My 2023 Fashion Blogger Bloopers and Outtakes

Happy 2024! It’s January 1st, so that means… time for my annual bloopers and outtakes post!

Disclaimer: I did not post a bloopers reel last January 1st, for the first time ever in my 12 years of blogging. I had several people (well, maybe two) ask me, Why? Why, Catherine, why no bloopers post?

The sad answer is that I barely uploaded any outfit photos in 2022. Ergo, hardly any bloopers to choose from. And as I had a bit of a reboot in the summer of 2023, it seemed to make sense to combine the last two years to make up a decent quantity to fit into one post.

So here we have not just 2023 bloopers, but 2022 bleepy bloops as well.

I’d like to say that I hope you think they’re okay, but that’s not really the point of bloopers, is it? The point is to show me off at my worst: double chins, weird hand gestures and all. Though I AM somewhat used to publishing these once a year and kinda don’t see the double chins anymore, so that’s a bit worrying.

Anyway! I’ll leave these with you so that you can take pleasure from my pain. They’re the photos that prove it’s all smoke and mirrors (and often just a case of shooting my best side). I’m hoping to get on with more outfit shots in 2024 so you never know, there may be a bumper crop of bloopers one year from now 😉

1. The one where I pulled All The Faces

Oh, the constant checking and adjusting and preening, all for an outfit shoot. But when I still had my long hair, it used to REALLY annoy me that it was always caught in my coat and had to be constantly yanked out. Original post >>

There hasn’t been a family photobomb since 2016 (scroll down to no.28), back in the days when my sister and nieces (it was usually them) made it their mission to actually get into this annual bloopers post on purpose. 4. The one where I attempted to break the world record for most double chins ever

I can count at least six chins here, because the roll neck on my sweater looks like it blends into my real double chins. Thank god I didn’t go for a camel-coloured roll neck, because then it would undoubtedly have looked like six chins. Original post >>

Oh the number of times we take all the outfit photos, go to wrap up, and then I realise I’ve left my scrunchie on my wrist the whole time. UGHH. It’s not meant to be part of the outfit (it’s just on my wrist a lot of the time for emergency hair tying-up) and I know it’s not the end of the world, but I find it SO distracting in the finished photos that I have to reshoot.
