So this is what my hair looks like after the "Helga hair" of the last post... big and frizzy. I love the combo of the cobalt blue and mustard yellow with the starkness of the white - looks all clean and crisp and neat (which is why I let my hair down, to contrast with all that)! The Nine West loafers I bought before Christmas are turning out to be a great all year round shoe; it rarely gets hot enough for long enough in Blighty to have to wear flip flops for months on end. Though just a few days (in a row) when it's that warm would be nice; pleeeease, Mr. Weatherman?
Not forgetting: a word of warning for all fashion bloggers. Never, ever, forget to pack a spare battery for your camera when photographing away from home. Otherwise it will die on you after you have taken about four shots... then you will have to finish the shoot at home (after a 20 minute drive back), in front of your garden fence, all the while hoping that the light doesn't change massively, and that the set of photos won't look strange because of the change of background. =sigh= Anyone else had that happen to them at an inopportune moment...?
It's Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have a great weekend, everyone!

I have very little explanation for the title of this post, except to say that Peachy Helga is what popped into my head when drafting it up... and in the end I couldn't think of a better one. I always feel like my name should be Helga with this hairdo...!
Back to brights again for this outfit - the extra punch of yellow from the socks was more of a practical choice than a style choice (my feet had been sooo cold in the office the day before; I wasn't taking any chances). Like putting the heating on, I refuse to wear tights in June. But the thing I like most about this outfit is very simply the combination of green (apple ring) and turquoise (nail colour). I often find I'm drawn to the very small details of an outfit and find myself admiring them throughout the day, like I've made some little secret discovery that only I'm aware of ;)
By the way - I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who commented on my last post after I announced that I will be continuing with my blog after next month's birthday/bloggiversary. I really appreciate all your lovely words and support - you guys are the best!!
Happy Wednesday everyone :)

Monday, 25 June 2012
In a post I did in April, I mentioned that my blog was originally something I only planned to do for a year, in the run up to my fortieth birthday. (To read what on earth I'm talking about, click here.) And I mentioned that I would have to make a decision over whether to carry on, as I couldn't imagine not blogging any more - I have made sooo many fabulous bloggy friends along the way.
So, as Not Dressed As Lamb (NDAL) will be one and I will be 40 in less than a month, I have made a decision about what to do. (Oh and thank you to those of you that begged me not to stop! So very sweet of you!) And the decision is.... of course I'm going to carry on. Did you really think I wouldn't? ;)
But there is a but...
When I started I never envisaged how much time the blog would take up; believe me I absolutely doing love it - it's reignited my love of photography for a start - but I've worked out I need to recharge my batteries and have a more bit time away from this computer screen (I work on one all day at work too).
For want of a better expression: I'm taking a blog sabbatical, like having the summer holidays off school, if you will. However, there will not be a big gap over the summer at NDAL, as I'm going to pre-schedule a whole bunch of posts for the end of July to the beginning of September, probably posting every three to four days. I am going to continue to do outfit posts (I've been building them up, which is why I'm currently posting outfits worn a week or two ago). I'm also going to write a few fashion/style/image based posts - or Musings as I call them - maybe a vlog or two so you can laugh at my boring English accent - and a mini series of photography tips posts that I have been requested to do a few times... I knew I did that photography degree for something!!!
And finally NDAL will get a bit of a makeover. Now that I feel safe in saying I'm no longer a rookie blogger, I can let loose the surpressed graphic designer in me and get creative to make it work better for my needs. All in all it's a mini break for me, but lots to see and read for you guys. Of course I will still come check out everyone else's blogs and comment - that's another thing I want more time for! So that's the plan, I hope it will please everyone who was fretting (haha).
I'm happy to take suggestions for posts that I haven't mentioned: is there anything you would like to see me post about? Let me know in your comments!

I'm afraid I almost totally stole this outfit from one I pinned here... I needed inspiration last weekend and had a quick peek at my Pinterest Spring Summer board the night before, so I can't take much credit for this! But I did add a pop of red with my plastic Melissa bow wedges and red belt, plus the outfit needed a hat. Rather, my bad hair day needed a hat ;)
This is the second pair of trousers I've bought since the Mint Chinos Debacle (or at least that's what I've called it). Long story short: first wear of perfect fit mint chinos; house exited with bottle of orange nail polish in hand; keys, bag and nail polish juggled whilst locking front door; nail polish dropped onto concrete doorstep; perfect mint chinos splattered with full contents of nail polish bottle; tears over death of perfect mint chinos; perfect mint chinos totally sold out online and in all stores; online trouser shopping frenzy to help me get over death of perfect mint chinos.
The first pair (not chinos) I purchased in this two month frenzy have been worn here and here, and now the tropical print chinos also have helped to fill the little hole in my heart. Now, I must go - the peach floral version has just come back into stock: only one in my size, Add to Basket!!
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

My lovely mum brought me back this summery white top from her holiday in Australia. Although the weather just hasn't been warm enough (for long enough) to wear it loose with the lovely lace edging out, I thought I would just layer it up and save the reveal of the edging for a proper summer's day. (Might be a long wait.)
I've named my trousers my "blue balloon pants" - they're light and a lovely soft brushed cotton from good ol' ASOS - perfect for summer (and pseudo-summer) days. The weather may stop me wearing light summer clothing, but it can't stop this one-man colour machine. There ain't NO weather front that can do that ;)
Happy Sunday everyone - hope you're all enjoying a nice weekend! Oh and come back on Tuesday for a round up of my favourite spring outfits from the last few months!

Hello lovely readers! Yes these are my wedding shoes, I've worn my wedding trousers a few times on the blog and just hadn't worn the shoes for ages. You can't see but they're wedges, and very comfortable too thank goodness :)
This is what I wore on yet another cold grey day this summer (summer?! To the cold wet weather: will you please just END already??). I took grey days as inspiration but added bright pops of purple, lilac, pink and orange. I love this colour combo, it's a nice alternative to traditional summer colours; however I think I was more than a little influenced by this outfit I Pinned of Kim at eat.sleep.wear...!
Oh and the third pic was taken just after the Red Arrows flew over - Mr. Summers tried to get them in the shot but of course they were way too fast for him to change the camera settings in time. So he just photographed my reaction instead: Great hair action, mister!
Happy Friday to you all and have a fabulous weekend!!
