If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen the selfie I took on the day I wore this. I mentioned the fact that I’d succumbed to the 90s black choker revival – something I thought “Please, no…!” about when I first saw they were back in fashion. In the early 90s (during my student days) I had many variations of the black choker which were mostly DIY versions made of narrow strips of velvet or ribbon. I attached a coin with sentimental value to one of them, and duly lost it. Gutted.
I honestly thought I wouldn’t be partaking in this trend second time around, but I’ve loved Disney’s classic Cinderella since I was tiny and of course she wore one. It’s that look that I think of more than an early 90s grungefest when I see black chokers, and when I saw this pretty floral one (rather than the plastic tattoo version) reduced in New Look down to only two quid I took a chance. (It’s not available online but you may find it in store.)
Basically – I like it, and I’m not ashamed to admit it. I liked the contrast of wearing it with preppy pieces: Breton stripes, chinos, headband and loafers. (That list couldn’t sound any more preppy if it tried!) So it goes to show that even if you’re sworn off a trend revival – particularly one that you wore first time around – you shouldn’t rule it out completely and at least give it a go.
But if I start talking about wearing platform Buffalo trainers like the Spice Girls wore, please intervene immediately…!!
Are there any trend revivals that you’re sworn off completely? Or is there anything you’re secretly hoping will come back into fashion? Do share in the comments!

You can never go wrong with chokers. And no matter what trend comes, a woman always looks gorgeous in jewelry. You look too pretty in pink, and this leather bag makes you gross.

Thank you Naomi! x
Ah how I loved these chokers in the 90s! My fave was black with a massive gold heart pendant on it. Alas, I feel I now lack the length of neck to pull them off, so this is a 90s trend I will admire from afar!
I have to admit I reeeeeeeeeeally wasn't keen when they first came back, Emily… I have no clue why I changed my mind?!!
I say YES to black chockers, I think I once had a collection. Love how you paired the unexpected and the pink pants , fab. Two redheads in pinktoday! Looking great my friend!
Thanks for linking up with Turning Heads Tuesday!

Aww thanks Jess – I do like to mix it up a bit…!!
Not sure I'll be wearing a choker but I love, love, love the contrast between the pink and red in your outfit. Gorgeous! Lorraine x
Thank you Lorraine – pink and red is always a winner for me :))
I love the mix of something preppy with something dark. I was not a fan of chokers in the 90s, something about something choking my neck just freaks me out.

Would love for you to stop by & join TBT Fashion link up.
I have to admit I did fiddle with it quite a lot for that reason, Alice! Glad you liked the contrast, thank you xx
It's all good…I see nothing wrong with these trends returning! And you look fab! jodie

Aww Jodie thank you! x
Hi Catherine,
I dislike the rule (who writes these rules anyway???) that if you wore a trend the first time around then you should avoid it the second.
I think that if women like something then they should wear it, regardless, and never feel the need to apologise for the fact it's their second bite of the cherry!
You look cute and cheeky in this outfit.
And, if you want to wear to wear those platform buffalo's then do it….erm…. okay maybe a step too far BUT I did have a similar pair in the 1990's and loved them.

No no no, Samantha – not the Buffalo trainers… An intervention will be required if I even HINT that I might wear them!! ;))
Thank you for your kind comments as always sweetie, I appreciate them!
I love that the chockers are back. I was a bit to young (or maybe just to shy) to wear them last time they where around. But now i have two black and one pink one. I like the pink one the most since it's really subtile.
A trend I feel that I don't need to se again is the one where teens but a lot of rubber hairbands around their legs so their jens would become tigther. But I think that only existed in Sweden. And the coolest guys even had differnt colored rubberbands and spiked hair to it. Wierd I tell you. /love Ida
Another choker fan, Ida!!
I have to admit I have *never* heard of that trend you described, it sounds absolutely bizarre…!! You did say it was weird?!
