Like Nothing Else in the Shops: A Blue Patterned Jumpsuit #iwillwearwhatilike

Like Nothing Else in the Shops: A Blue Patterned Jumpsuit \ grey wedge espadrilles \ cream Panama hat \ red backpack | Not Dressed As Lamb, over 40 style

If you know my style you’ll know I love me a print (or two or three), so this blue patterned jumpsuit kinda rocks my world, if I’m being honest.

I think I’ve found me a brand that sells prints of my dreams: if you’re after reasonably-priced, well-cut clothes that are nothing like anything on the high street right now, you might want to check out Italian brand Anonyme.

(This is not a sponsored post but Anonyme did kindly gift me the jumpsuit on a no-obligation basis.)

When I checked out the website I went a little gaga over the pieces with prints – they’re not your typical Topshop/Asos/M&S prints AT ALL. They’re a little bit exotic, a little bit graphic, a little bit retro. Hard to describe, in other words! You can definitely tell they’re a brand from the continent and not anything that would be designed in the UK.

The jumpsuit is unfortunately sold out, but there are several other pieces in the same print. I also chose the Valentina shirt – frustratingly it’s been too hot to wear it so far, but it totally looks like something a newsreader from the 1970s would wear and I’m soooo into that kind of look.

I mentioned that Anonyme’s pieces are reasonably priced: the jumpsuit was €125 and the shirt was under €80 – both were then reduced to half price so OH MY GOODNESS what a bargain for some really unique items. I can almost guarantee you won’t be turning up to a wedding or party in the same outfit as someone else with any of these pieces. It’s like buying vintage from Etsy or eBay but without the uncertainty or the problems with sizing.

I’ve worn this jumpsuit about three times already: twice with the cream Panama hat (such a summer staple!), and once with red shoes… this blue is the perfect backdrop for red, so the second time I wore my red backpack with it. I’m not one to wear cool colours very often (my wardrobe is predominantly pink, orange, red, yellow, etc. as opposed to blue and green), but when presented with a print like this, my colour preferences go out the window.

The #iwillwearwhatilike link up with Not Dressed As Lamb
Thank you for joining the #iwillwearwhatilike link up! This started as a campaign on Instagram in August 2015 where women over 30 wore everything on a journalist’s list of “inappropriate” items for 30+ women (including leopard print, short dresses and oversized sunglasses. Yes, really). It was so popular that I decided to carry it on weekly where women of all ages link up their fabulous style, never mind what anyone tells them not to wear!

The link up goes live every Monday at around 3pm UK time and will stay open for a week. Whilst the original article was of course aimed at the 30+, you can be ANY age to link up. The only criteria is that you’re wearing whatever you damn well like!

1970’s News Reader is the perfect description! I love how jumpsuits look on others, but hate the bathroom issues that seem part and parcel of jumpsuits. I’m hunting for a matching blouse and trouser for the same feel… Haven’t found the right ones yet!

Dear Catherine. I know the blogpost is about the jumpsuit, but you bag just catches my eye when I look at the beautiful photos. As a teacher one can always use practical bags (and in my case I love them to be stylish too), so that’s why I am completely in love with this red darling! Thanks for showing it. Love, Lieske

I love this on you! I’ve just had a big snoop through the site and looked at dress after jumpsuit saying in my head, “Catherine.” “That is so Catherine” ” That looks just like Catherine” “I bet Catherine loves this one.” I can see why you like it so much; they have some amazing things. They even have a dark floral that I love, and you KNOW my feelings on florals! What a find, C! xx

I checked this brand out a little while ago after you gave a sneak peek on IG I think, and like you say, something a bit different. There was a lot to like! You look gorgeous. I’m in blue and white this week too. X

Great graphic, I agree! This looks like a fabulous cool summer piece.

I checked out Anonyme’s site. They could use a model like you to reflect those of us in the powerful over-40 market. I hope they read this. Thanks for the linkup, Catherine.
