My Inner Carrie Bradshaw

Somehow, I don’t know how, I ended up getting a Carrie Bradshaw vibe when looking at these photos.

Another case of looking in the mirror at an outfit and thinking (in this case) yes – you’re looking all retro secretary, girl! …then something else altogether comes to mind when viewing it on screen.

Looking at the big wavy hair and full skirt in the camera viewfinder I immediately remarked ooh, it’s a bit Carrie B isn’t it (luckily Mr Summers is aware of the phenomenon we know as SATC)… and then wondered how I had the audacity to compare myself. Believe me, I’m no CB when it comes to style – those are lofty heights I can only dream of, but therein lies our inspiration, and what would we do without that?!

So I’m showing off two things today: firstly, another pair of geek chic glasses – I LOVE these (new) retro style babies from eBay! I only actually need glasses for reading but like them as an extra accessory to an outfit, so I’m starting to get a little collection of clear lens glasses going. And secondly – my nail tips manicure that I was inspired to do by Crashing Red… the lovely Maria tipped her nails in different neon colours but I stuck to orange. I can see myself doing this more in the future.

Finally for all you lovely folks who’ve commented on my hair recently – I’ve been sporting the same plaited hair for most of the last few posts – it’s very easy to do if you buy a false plait hairband… that’s how mine’s so neat…

Scarf: Thrifted, Sweater: F+F, Skirt: ASOS (sale), Heels: Nine West (sale), Tights (brown and ribbed, but you can’t tell): F+F, Glasses: eBay, False plait hairband: eBay, Tortoiseshell cuff: Accessorize (sale), Watch: Christmas gift, ASOS, Rings: New Look, ASOS.

I might have to get one of those headbands. That's genius! I've tried making my own hair into a braided headband a couple times and it looked awful.

And I actually know very little about Miss Carrie but, from what I do know, this is very reminiscent. Love it!
