If you spend a lazy weekend with friends and there’s no formal occasion, all you need is jeans, t-shirt and a pair of comfy flats for that impromptu walk someone always suggests (usually to walk off your large lunch or to get to the pub).
We’ve had our first few days of proper spring at last – warm temperatures and sunny skies – so I was good to go in my , a cashmere sweater just in case it got chilly, jeans and a pair of (what I think of as) very retro, woven metallic loafers: these are by Lotus and were beautifully comfortable for a country walk and all those others things I mentioned above.
I chose these because they reminded me of woven leather shoes my sister used to wear in the late 1980s, but I went for a modern version in a warm metallic colour. And yes, they were so comfy (on the first wear, too!) and there were no blisters thankfully. I’ve had shoes from Lotus before (white leather loafers with a red sole which I still love) and they too were incredibly comfortable, so I think Lotus may be the go-to place for shoes that you can walk in without having to resort to sports shoes.
I’ve seen this woven style around a lot so they’re quite on-trend, but I thought being metallic made a nice change (they’re also available in natural, white and silver).
Just one thing about this style: I ordered my usual size and I never normally have to go up or down a size, but this style was very large. I went a full size down and as the leather is so soft they were the perfect fit, so if you’re thinking about ordering some get a size smaller. Apart from having to exchange the size (which was quick and painless) these are the ideal summer shoe.
Are you wearing your summer shoes and sandals yet? It’s that time of year that some people have scorching temperatures already but others are just about saying goodbye to the snow!

Yes those flat shoes are nice. I love the metallic shoes. Silver, gold, bronze. All good. I have worn summer shoes briefly when I visited my blogger friend Daniela in Italy. Apart from that, no. Not warm enough. I did buy nice pointy flats, but they give me blisters at the back. Bummer. I always get blisters. Hardly any summer shoe is kind to me.

Awww no, poor you, Greetje!! I often get blisters too but the leather on these was so soft I had no rubbing at all, thankfully. And I know how you love metallics, especially when it comes to shoes ;))
Love the bright colors and metallic shoes. xo~ Megan The Fashionista Momma

I love the shoes Catherine. They are retro aren't they as you say, with a modern twist. A nice alternative to ballerinas or brogues. You look fab as always xxx Love Liz xxx (www.whatlizzyloves.com)
Thanks Liz my lovely – I wish I could wear them with bare legs and a short skirt like you with your amazing pins…!! x
Love your style, so vibrant and chic with a little 60's vibe. Love, love, love Lotus shoes, I discovered them accidentally and I wore some bow heels on a recent modelling shoot and my readers went wild for them. Looking gorgeous as always x
Thank you Vicki – I didn't think about the 60s vibe but yes it does, I think it's the glasses ;))
Cute outfit! A good way to tiptoe into warm weather with the loafer, I haven't braved sandals yet! I'd love to find a loafer that fit but have half sized, narrow feet that are a pain to find flat shoes that will stay on my feet! Someday…
Another person with narrow feet, Steff! I definitely don't have that problem…! Glad you like the outfit, thank you x
I love those flats, Catherine. I tried on a similar pair last week at Nordstrom, but walked right out of them. Ah well, it was not to be. My feet are so narrow, I have trouble with many styles of shoes. They look great on you though. Glad you're having good weather, We are too….finally… feels like we went from snow boots to sandals in a couple of days!
Oh gosh that does sound frustrating about having narrow feet, Susan!! And thank goodness it's spring. I'm so relieved :)) Thank you my lovely x
Last week was nice but now it is freezing in Scotland!!! Can't wait to put my boots away. Lx
Oh all of my boots are still out and still being worn on and off!! Have to take each day as it comes…!
We've got summer already – so it's into the sandals for me. These loafers look so fresh and cute. xo
Ohhh Patti it's so not fair with your lovely Florida weather!!! Heehee please send us some sun 🙂 Thanks sweetie x
Love the shirt. So colourful.

So glad, Stella – thank you!
Cool t-shirt, love the colours!
Thank you, Arthur's mum!
Great loafers – wish I could have a pair as well! We had one great day of spring as well, on Saturday, then back to "normal"…
It's definitely that time of year for that, Tine…! Thanks hun x
We had exactly 15 minutes of spring here. Now we're back to the status quo – driving rain and gale force winds. Oh goody.
Oh no, Kristin!! I bet it didn't help hearing about London being like summer the last few days…?!!
Love those woven flats! So much cuter than a sneaker!
And just as comfy! Thanks Rosemond x
You were very well dressed this weekend the the colours of the shirts are fitting you perfect!
