In my Best of the Blogosphere this month I have anti anti-ageing, a supermarket social media dance-off, the gender pay gap, sequins for daytime and more!
(In case you’ve not seen these posts before my Unmissable Reads are a monthly round-up of things I’ve seen, watched and liked in the blogosphere that I’m sure you’ll love too.)
August is, of course, the quiet month in the blogosphere, but the weather has been so terrible this month in the UK that I feel all the Brits at least will want something to read while the rain takes over yet another day. Wherever you are, do have a read of these great links – you never know who or what you might discover that makes your day/week/month!

This is one of the most hilarious Twitter threads I’ve read in ages: Two supermarket giants have a dance off on social media to see who’s the best.
Allure magazine are no longer using the expression “anti-ageing” and I am SO glad. Optimum ageing, anyone?
The lovely 60+ blogger Suzi Grant has rediscovered her 80s self in this fantastic TV presenting clip on Twitter.
One of the most breathtakingly beautiful vintage outfits (and shoots) I’ve seen in the blogosphere in a very long time.
Carly talks about finding confidence: “Confidence will find you if you let it, stop doing the things you don’t want to, stop trying to fit in and stop trying to buy something you can buy. Do you, whoever you are.”
A Liverpudlian bakery owner has gone viral after refusing to give out free cakes in exchange for exposure on social media – as fellow freelancers bloggers know EXACTLY what that’s like…
The very wonderful Samantha from Fake Fabulous has created a weekly link up – she’s the perfect person to host one.
Fashion journalist Caryn Franklin wrote about the psychology of the gender pay gap – very honest and very insightful.
James of Fohr Card talks brilliantly about how to create unboxing InstaStories and host giveaways (two of my pet peeves if done badly).
You may have seen this in my guilty pleasures post, but it’s worth showing it again: Possibly the world’s biggest Lizzie Maguire fan is not at all what you’d expect.
The best of the Over40Collective this month
This is a section where I share the best post from each member of the O40Co. Enjoy! π
Sparkle aficionado Lisa/The Sequinist (of course!) does sequins for daytime and just blew me away with the colours and the shine.
Liz looks practically like a teenager in her pretty yellow lace sundress.
Michelle shows off her gorgeous but unusual wrapover maxi dress and plaited up-do on holiday in Italy.
Annette inspired me to go and buy a similar skinny scarf after I saw this classy outfit of black and brights.
Who says you can’t do plunging necklines at 50? Nikki looks an absolute knockout in a red midi dress .
Michelle explains why it’s perfectly okay to take a blogging break and how she’s looking for fresh inspiration.
