I’m Selling My Wardrobe on eBay (Auction Only So Don’t Delay)!

Selling My Wardrobe on eBay | Not Dressed As Lamb

If you knew just how long it’s taken me to get round to selling my wardrobe on eBay, you wouldn’t believe me…

[Reading time: less than 2 mins]

I know all too well how I should have started this early on during lockdown, but I guess later is better than never, right?

I most certainly haven’t been idle these past few months (well, maybe just the odd 100% lazy day here and there, sat there with unwashed hair, a bowl of cereal for lunch and too many times saying to myself, “Just ONE more episode…”) – far from it. I’ve completed projects that have taken me months or years to get round to doing.

And selling my wardrobe on eBay – both to clear space and to try and keep at least SOME income coming in, now that work seems to have totally dried up for me – has finally got underway.

This is how I’m organising it: each week I’ll list new items, but be warned: THEY WILL BE AUCTION ONLY. So no Buy-It-Nows, no putting it in your Watch List to sit there forever, all the while not thinking about ACTUALLY buying the item (I know that’s what I do, then I’m surprised when it sells – like What? That was mine! How dare someone else buy the thing I’ve been sat looking at longingly for weeks??).

Some things are brand new and unworn, and some things are barely worn, or worn a couple of times only.

However, you can make an offer, and if it’s fair (and above my minimum acceptable offer threshold) I may well accept it.

I list things for 10 days via Auction, and once they’re gone, they’re gone. You could bag yourself a TOTAL bargain as I list them with pretty low starting prices. Brand new shoes in boxes: £9.99 with free delivery, that sort of thing.

One thing to note: no international delivery I’m afraid. [I’m so sorry.] It’s enough admin as it is to set up for what will be quite little profit, so I’m restricting all my auctions as delivery to UK only.

Below is what’s currently on offer – I’ll try and keep it up to date as they sell, but the auctions often end on a Sunday so go look now!

If you have any questions about the items PLEASE don’t leave them here in the comments, send them via eBay only.

Thanks so much, happy shopping, hope you grab yourself a bargain!

Stay safe XOXO

Hey good for you! I’ve been trying forever to start linking up my too-full closet on Poshmark. Will get around to it lol!! Now I’m wondering if Ebay is perhaps the better way..hmmm…

TBH Lucy I don’t know if eBay is any better than Poshmark or others like Depop – for me it means I can select an auction and that even if it goes for the start price, it goes. I’m happy with a little bit of money and a lot of space rather than the other way around! x

Winds of change, Catherine. Somehow clearing away things really does leave space for us in our lives… for new things and I’m not really talking belongings here. Have you ever considered writing a book? I shall orivate message you on facbook.

Sent an email instead, Catherine, marked “writing books”

Thanks Ratnamurti, I’ve replied! The space is appearing already, it feels good…

Such a great idea, Catherine! I have bags upon bags of things that I should have been listing for sale on Poshmark during quarantine, but instead I sat around and mentally beat myself up for doing nothing. Which was totally ineffective, by the way, because the self beating did nothing to change my level of motivation! You have so many lovely things! My bank account is grateful that I am not the same shoe or clothing size as you and that I live outside the UK! Haha. Good luck and happy selling, my friend!

Are you selling that vintage pink dress that you bought on ebay? The one with the sheer sleeves?

Mary I’m so sorry but I’m afraid not – I won’t be giving up any of my vintage dresses, I cherish them too much! There will be lots more items over the weeks, hopefully you’ll see something that you like x

That is the most perfect dress and you wear it well. Would you run the picture again?

I am in the same predicament….I just wondered if I should sell on Etsy or Poshmark or on Local Selling websites…
why did you chose Ebay? i have not considered it yet

Hi Eva, I’ve been selling on eBay for several years and I guess it’s for two reasons: I know how it works so I’m not having to get to know a new system, and secondly it has the auction option so it means they’ll get sold (even with one bid) rather than sitting there for ages with a fixed price. I want the space as much as I need the money, so the auction option suits me perfectly…! x

This is such a great idea. I’ve been meaning to do this for a long time as we have so much “stuff”, not only clothes but the loft is full of items that someone may find useful. I need to get sorting!

That’s exactly the situation I’ve been in for ages Alison – once you get just one item listed (like most things when you finally start them) you find that you get the rest done super quick! It’s so good for both the space and the pocket money xx
