A Plain White Roll Neck With Peach and Mustard

Winter style: Peach coat with mustard yellow and white | Not Dressed As Lamb
I’m most definitely continuing this winter’s theme of pastels and brights with this concoction of peach and mustard yellow.

I’m wondering whether I’m subconsciously trying to “outbright” (new made-up word) my previous colourful outfit each time…?

This was one more coat I got in the crazy-reduced sales due to our incredibly mild December. It’s a shame Marks & Spencer never seem to stock enough of anything – whatever I buy seems to go out of stock almost as soon as I’ve clicked on Add to Basket. Or maybe it’s just me, I don’t know.

Winter style: Peach coat with mustard yellow and white | Not Dressed As Lamb

Some of you may think you’ve seen the coat before – I will admit it’s almost identical to the peach jacket I’m wearing in my (now not so) new avatar, but I bought this coat because it meant I had a winter version of that jacket which I absolutely adore. That one is nowhere near warm enough to wear in winter, so I now have a warm weather version and a cold weather version.

So all peach outerwear bases are, essentially, covered…!

Instead of going for darker colours to wear with it (especially as I paired my orange animal print coat with navy), I went for the lovely mustard yellow tailored trousers I first wore a couple of years ago.

A white roll neck is the perfect staple for winter – I would never have believed a few years ago that they’d be back on trend (I wore many fitted roll necks in the 90s), but in a looser fit they look so modern right now. I think the double-breastedness (another made-up word) of the coat with a white roll neck looks really retro – very late 70s/early 80s. In fact, I went with Dynasty-style big backcombed hair on the day that then proceeded to get blown flat by the gale-force winds. Story of my life.

Are you into roll necks – or the trend for all things 70s (midi skirts and boots, patchwork, etc.) – even? Tell me in the comments!

Quite like your new word "outbright" I'm definitely putting it into my vocabulary and wardrobe staple. I love how you mix these pastel colors for your winter attire, it's such a great way to brighten a winter dreary day. I would never have thought to pair mustard with the peach but it works so well.
As for the 70's vibe, I'm kind of liking the roll neck's again, cozy and warm. Can't leave without commenting on those brogues, they are the best!

Thanks so much Trina! I never thought I'd be into roll necks again after wearing them a lot in the 90s, but there you go – another trend rolls around again…!!

Aww thank you Dawn Lucy – you're a sweetheart! x

Such a fabulous coat! I wish I had more space to store coats and justification to actually own multiple coats (it just doesn't get very cold around here). I could add some bold light coats of course…

I really love the colors in this outfit! You always do unique color combos so well!

Couldn't help but notice your comment here, Andrea. I LOVE coats and have so many and how often do we get to wear them in our 'hood? Three months … maybe?!

    • 20 February 2016 / 4:36 pm

You Californian gals don't know how it kills us Brits to hear you don't really get a chance to wear coats… WAHHHHHHHHH!!!! hehe I'm only joking, though seriously I just can't imagine getting a SUMMER with heat and sunshine, let alone any other time of the year! Though I do love my coats so maybe I'd miss them if I lived in perpetual summer.

      Then again, maybe not…!

thank you Andrea my lovely 😉 xx

Man…between you & Samantha, I feel like my closet should have more brogues!! And how wonderful that yours are touted as the blogger's choice from your site!
On a technical note…I realized about one/two weeks ago that I wasn't getting your emails so I signed up again (could have used a different email—can't quite remember. But I know this last time was jodie@jtouchofstyle.com and I verified it. And I still didn't get this one (I found it on bloglovin'). I checked spam and everything, but I do get the linkup announcements. Any ideas besides craziness with the computer electrons? jodie

Hi Jodie, I'm not too sure whether you're referring to my newsletter or the individual posts by email – you've sort of mentioned both in what you've said…? You said you "verified it" – which would indicate you're talking about the newsletter – but then you said you "didn't receive this post" which would indicate you're talking about subscribing by email…?

I've checked the mailing list for my newsletter – you're definitely subscribed to that (last one was emailed 24/01/16). I'm not sure how to check whether you've subscribed to the posts by email, so best to try that one again (see "Subscribe by email, under Google Plus followers).

Let me know which one you meant…! x

    • 21 February 2016 / 3:53 pm

Sorry I was confusing. So I added my email to the subscribe by email and we'll see if that works. Hard to remember exactly what I did before (I thought I did this), but my hope is to get an email when a new post goes out? Unless that's not how it works? Thanks for checking!! I do get the #iwillwearwhatiwant link up is live on mondays. jodie

Ah okay so yes – now that you've "subscribed by email" you should (in theory!) get an email each time there's a new post. Next one will be the link up tomorrow at 3pm (UK time) – hopefully it'll work!! xx

Yay for the roll neck, Yay for the colour combination and YAY for those shoes!
Of course I am a fan of the roll neck…perfect for keeping warm and so cool just now.
I wear them every winter but I do love it when they are "on trend".
This white, mustard and peach combo is gorgeous….and those brogues…Hello my lovelies!
Did I mention I have an almost identical pair?!?!? :oP
For me, this outfit is perfection.
    Right up my street.
I would pop on a pair of colourful socks…mustard to match the trousers or maybe a metallic, but only because my ankles could not handle it!
I know you are a warm footed person (I envy you!)
Your Catherine bag is a perfect compliment.
Of course you know it pulls your hair into the palette and makes it an extra accessory…you don't need me to tell you that BUT I thought you might appreciate the fact that these things don't go unnoticed.

Aww Samantha thank you my lovely!! Yes I think you maybe mentioned your brogues on Instagram… That means you're ready for the metallics theme for Monday's link up!!

And I chose that bag to be named Catherine after me (thanks to the lovely Rachel the Hat who owns Yosa) as I knew it'd match my hair – tan always goes with any outfit I wear as it'll always match me barnet, if nothing else…! Not just a pretty face, me!!!!! (haha joking) xx
