It’s summer, so I guess that means it’s ‘styling my boho maxi dress’ time again…!
As sure as the Earth goes around the Sun, my favourite boho maxi will come out summer after summer. We went on holiday to Cornwall at the beginning of June (I know, I know, it was weeks ago… I’m on blog post catch-up still) and, unlike the current hit-and-miss weather that we’re experiencing in August, the whole of June was simply divine.

It’s making me somewhat wistful to look back at these photos now because we went for a week [to Poughill*, near Bude] and enjoyed a full week of warm temperatures and endless blue skies. In fact when I got home I realised I didn’t wear the light jacket or the sweatshirt I took with me “just in case” once, not even in the evening. How’s that for picking the best week to go on holiday?!
So the boho maxi (similar) did me proud once more with a belt, straw Fedora and soft white leather brogues. Nothing’s new here – it’s all on repeat – but I’ve found alternatives (above) if anything takes your eye.
I’ve added a few extra photos of the glorious Cornish landscape (and seascape!)… isn’t it so beautiful?
Are you a fan of a fail-safe boho maxi like me? Where is your favourite spot in Cornwall, or where would you LIKE to go? Let me know in the comments box below…
Thanks for reading xoxo

The view of the main cottage from our mini version where we stayed. So lovely to wake up to this view every morning.

I have been in Cornwall when I was 14, and then in my mid 30s. I was shocked when I saw Lands End. Horror, what have they done to it. Bare in mind I’m Dutch. Anyways……… love dresses like that. I live in them this season!

We went to Lands End a few years ago Nancy, but we’d not been there before. It was really just to say we’d been, it wasn’t all that exciting…!
How lucky to have to best week to go! I do love Cornwall, my uncle lives near Lostwitheil and is so pretty around there. Jacqui

Cornwall is just wonderful Jacqui… I’d live there if it wasn’t SO far away from the rest of the country. I may live in Devon but amazingly we’re as far from Lands End as we are from South West London!!
You picked the perfect week! We’re off to Boscastle on Saturday and I’m hoping/praying/currently preparing a sacrifice for good weather while we’re there… Stunning dress and lovely photos π

Oh Boscastle is lovely Lizzie – I’m keeping my fingers crossed for good weather for you!! And thank you x
What a gorgeous post! I love every element of the outfit, and immediately thought “I MUST have those brogues”! Will see if they’re available in the US…I WAS wondering how to pronounce the name of that town, so thanks for the phonetic breakdown – haha! So sorry y’all have had such a crappy-weather summer, but glad you managed to squeek in a sunny holiday.

Thanks MK – they’re one of my favourite pairs of brogues, they’re sooooooo comfy, I can wear them on dog walks as you can see!
We looked up the pronunciation of Poughill before we went and it seemed strange, but then “Pough” is spelt like “cough” but also like “rough” so it’s not actually all that weird to say “Poffull” OR “Puffull”!!
What a beautiful place to stay, Catherine! Devon and Cornwall have been on my bucketlist for so long…. maybe one of these days we’ll finally get there! Your photos are stunning. I especially love the ’tilt shift’ one you did (I need to look that up!). You were so lucky with the weather!
As for the dress, it’s gorgeous and I can totally understand why you wear it every summer. I would too!
Hugs

Suzy I added the link for the tilt-shift maker for you… it’s so easy to make them look really effective! They work best on landscapes where your viewpoint is slightly (or a lot) higher up, and make sure you have people and/or cars, boats etc. in the shot because then they look like miniatures. Whenever we go somehwrwe I’m always on the lookout for good shots to transform into a tilt-shifted image…!
And thank you, the dress is always on repeat as it’s my fave colour of coral π
That’s a truely magical light in the photos! And there is nothing better than beautiful dresses and sun hats in the summer. Thanks for the reminder of the beautiful sunny June we had. I was desperately needing it on this rainy August day…

Frieda thank you – nothing better than golden hour sunlight on a gorgeous English summer’s evening!! August has been so hit and miss, hasn’t it (more miss than hit unfortunately) #ugh π
