Ad | How to Style a Faux Fur Gilet For Evening (Part 2 of 2)

Faux fur gilet, skinnies and heels
This is the second outfit I came up with in reply to Damart’s challenge to style a faux fur gilet two different ways (you can see the first outfit here).

I went for a look suitable for an evening out this time and absolutely love it – it proved to me what a great piece the gilet is.

I have collaborated with Damart to product two looks for an Autumn 2014 campaign. All content is original and opinions are my own and 100% honest.

I reckon a pair of skinny jeans with a great blouse, jewellery and heels are perfect for a night out or date night, but the problem with this time of year is what to wear to keep out the chill after dark. It’s generally too mild for a winter coat, and yet you need something to keep you warm – this is where the fur gilet comes in.

My theory is it’ll keep you warm on your way to the restaurant/bar/party, but you can also leave it on if necessary when you get there as it just looks so stylish – unlike a coat you won’t look silly if you don’t take it off. Whether you leave it on or off, you’ve got a great evening look right there with that statement necklace (mine’s very old, I’ve no idea where I got it), killer heels and a small clutch.

So they’re my two looks – daytime and evening; I hope they’ve given you some inspiration. Which of the two was your favourite, and have I made you hanker for a fur gilet of your own? Do let me know!

    Dear Catherine,
I'm absolutly in love with those shoes, i've already searched for them, but…no luck 🙁
May you please give me the correct link for them?
    Great look!!!

Hi Cris, I'm afraid they've long since sold out – I bought them in the sale earlier this year! I always give the actual link if something's still available, or if they're sold out I give alternatives if I can find similar things. So sorry – but thank you for the lovely compliment! x

P.S. I've added the widget to include some more deep red heels, hope that helps! x

Well…shoes are my misfortune, and a constant sin of consumption.
After seeing these, and the way I felt in love with it's shape, I know myself… I'll be forever dreaming about them, a stress!
Thank you so much for your kind response, and congratulations on your blog, wich I follow recently, but I'm already a fan 🙂

That's so lovely of you to say Cris – thank you!!

Loving the wine pumps Catherine! They make the outfit. I love adding fur pieces to outfits, it adds such texture and interest. Very chic!

Thank you so much, Cherie – the outfit definitely needed killer heels, these were more than man enough for the job I think! x

So this time you're making us pick a favourite, hmmm?! Well, dearest Catherine…I am sooo in love with this gorgeous necklace and your strap-tastic burgundy shoes; but if I truly MUST choose, then I have to go with the brooch-embellished first look!! It's just the coolest!! XOXO

Phew, good job you chose, Monika – I was beginning to think I'd lost my forceful touch!!! (hehe) Thank you my lovely… I think you'd look stinking hot in a furry gilet. I'm the coolest, you're stinking hot…!!!!!!!!!

Ooh, those shoes! I've been looking around for burgundy shoes and bags as I'm feeling all autumnal at the moment. Those are absolute stunners! I wonder if they're terribly uncomfortable? (Pops off to check the New Look website in case they've got something similar in stock…)

    • 20 October 2014 / 4:44 pm

They're pretty comfy (as far as five inch high heels go!) for a party or event where there are opportunities to sit, but I am used to heels. Which is surprising really, as New Look shoes are quite cheap (I find they usually rub) – the quality isn't great. I'm not knocking them, you just get what you pay for. But I then got them in the sale for about £11 so I wasn't going to pass them up for that price…!!

My thumbnail widgets show the best I could fine that were similar for a variety of budgets – hope you find something you love, Eleanor!

Wow … those pumps…. Wow. Yes, I like your evening styling with this gilet just a little bit more than your day styling too. But after many, many trials I have come to the conclusion that gilets are not for my body shape. They make me more straight and I don't need that. I need curves where the hips are. So I will admire you and that is it.

I'm not too sure that they're right for me either, but you know me, Greetje – caution to the wind and all that!! Thank you xx

Don't worry, they are right for you. You have hips and a small waist.

It seems that every Fall/Winter I regret the year I decided to get rid of my faux fur vest! It was eating up precious closet space. :o( I have yet to find one as soft or nice for such a great price, but I'll keep looking. :o)

Oh no, JJ!! There are so many on sale at the moment but yes I'd agree it's hard to find just the right one 🙂

Great inspiration on how to style my fur vest, Catherine! I especially love this look with your skinny jeans which balance the slightly bulkier vest. Your burgundy heels are awesome!

    Have a lovely Sunday evening,

I have a fur vest and I honestly have always worn it for layering but not for an evening loo. I will have to try this.
