Last weekend we went exploring in a city we’ve not been to before: Cheltenham, in Gloucestershire. I had the chance to review a hotel and could pick the location, so we went for a city rich in Regency architecture (like Bath, which is one of my favourite places ever – but I’ve been there a lot) to do some general exploring and enjoy the sunshine we were lucky enough to have. The hotel review will come next week; I promise you it’ll be worth it as the pictures of the hotel are amaaaazing (outfit photos will be included). Meanwhile, here’s what I wore on the Saturday!
Not having to wear a coat is such a blessing in the UK – you don’t get many months of it so I celebrated with bare forearms, neck and ankles… woo-hoo, so daring! I discovered that my trusty old pink brogues go perfectly with my La Redoute pink heart sweater, and I thought I’d tone down all the pink with a couple of variations of olive green. A couple of interesting pieces of jewellery – the feather earrings ( are very similar) and my Hello bracelet and I was ready for some sightseeing.
I have to do sightseeing in flats – or at least very comfy (or chunky) heels – but can you do it in heels like some bloggers I see? Or are you as obsessed with brogues like I am… do share in the comments!

I think you looked lovely in this combination. We so wanted to spend the next two weeks in Bath and surroundings. Or Gloucestershire. Then all those aweful floods came. And my husband did not think it would have dried by this summer. By the look of your pictures, it has and we could have come. Such a shame.
And yes I will wear flats as well when I am exploring. No fool here.

I am in love with your shoes. Love. I just read your January post about why you love being a 40+ fashion blogger – what a great article! I'm a brand new 40+ blogger, so I really appreciate reading your perspective.
Yay, you were right by me!

How do you turn a masculine-looking shoe into something unabashedly feminine?! Make it pink!! I like pink so much, dear Catherine, and yet I never wear it…maybe I should start with my footwear!! Looks like most of my current collection is going to need replacing, so that would be the perfect place to start!! (And yes, I always USED to be the girl that wore her highest heels even for a full day of walking!!) 😉

Aww thanks Dawn that's a lovely description!
Uber comfy chunky heels all the way when sightseeing. I wish I could make high heels my staple a la Victoria Beckham, but my calves don't need quite that much toning…
Hehe I don't know how she does it, Amy!!
Love the color combo, Catherine and I say yes to brogues! xox
I love the combination of olive green and rosé, Catherine.
No stilettos for sightseeing for me… Cities or old towns with cobblestone require comfy shoes!
