Now the shock that it’s December already has (mostly) passed, it’s time to work out what to wear to the Christmas party.
And if you’re not necessarily on an outfit budget this year, what better way to break out of a little black dress rut than to go for a little green dress?
I’ve put this outfit together for a style challenge entry – as you lovely readers helped me win the last one, I was hoping you’d vote for this outfit too: I need as many “Likes” as possible on the Aspire Style Facebook competition page where they’ve challenged a group of bloggers to create a Christmas party outfit based around a dress from their site. I’d really appreciate it if you were to vote for me again (the winner gets £250 of Aspire Style vouchers, so that would mean another great Aspire Style giveaway for you)!
I chose this gorgeous Louche pleated green mini dress which is a perfect alternative to a little black dress – does that mean I’m wearing a LGD…?! Inspired by the black bow belt worn by Blair Eadie with her pink dress, I created a statement belt by pinning three black flower corsages to a black elasticated belt (it has a butterfly clasp but I purposely hid that) – I’m so pleased with how it turned out! Plus any fashionista worth their weight in Zara will throw their jacket on over their shoulders, don a pair of patterned tights and add a glittery clutch.
So if you like the way I’ve styled it…
Click here to see my outfit on their Facebook page and “Like” to vote!
(you’ll also go into a £50 Aspire Style goodybag prize draw)
The winning blogger will receive £250 Aspire Style vouchers that I’ll be passing on to you in a giveaway as a thank you if I win!
So I’ve got my party outfit all sorted for this season, though it might be my Christmas Day outfit… I haven’t decided yet.

You look amazing, Catherine!
The colour is beautiful and just perfect for your hair. Your flower belt and tights add the extra twist and your blazer and heels balance it. Nobody can beat your look in this competition 🙂

Thank you Annette – though I think I'm going to be beaten into second place 🙁
You look fantastic. Styling at our age (over 40s) can be a minefield but you always get it so right. This is what I wore to a family party last weekend.

Thanks Nanette! You may have guessed from what I write, but I've so forgotten to think about my age when getting dressed… and it's so liberating. Occasion appropriate is the only 'appropriate' that matters to me now! x
Stylish and sophisticated. Love the twist the belt and tights provide!

what a great outfit – love the dress; both the cut and the colour, and the tights are wonderful !!
You are most DEFINITELY party-ready in this look, Catherine!! The colour of the dress is gorgeous on you…and I love your DIY idea for the belt!! (I styled a belt as a necklace in one of my blog posts a while back!) It's really nice to see the patterned tights, too; somehow, I think we often talk ourselves into the idea that bare legs are always best…but look how much fun texture these add to your outfit!!

Hehe thanks Monika! I'm the opposite – I'm rarely convinced that bare legs are better, brrrr!!!!
so cool =) I love it!!! <3
