Back To Casual | Layered Knitwear & Boyfriend Jeans

Layered knitwear with plum gloves

So Christmas is all but over for another year, and that leaves New Year’s Eve and then the start of a whole new 2014.

After all the dressing up of the festive period I was glad to don my jeans and sweaters again, and the weather has been reasonably mild for this time of year so a thousand layers weren’t needed.

A new pair of boyfriend jeans, a chunky snood and my black boots from New Look were what I was drawn towards at the end of last week – my hands are still feeling the cold so my fabulous purple leather gloves that I received for Christmas were the perfect accessory to smarten this “back to reality” outfit up just a tiny bit. This will also be my last post of 2013, but I’ll start off the New Year with another “Bloopers & Outtakes” post that I did at the beginning of this year – do come back on the 1st for that, it’ll hopefully be pretty funny…!

What about you – did you receive anything for Christmas that you can’t wait to show off?

I currently don't own any jeans but I am thinking of buying a pair and the way you style your boyfriend jeans will tempt me into trying on a pair.

Trying something we're a bit afraid or unsure of is ALWAYS worth a try, Rebecca… I always fear I'm missing out on things!! x

As usual you make something interesting out of something simple. Great outfit. And No, I have not received anything at Christmas (we don't do presents). Well…. apart from an iPhone 5 (want to see that haha?), money from my mother for which I bought a bright green knitted sweater (such a site for sore eyes). Lots of presents before Christmas though.
Happy New Year dear Catharine. I am looking forward to the bloopers.

I love your purple gloves, Catherine; what a great way to add some interest to a basic "jeans and sweater" look!! And speaking of jeans…this boyfriend-style pair strike a perfect balance of "easy" and figuring-flattering!!

The jeans are described as "slim boyfriend cut" and I think that's the key – comfortable yet not too bulky! They fit you so well.
Can't wait to see your next post, I am sure I could add a lot of similar photos πŸ˜‰

    Happy New Year, Catherine!

Yes it was the "slim" description that made me decide to try them, Annette! Thank you my lovely x
