Dressed in raindrops, owls and stripes

Blazer: Dorothy Perkins (old, dyed), Scarf: ASOS, Striped top: Primark, Raindrops tee: Diesel, Jeans: Miss Sixty, Hat: F+F, Boots: Dune, Earrings: F+F, Watch: Red Herring: Black ring: Unknown

A few things I either haven’t worn before or for a long time: the neck scarf, Diesel t-shirt, and owl earrings.

I bought the dinky scarf from ASOS the other week (super cheap) but I just couldn’t work out how it stayed in place – it isn’t knotted – I was looking for a hidden clip or fastener. It’s actually has a ‘pull through closure’ which took me an age to work out (or rather, I had to re-read the item blurb online in desperation). So glad I realised this before I sent it back as unsuitable…! The last time I wore the Diesel t-shirt was on holiday in San Francisco (see the post here): I dislike ironing intensely, but this top really has to be ironed. So that’s how long it took me to iron it (sooo bad). And I’ve not worn the owl earrings before (I bought them probably last Spring) as somehow I just couldn’t get them to work with an outfit, even though I really love them.

So I’m glad a few rediscovered/new items have spruced up this outfit – I do love the colours and all the pattern which did feel so warm and snuggly in this weather…?

Hope everyone had a great weekend 🙂

P.S. Please don’t forget if you have a minute to vote for me on Refinery29’s Next Big Style Blogger contest online (see yesterday’s post for all the details) – thank you so much, I’d really appreciate it!

Isn't it fun to find ways to wear things that have sat around in your wardrobe (or hamper) for a long time? I always feel very celebratory, like I actually accomplished something! This raindrop sweater is absolutely so much fun…really love it!<3 Cambriajupefashion.blogspot.com

Ha! If I can't take out wrinkles of a clothing item with a dryer and a damp towel I tend to ignore it, too. 🙂

You are so good at mixing colors and patterns!

You have a good eye to combine all those colours and ideas and really seriously pull it off. It just works on every level! I'm afraid I would look seriously demented (which of course, I'm not!)

    Cheers,

I would NEVER have thought you're demented, Rosemary, hee hee!! But seriously, I hope it inspires you to try new things (I really forced myself to wear the earrings, I always thought they looked "not right". Looking at the pics I could see they did work – or rather I was happy with how they looked – so result!) Catherine x

This outfit is so so creative and fun. It's exactly why I keep visiting your blog. It's never boring! I'm going to use this image today to plan what I'm going to wear. I just need a colored jacket. I've spent a lot of time, too much time, wearing gray, black, brown and white. I think I need to go shopping!

What a yummy outfit! Before I read your post, I was going to ask how you designed that scarf closure : > I am with you on the ironing, it always takes last in line. Come on over and post your beautiful self at Visible Monday if you have a chance, you look fabulous!

Hi Patti, and thank you – yes I've now linked up! Hee hee the scarf really did fox me, I just couldn't see that there was a hole to poke the other bit through 😉 C xoxo
