In my Best of the Blogosphere this month I have Tom Hanks reading nice tweets, amazing space stuff, talking cats* – and more.
[Reading time: 2 mins – not including time spent down any internet rabbit holes!]
*not the musical ones…
(In case you’ve not seen these posts before my Unmissable Reads are a monthly round-up of things I’ve seen, watched and liked in the blogosphere that I’m sure you’ll love too.)
Happy weird-bit-between-Christmas-and-New-Year! I hope you had a fabulous Christmas dinner, played All The Games and got Auntie Doris tipsy on sherry. Although I’ve scheduled this in advance I bet I’m saying “I can’t believe yet another Christmas is all over” every few hours when this goes out…!
It’s the last Best of the Blogosphere of the year – the last one of the decade! Everything’s “the last [blank] of the year/decade” at the moment. Just because we’re wrapping up another decade doesn’t mean that the blogosphere has become any less exciting or interesting to read – I’ve found some corkers this month. Stuff to make you weep with laughter, stuff to make you weep with All The Feels and stuff to make you weep with envy (good envy, that is).
I’m pleased to say there are SO many “feel good” reads here. I think it’s a lovely way to finish off the year (and the decade), and I can’t wait to see what content the blogosphere and bloggers’ social media platforms come up with next year. Yes, there are some negatives, but you have to admit the positives are ABUNDANT.
Do have a read of these great links – you never know who or what you might discover that makes your day/week/month (and see you on Tuesday for the very last Not Dressed As Lamb blog post of the 2010s)!
What links did you like – and have you found any fabulous new blogs to follow? Comment below…!

This video comes with (and I can’t stress this enough) a HUGE mascara warning: 78-year-old widow Terrence went on BBC Breakfast to talk about loneliness, but Dan Walker then visited him at home with an amazing surprise. It’s wonderful, but do not watch it somewhere where it’s inappropriate to ball your eyes out.
The images and videos made by creative duo Dom & Dom (@allthatisshe) are always awe-inspiring, but this video is exceptional… I can’t stop watching it over and over.
I didn’t think fleeces could ever really be stylish but Janelle’s wearing a fleece that’s also fashion.
IKEA have started hosting upcycling workshops (my kinda thing where IKEA is concerned!) and Poppy was lucky enough to attend one.
Annette did a cliffside walk in Howth, Ireland and the views are breathtaking.
If you haven’t yet seen the video of a cat saying “Well hi!” in a southern US accent, wait no more.
“Influencer fatigue, but make it bitter” – Hayley has discussed a new beauty brand which is totally misjudged with its very negative mission statement.
Andy wore the same basic outfit for five days straight – and no one noticed.
If you want 100% happy news instead of all the bad stuff that’s always reported, you need to follow The Happy Broadcast. It couldn’t get any happier.
More nice stuff! Hollywood nice guy Tom Hanks reading nice tweets is the nicest thing you’ll watch this year.
Got a bit of time to kill and want to have your mind blown by space? Visit If The Moon Were Only One Pixel (“a tediously accurate scale model of the solar system”).
Keiko’s holiday outfit roundup is all the winter/Christmas outfit inspiration I need… oh, that pink faux fur!
OMG – Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta in Grease outfits for the first time since the movie made my heart skip a beat.
“He was fighting fear with funny” – a bittersweet, yet ultimately hilarious, video by standup comedian Russell Howard telling the most wonderful, heartwarming story about a teenage boy showing huge courage in the face of adversity. (Be warned, it contains strong language and adult humour.)
And some Not Dressed As Lamb posts you perhaps missed first time around:

Thanks Urszula x
I love it all, but my favorite is ONJ and JT in their Grease costumes! Oh how I swoon over them both!

I was SO excited when I saw them in those outfits, Shelbee!!!!!
Happy New Year Catherine!
My Beauty Brand is a shocker, I agree with Hayley it missed the mark completely with that advertising campaign. Shot themselves in the foot by alienating influencers while cheekily turning its customer into a macro influencer. So strange… I’ll be watching closely to see where it all ends.

I actually couldn’t believe what I was reading about it, MT – shocking is right. What a bunch of hypocrites π
I am NOT crying like a blubbering two-year-old about Terrence, I have been cutting onions. Or something. Whatever.

Gets you right in the feels, doesn’t it Rona x
Oh that Tom Hanks video is darling!!! I’m going to go forward that to everyone I know π
I’ve already seen the Terrence one, it is a killer, isn’t it? He’s a doll.
Happy New Year to you, gorgeous.

HNY to you Lisa – hope you’re okay after all that niceness!!! Terrence killed me too #BawlingMyEyesOut
Lovely way to start my day, Catherine! I could listen to Tom Hanks read the phone book, and still wiping my eyes over Terrance!

Tom is just the best, isn’t he Mary Katherine π
I was just putting on my make-up when I decided to watch the video about Terrence (I have no focus…). You warned me but I thought I would be OK. I was NOT, cried my eyes out and had to redo the foundation.
Happy New Year Catherine.

Oh lordy, Greetje – I’m so sorry, but yes I did try to warn you!! HNY to you too x
Thank you so much for including me, Catherine! I really enjoyed Ireland, the cliffwalk was spectacular indeed.
Off to check out your other recommendations now.
Have a lovely time before the new year starts with new projects!
