How to Style Denim Dungarees (Overalls) | With a Blue Tee Like a Jumpsuit

Blue t-shirt, denim dungarees (overalls), tennis shoes

Admittedly a blue t-shirt and don’t really look like a jumpsuit, but I thought that a tee in a similar colour would at least give the impression of one.

This was a thrown-it-on outfit for a weekend walk and jolly to the supermarket (hey, my weekends are crazy!!), and although the outfit has a touch of the painter/decorator about it I’m really not bothered… I love dungarees.

I have a little tip for styling dungarees: Whatever top you wear underneath, either make sure it’s a close-fit (like a vest top/tank) or quite long. After wearing various different tops and tees with my dungarees I find that if it’s a loose fit and about the same length as the top of the trousers part then it’ll keep popping out and you’ll have to constantly tuck it back in. This was a nice extra long t-shirt so I didn’t have to worry about popping-outage (my word).

Have I converted anyone to dungarees since my last outing with them – I know many of you were considering them?!

Thanks Lauren – it's the most basic way to wear them but sometimes that's the best way…!

I did love my dungarees in my twenties, must admit a little afraid now but you pull them off effortlessly, I am tempted!

Hehe isn't that funny, Rachel – I'm the other way round when it comes to jumpsuits! Just don't feel right in them somehow: I've hardly worn the one jumpsuit I have. But thank you my lovely xx

I just love this look. Your dungarees are gorgeous and look great with the white sneakers. Really lovely but still looking casual and relaxed – great. Lorraine x

Aww thanks Alice – I think a lot of it is how you feel in something… I get that dungarees aren't for everyone! x

I love this! You look so fresh and funky. This is my day-to-day type of look….. Although, with my cropped hair and small bust, the dungarees can make me look like a teenage boy (with a few wrinkles!!) hahaha. I had never thought of going so casual on my own blog, you are such an inspiration.
What blusher do you use? I like the warmth it brings to your face.

Samantha thank you, what lovely comments!! I can imagine you'd actually look amazing in dungarees – I think the red crop would suit them!

I *think* the blusher I used here was a Barry M powder blush which, now that I've looked on their website, doesn't seem to be available any more. But it's close to the "Make Me Blush Powder Blusher" in Knickerbocker Glory – hope that helps…? It's a very peachy-orange colour that used sparingly comes out nice and warm 🙂
