As promised in my Catheriniest dress of all time post, I now bring you the Catheriniest raincoat ever.
A rainbow, but not as you know it… I’m calling this a ‘Rainbow on Steroids’ print. Boden can always be relied on for wild prints and even wilder colour combinations, so when I saw this rainbow raincoat back at the end of last summer when it said “coming soon” I kept my beady eye on it. As I usually do, I waited patiently for it to go not just on sale but into the sales. Boden can be a bit pricey and I can be a bit frugal – or, as it’s known in my family, a bit “squeak squeak”. Coming from the sound of being tight, LOL.
Anyway I waited for the sales… and one day, go on sale it did. (Or did it went on sale? Ugh #grammardilemmas)

Now, that’s not to say I have to run everything past Keith before I buy it (we don’t live in 1952, he leaves me to make my own buying decisions thank GOD), but sometimes it makes it more exciting when something is SO amazing that you have to share the excitement with someone RIGHT THERE AND THEN.
So for me, when Keith gets the wife shoving a picture of some overly-colourful apparel in his face and a barrage of IT’S ON SALE IT’S ON SALE CAN I GET IT CAN I GET IT he knows me well enough to translate that as “You see this lovely item right here? I AM going to buy it, so when it arrives and I parade around the house wearing it, that means you shower me with compliments about said item and tell me what a wise and considered investment it was, mmkay?”
And to be fair to my January sales judgment, I have worn it almost every day since buying it. I’m just a girl, standing in front of other dog walkers, asking them to NOTICE me…
What are YOUR techniques for getting your partner’s approval/compliments/you know what I mean? Plus if you own or have seen a brighter raincoat, please tell me, I’m up for a trench-off…

P.S. I photographed this with the boots I intended to wear on our dog walk… we then realised it was too muddy in the field where Suki wanted to go. Thankfully I had my wellies in the car, so that’s why I’m wearing wellies in the reel I made on this day. And yes, Suki takes us for a walk, not the other way round.

Oh how I still love this raincoat!!! I do have to run things through my hubby though. I don’t work so I really feel weird about spending money in my, specially if it is a little pricier. I am just like you the one shoving the phone in his face telling him how much I love this and how long will it last and how cheaper it is now… other times I just get stuff hahahaha like my favourite knickers that I buy every time they go on sale! (Last time was two weeks ago. From $25 ea to $18 ea and then 80% off, buy 5 get 7, plus clearance…. I got them for $3 ea!!)
But a raincoat in AZ makes no sense AT ALL. He caved 12 yrs ago and got me my Hunters which I’ve worn like 5 times ☹️

I always enjoy an item all the more when I’ve stalked it for months…sometimes, I realize the price is never going to drop, and yes, I want it that bad, but if I can get it for even $10 off??? SCORE! Then I parade around in it just as you described – bwahaha! I love colorful coats and detest the sea of black. I’m becoming more like The Queen as the years advance – I need for (my) people to be able to spot me in a crowd! Maybe I’m just worried about getting senile and wandering around lost…oh well. We’re all glad to see you in your natural plumage and we know your favored color palette and 70’s vibe so well! Congrats on your latest “kill”!

Absolutely gorgeous print! Boden always has such lovely colors and prints. I love them but I too always have to wait for the sales. And yes, that is most definitely the Catheriniest raincoat.

Thank you Michelle – I agree about their prints… they have two winter coats that I’d dearly love to get as well, but a) I have a ton of coats and really don’t need more, and b) they’re STILL expensive even at the sale price!!
This has to be the happiest raincoat ever, love it! Can’t compete with that, my raincoats are black, brown, and, erm, grey. So worth waiting for offers and sales from Boden, I’ve never paid full price for any Boden stuff
