Ways to Style Dungarees: With 70s Style Shirt, Boots and Hair #iwillwearwhatilike

It’s no secret I love dungarees, and it’s no secret I love 70s style. Time to merge the two.

Not only that but I’ve finally broken the chain of orange, brown and red outfits (at LAST, woop)!

Full-on casual today, though instead of the sneakers I wore for most of the day with this outfit I’ve shown the mahoosive platform boots I wore with the outfit for about an hour. Nowhere to go these days calls for wearing your fave accessories (or even full outfits) round the house.

70s style makes me happy, and dungarees are just the best thing ever for weekend wear… I even did a bit of gardening in them.

Last time I wore these ones [on the blog]? Way back in September 2017 (worth checking out for the lovely photos of Riley)!

This outfit is pretty much just the three main pieces: dungarees, shirt and boots. (I’ve shown 5 other ways to wear dungarees from my archives at the end of the post if you want to check them out.) I KNOW that dungarees are a bit Marmite [love ’em or hate ’em], but I’m in the love camp. And I loved mine even more with my 70s style (but not actually vintage) shirt which I last wore here.

Throw in those crazy platform boots (worn earlier this year here, here and here) and my current favourite hairstyle of dead straight with a centre parting and I feel like an extra from a Robert Redford drama/thriller movie.

BTW if it’s vintage-looking shirts or blouses you’re after, I can’t recommend Hawes & Curtis enough. They have a huge selection of vintage style shirts and blouses, some even with 70s-style collars. I bought my red patterned blouse in their last winter sale, and the prices are very reasonable (great sales!) and the styling is spot-on. I could EASILY buy five shirts straight away from their current collection, no problem…!

What’s YOUR favourite decade for style? Any other die-hard fans of “the decade that style forgot” (the 70s) out there? Comment below…

Stay safe, XOXO

P.S. Check out this comment left way back in 2014 on a post where I wore my grey dungarees… these comments make me LOL with their schoolteacher-y tone, as if I’m being told off…!!

“No to the dungerees [sic]! You’re gorgeous and you look amazing in pretty much everything, but even you look better in clothes that aren’t dungerees [sic]. You could get the same effect with a pair of chinos and the sweater, jacket etc. And be far more comfy in a much more flattering style. Still, whatever floats your boat, I guess”

As you can imagine I didn’t give a sh*t then, and I don’t give a sh*t now 😀
