In my Best of the Blogosphere this month I have Disneybounding, a #Proudboys hashtag hijack, the world’s most stylish elderly couple and more!
(My Unmissable Reads are a monthly round-up of things I’ve seen, watched and liked in the blogosphere that I’m sure you’ll love too.)
The clocks went back last night in the UK (boo! even darker evenings!) so I needed to bring you some joyous titbits and stories to bring the sunshine some other way. IMO everything I’ve featured this month is either uplifting, hilarious, inspiring or fascinating. Creativity features a lot too as does quite a few “wow” moments or stories. But I’ll let you be the judge of that…

I loved these 5 easy ways to say no without explaining yourself by Chidi.
I’ve just discovered Kimberly, who creates beautiful, ethereal self-portraits that look like studio shots using a huge team. It’s just her, her camera and a lot of imagination.
Britt and Günther are the MOST stylish elderly couple I have ever laid eyes on in my life… I could only wish to be this beautifully dressed when I’m their age. You’ll never believe how cool they are dancing (think full-on rave, not ballroom).
This was fascinating: Lizzy took part in a study to monitor her shopping approach and food waste habits. I’m like her in that I think I do well, but could do so much better.
I love this as I truly believe EVERYONE is creative (even if they think they’re not): the connection between creativity and living a happy, fulfilled life.
Liyana has introduced me to the term “Disneybounding” (a subtler, more fashion-forward way for Disney fans to create an outfit inspired by a particular character, not full-on costumes like cosplayers) and I’m there for it.
Michelle has written a quick reminder about making sure you get back to yourself after becoming a mum (and how it’s not at all selfish).
This footage of a snowball fight in Lyons in 1896 has been colourized and set to a realistic speed. It’s wonderfully relatable despite showing life from 124 years ago – look out for the poor bloke on the bicycle.
Celeste Barber is at it again, channelling models and celebrities in her ubiquitous way… this time Britney gets the Celeste treatment. I couldn’t stop laughing.
Vogue has discussed why influencers are the retailers of the 2020s: “We want to hear from people, not corporations. A person who will tell you exactly what they love about a sweater… and show you (hopefully a few) ways to wear it.”
George Takei (the original Mr Sulu in Star Trek) asked Twitter to hijack the hashtag #ProudBoys and use it for gay love instead of fascist hate. The resulting tweets are amazing.
This is the funniest house tour I’ve ever seen anyone do on social media (don’t worry, it’s SUPER quick – and that’s the point).
Kate McCue is the fifth woman ever to command a mega cruise ship – someone asked her “How can you be a captain? Your [sic] only a woman”. The commenter got burned with a hilarious, classy response.
“Guilt doesn’t cause someone to change, love does.” Emmanuel Acho, AKA Uncomfortable Conversations With a Black Man, explains what he does with his own privilege.
Victoria may have the best part of a million followers, but even she felt disheartened with social media – she’s discussed how she rediscovered her joy for Instagram.

Catherine, I was surprised and so pleased you decided to share my post here, thank you! <3
I'm having a nice time browsing through the other links you shared. I'm with you, I hope I get to be as fabulous and as sharply-dressed as Britt and Gunther when I'm their age.
And then there's Kimberly, OMG, I am positively green with envy looking at her beautiful photos. I wish I have the skills and artistry to produce such images. Thank you for introducing me to her IG.

Hi Catherine, great links! The German couple is indeed fabulous, but have you also seen Bon and Pon? Very different style, but equally fab!

Thanks Patricia – do you know, as I was compiling this post and adding Britt and Günther it reminded me of a Japanese(?) couple I’d read about a while ago who were incredibly stylish and wore coordinated clothes, maybe it was them? In fact I may even have featured them on an old BOTB post, but I couldn’t find it 🙁 Anyway, Bon and Pon are JUST as amazing, I love them!!!!!!!!!
Awww, thank you so much for including my post Catherine. As always, it’s an honour. I’m looking forward to following the rest of the links xxx
