year (it was yesterday and I have to admit I didn’t even notice?).
I think we need to pretend/imagine that the beginning of January 2021 belongs to 2020 and start afresh, so that’s how I’m treating everything from now on.
(Actually the Chinese New Year started on 12 February, so maybe we’ll go with THAT New Year instead, shall we…?)
So this really should have been posted in the week between Christmas and NYE, but I decided to take a long break off over the Christmas period. And I mean a loooooooong break.

The break lasted a whole lot longer than planned, as I underestimated just how exhausted I’d be after one of the busiest periods in my blogging career EVER. I’m not kidding, I think every campaign that I would normally have done over the main lockdown months of March – October 2020 came at me during November and December. And having no work coming in for almost six months meant I really needed the income, as was the case for so many other bloggers.
Therefore THANK YOU for the support you’ve shown me here, on Instagram and with my new Etsy venture Not Lamb Home – I really appreciate it!
Let’s quickly talk Christmas Day outfit: I did the gold, red and white thing. (Doesn’t get more Christmassy than that.) Elasticated waistband for Christmas lunch was a godsend. Still loving the oversized lace collar. Wore my charity shop sweater again, I realise it’s the same thing I wore in my last outfit post – who cares, I love it and you get to see it styled another way!
Talking of styling another way, this time I’ve included 5 ways to wear a metallic pleated maxi skirt (scroll down past my main pics).
Next post will be my part 2 of the Year in Review post for 2020… gird your loins!
Did you dress up for Christmas Day or did you continue with the 2020 theme of sweatpants, sweatpants and more sweatpants? Tell me in the comments…
Stay safe, XOXO
P.S. Do not fear, the heels were worn for about 10 minutes and were promptly replaced by slippers. I like my fashun but I’m not CRAZY…!
Sweater: Charity shop (I like this one)
Top (with collar): Asos
Skirt: JD Williams (old, similar)
Heels: Marks & Spencer (similar)
Headband: Asos (similar)
Watch: Nordgreen*
Eternity ring: Jeulia
Earrings: French Connection (similar)
5 ways to wear a metallic pleated maxi skirt…
Here are some of the other ways I’ve worn my gold pleated maxi so you can see the different ways it can be styled:

I tried to look nice this Christmas but it was hard work with a poorly baby and no family being allowed round. Boo! Here’s to next year.
Loved the outfit!!! Although I must say that sweater looks more pinkish than red. Love the super intense red of the heels!!! I have a thing for res shoes and actually own NONE!!!
I tried to dress a little for Christmas… but my pregnant belly didn’t help. I wanted to wear a sweater dress and thighs but I have no pregnancy thighs and my regular ones didn’t fit so I wore the sweater over jeans, printed jeans to feel more “nice”
Didn’t take a single picture so now I feel like it didn’t happened
This is a cute outfit for Christmas. I love the gold pleated skirt and I’m a fan of the oversized collar trend!
xoxo
Lovely
Christmas Day was comfy for me! I love those delicate little fishnets…so subtle, but with a big impact.
Debbie
You just can’t go wrong with a pleated skirt can you. I have a few to my name, and love how they can be styled so many different times. I’ve just bought a blue and white one for Spring – must think of something other than Covid! Thanks for the #linkup Hun. Jacqui x
Welcome back- and I love the outfit- so pretty!! I’ve never seen flesh-tone fish-nets before; gotta get some now for sure! Have a great rest of the week- and hope to see you on my Friday Linkup xx
I’m glad you took the opportunity to rest up after your busy November. My blog is not monetized and I’m retired, and yet I found I needed some time away too. And what a great Christmas outfit! Lovely!
Michelle
Gold, red, and white is such a great Christmas color combo! Your outfit is lovely!
I hope you are having a great week!
Amber
Welcome back and Happy New Year to you. Looking very nice.
Dare I say that this outfit is so sweet on you? It really is. I love the combo of the stripes with the pleats and of course, the RED shoes! Gird your loins for the next post indeed!! Your tongue in cheek writing so makes me smile!! Glad you got a much-needed rest! And glad you’re back!
xx Darlene
Love this Christmas outfit, especially the lace collar – a lovely touch. Following our brisk walk on Christmas Day, I headed for my pj’s (Christmassy ones) which is unheard of usually – this situation has definitely changed my habits.
Alison
Love your outfits and posts!
Best wishes from Karin in the Netherlands (seriously underdressed by now)
I’m so happy you’re back Catherine but totally understand the extended break. Your outfit is fabulous especially the pleats, adore pleats! Erm my Christmas outfit was track pants
Oh thats a fabulous skirt! Lovely glow!
I’ve just been browsing your shop, Catherine. Very interesting. Keeping my eye on that.
What a fun and imaginative look for the holidays whether your stuck at home or not. And I never realized how versatile a metallic skirt could be! Each of those other outfits is equally as fabulous. Welcome back from your time away.
Rena
I love that collar – must get a few myself (nostalgic for the Diana years). You look like a gorgeous lioness! How wonderful that you’ve gotten all that work, so you sure deserved the rest. Looking forward to seeing your posts more regularly.
And I’d like to hit a re-set button on 2021, please. Let’s just start fresh with January 20th and an adult back in charge over here, please?
I did dress up! But I wasn’t quite as glam as you! We saw no-one but even so I wore a red wool sweater and a black midi wool skirt as we went for a walk before lunch and it was cold!
You look utterly fab – love the skirt and the top with the collar is divine. Thanks for hosting 🙂
And what a fabulous, and very Christmassy outfit it was! Naturally, I love it! I did chuckle though when you said you only wore the heels for about ten minutes. That would be me too lol!
Can’t wait to what you’ve been up to!
Hugs,
Suzy (The Grey Brunette)
Beautiful Christmas outfit, Catherine! I love the metallic skirt and your fun lace collar!
Shelbee
Oooo, like the choices with a metallic pleated skirt. I have a silver velvet one and this helps me think about styling possibilities.
HI Catherine
im behind on putting my decor away! We want to leave the tree up a little longer as I like how it adds to teh mood in the Great Room. Love the metallic color of your skirt and the filly lapel collar is lovely with your sweater.
