You may be disappointed that I’m not dressed up as an actual owl ready to play a session at Ronnie Scott’s – sorry about that πŸ˜‰

I still love my pretty blouse I got from eBay last year – though as it’s sheer I either have to layer it or wear it during slightly warmer weather, and on this day it was the latter (unlike this week which has been gorgeously boiling). And it’s the brogues that makes me think of jazz and the 1920s… I have yet to find some better laces for them, the ones that came with them are far too long. More eBay purchasing, methinks!

So I’ll soon be starting my blog sabbatical, and as it was my birthday on Monday I’ve already started enjoying my forties. I have to say I feel somewhat proud to be a 40 year old (like being at school and reaching double figures: What, are you still only nine?? Oh yeah I’m, like, TEN now). It may be weird but I really like it – I guess because I embrace change…! Like changing my name when I got married – I couldn’t wait to be called something else because it’s like taking on a new persona. So that’s why I feel different being 40. It’s cool with me :))

I love the way you paired Brogues with the maxi skirt – I have a pair that I love but I haven't been vary adventurous with how I wear them. Thanks for the inspiration!

I'm glad you feel good about turning 40! I get panicky feelings when I think about turning 30 in two years πŸ™‚

That blouse is so pretty! I'm always afraid to buy clothes off ebay – they don't have free returns like Asos πŸ™‚ You seem to have found some great things on ebay, though, so maybe I should check it out.

This is so fun…it's definitely jazzy but kinda hippie too. It's like a fab mix of the 20s and 70s! Love the bright red.

Love the bright coloured maxi!! You look very pretty.
Btw, I turn to your blog for inspiration on how to incorporate colour to my outfits especially when it's cold(like now in Nairobi).

Ah I love this look Catherine!! I love your red pleated skirt and it looks very chic with navy printed blouse, so pretty. The brogues are my favourite part of the look, they are so unexpected and work in a way that is simply inspiring! πŸ™‚

Take care and hope you are enjoying this beautifully hot weather, Daniella xox
