22 Unmissable Reads, The Best of the Blogosphere (October 2021)

The Best of the Blogosphere (October 2021) Not Dressed As Lamb, Over 40 Fashion and Style Blog

In my Best of the Blogosphere this month I have Anya Taylor-Joy taking tea (plus Adele making it), writing the anatomy of a great story, how to love yourself and more…

Happy Halloween! Soooooo many great links this month – 22 of them in fact.

I’ve very much been into self-care reads this past month or so after my own, somewhat self-destructive, last few months (see here). As was the case with last month’s BOTB, I’m still finding amazing reads within blogs and although there are probably fewer of us [old-school bloggers] now than there was 5-10 years ago, the quality hasn’t diminished.

[Reading time: 3 mins – excluding time down interweb rabbit holes]

I think self-care is a massively important topic right now, so when you throw these reads in with fabulous videos of Anya Taylor-Joy and Adele, great writing as well as how to write great (maybe I need it for my great English right there, lol) and some autumn/Halloweeny stuff (of course), then I hope I’ve given you some marvellous fodder for your Sunday screentime!

Do have a read of these great links – you neeeeeeever know who or what you might discover that makes your day/week/month.

What links did you like – and have you found any fabulous new content creators to follow? Comment below…!

Oh. My. God. Anya Taylor-Joy is a joy to behold (see: Queen’s Gambit), but Anya Taylor-Joy taking on tea with Tatler? It’s next level gorgeousness, sophistication and fascination. As one comment said, “Smart as a whip, stunningly beautiful and just adorable as a fluffy kitten. Seriously, are we sure she’s not a Terminator sent from the future to charm us all to death?

This is a BRILLIANT tool for all bloggers, influencers and content creators: marketing agency Digital Voices has launched Creator Voices, a free tool where someone will personally answer any question you have about brands, sponsorships, content, forming long-term brand relationships, etc. I haven’t used it yet but will as soon as I need to (and almost can’t wait).

Wendy AKA The Inspired Eater talks about the problems with emotional eating (something I need to address right now): “Food was immense comfort to us when we were young, but today the crutch is no longer needed yet we still clamp onto food like Linus with his blankie”.

October is Menopause Awareness Month, so we’re on the last day but Jess’s post is a great place to start if you want to learn more about menopause.

My lovely Suki has been featured in Bored Panda’s cutest dog photos feature and if you have a login please give her a little upvote and comment if you can (she’s currently at #79)!

If you love amazing writing, then check out Elizabeth’s beautiful piece she’s written about memories of being a child and taking a car journey with her mum (trigger warning about Alzheimer’s, just so you know).

And if you want to write as beautifully as Elizabeth yourself, check out this excellent post on the art of storytelling for blogs and the anatomy of a great story.

I’m 100% with Angie on the concept of an outfit being flattering, but not “you”.

Kristin has written a love letter to the colourful 80s and I’m all over it.

Insta expert Vix Meldrew discusses how to change your relationship with Instagram and how to work WITH it, not against it (as she reminds us: it is, after all, a free marketing tool for your business).

I think I feature Keiko every October, and her Alice in Wonderland group costumes for Halloween are just as worthy of inclusion this year.

Tiffany’s talking coats for fall but I’m just gaga over her layered look, and that house is an OMG background for her outfit shoot.

I follow Design Seeds on Bloglovin purely for their colour combinations, and this autumn colour combination based on a single leaf has me salivating.

I adore Liz’s brown gingham and chunky knit outfit (though the UK would demand tights for warmth methinks).

Joy has created a stunning autumnal tabletop and shares her fall tabletop tips.

I’ve been wanting to upcycle furniture with that lovely cane webbing for a while, so Medina’s post about how to add cane webbing to an IKEA Ivar cabinet has already been digested and pinned.

Can we all just stop for a moment and revel in the golden glory that is Jamie’s metallic gold boots?!

Having almost finished cleaning and tidying my home from top to bottom (almost there), I need to heed Shira’s advice for 5 things to ban from your bedroom for a look that’s curated, not cluttered.

We ALL want to watch Adele answering 73 questions with Vogue, don’t we?

To end with, here are three great posts all with a common thread, that being learning to love yourself: Debbie’s Why is it so damn hard to love yourself?, Rachel’s 42 simple tips on how to love yourself more starting today and Imogen’s 11 ways to improve your body image, self-acceptance and your style. All fantastic reads.

Finally… a few Not Dressed As Lamb posts you perhaps missed first time around:

Remember C&A, Tammy Girl and Dolcis? Clothes and Shoe Shops of the Past,
