In my post of 24 December, I wore a red tartan scarf and wrote that I was wearing red next to my face for the very first time; I pondered whether I should get a classic red dress as I’d always wanted one. Get this: the very next day (Christmas Day) I received a red dress from my husband. A beautiful, red midi dress from Asos that I’d seen ages ago and must have added to my online wish list and promptly forgot about. So this redhead wore red to a Christmas party, and received no end of compliments about it on the night…!
It’s actually described as pink on the website (?!!) but I think it’s a washed-out red rather than pink. All it needed was a bit of bling, a funky clutch and some patterned tights and I was comin’ over all Chris De Burgh’s Lady In Red. So I have a red dress at last, people – I am so stoked! I think I’d always envisaged myself looking like this, but I think a jersey midi version with sleeves is more me…!
Do you own a red dress – and if you do what style is it? Tell me in the comments!

I love red dressed, such a classic. I have always thought that red looks amazing on red heads.
I'm sure you can pull off any colour Catherine! This shape looks great on you too. I have a red floral print tea dress if that counts! I've found that red does suit me, but only 1 or 2 shades of pink look ok against my pinky skin tone. I've just included you in my top 3 'bloggers i'd like to be like' post (your blog is defo a fave)- hope you don't mind me screenshotting your blog!
Hope you're having a good week:D

That was so lovely of you to include me, Lily – a great post, thank you!!!
This colour suits you perfectly, and I love the necklace with it! The fit of the dress is awesome. I cannot believe you haven't had a red dress before! Kx
Absolutely lovely Catherine!! I love the way you accessorize to pull an outfit together perfectly. As a natural-born redhead I too was always told I couldn't wear red or pink and when I turned 30 I said to h*** with that! I love wearing red and pink. I do not own a red dress but this post certainly makes me want one.
oh you know me catherine i LOVE red!! This dress is utterly stunning on you! I wear red with everything and anything lol xxx
Absolutely stunning! I've always thought the redheads not wearing red thing is silly. I wear it fairly often and typically get compliments.

Yes…a truly lovely "lady in red" look!! Coincidentally, tomorrow I'm featuring my own first-time-ever red look on my OWN blog!! Red is such an amazing colour…yet I've never felt really comfortable wearing it; but bloggers like you, dear Catherine, have finally convinced me to give it a try!!

Don't forget I'm a red newbie too, Monika! Thanks my lovely x
You look fabulous in red and should wear it more often. I have a tough time wearing mustard yellow and still having don't have much of it in my closet.

The dress is stunning but it is the necklace that has caught my attention, the whole outfit is smashing on you.
Wow, thank you Linda!!!
Looking gorgeous in red Catherine! Happy 2014 to you!
xx, Heather
Thanks Heather – and HNY to you too 🙂
I love red dresses! I have a short-sleeved one and long-sleeved one. I love wearing statement necklaces with them just like you did. You look gorgeous!

He did alright, didn't he Patti…?! Thanks my lovely x
You look great in red! I love how you accessorized it too. It's amazing what fun accessories can do for a classic piece.
I do have a red dress as well. It's a sheath style though. I feel like a walking valentine when I wear it though.
A walking valentine… that's a great analogy. Thanks hun so much! x
You are so beautiful it is crazy! I would never doubt that you could pull off a red dress, I actually think you could even pull off a stained dress!
My son is a red-head after seeing this post I vow to finally get him a little red polo shirt!
I think your style is pretty great because you can take an ASOS dress and make it look like a NetaPorter find!
Have you read this article from the StyleCaster ? http://stylecaster.com/the-7-habits-of-highly-stylish-people/ it made me think of you! I'm a little lammie!!

Oh my Angie thank you – what wonderful compliments!!! Love the Net a Porter reference… so nice of you to say. I've added you to my Little Lammies list ))
You wear this colour with so much confidence and it looks fabulous, Catherine! Perfect accessories too.
I love red dresses and received a beautiful red mock wrap dress from asos in the post today. It was available only 1 size bigger than my usual size… and it fits like one size smaller 🙁 Really disappointed about the non-conformity of sizes.

Oh what a shame Annette… but yes I find the same with sizes – for example the grey/red tartan check trousers in Sunday's sale post: I mentioned I bought my usual size and they were faaaar to small. Usually anything in a size up just hangs off me. Hopefully you'll find one soon – I think it will fabulous on you! Thank you for your lovely comments as always xx
The colour looks gorgeous on you and I like the added touch of the necklace.
You thinking the colour looks good on me is a great compliment – thank you Josephine :))
Love that dress on you. Of course it's sold out in my size
Oh no hun, what a shame..! Thought I'm sure you saw it comes in other colours too…? xx
Lovely colours your makeup looks really pretty

Thanks Laura – and it sounds like you're a #bblogger so that's a fabulous compliment from someone like you!!
Beautiful colours, you look so pretty ♥
Eeee thanks Anne!!
Gorgeous dress! Back when I used to be a faux red head I though red heads couldn't wear red but I have since changed my mind! You look stunning!
Aww thanks Princess Jord…!
You look lovely in red! I find red difficult to wear as it clashes with my black/dark hair – but i do have a few red items in my wardrobe, most of them with a print on them so I can just about get away with it. Your dress is so elegant and I am forever loving your sophisticated style! x
Gosh thank you Sarah – I can imagine red looks amazing on you however, no clashing involved…!
