Everyday Wear: Real Life Dog Walking in the Woods Clothes | Not Dressed As Lamb

I’ll warn you now: there’s not a drop of high fashion here today. Just good old “this is what I wore today” for The New Normal…!

[Reading time: 2 minutes]

Well, not quite what I wore today, but what I wore on Sunday for a long walk in the woods with Keith and Suki. I had no intention of doing an outfit shoot – probably because of what I was wearing – but Keith often takes his camera on picturesque walks to shoot landscapes and our baby girl. The day was cold and windy but beautifully bright. I simply asked Keith to shoot a few pictures of Suki and me, and if they came out okay, I’d include them on the blog.

So here we have some gorgeous pictures of the woodlands near us and a beautiful doggo together with a fashion blogger who looks like she put on the first thing that was to hand that morning.

Oh wait, that WAS the first thing I had to hand that morning… doesn’t get much more real-life than that, does it?!

Everyday Wear: Real Life Dog Walking in the Woods Clothes | Not Dressed As Lamb

There you have it – just about the scruffiest, let’s-get-real-because-this-is-what-I-wear-every-day outfit I’ve ever featured on the blog. I just pulled on wellies* over my tracky bots [joggers], put on my aeons-old khaki parka and grabbed a lilac beanie and matching scarf, because you gotta get coordinated where you can, haven’t you…?

Plus: funky sunglasses. The tracky bots may say “devoid of style”, but the sunglasses do not.

Something I’ve worn to death this winter are my striped wellies* from The Wide Welly Company – now is a great time to support indie brands if you possibly can. If you’re looking for something to ask for your birthday or you simply NEED wellies for all the walks you’re now doing(!), I can highly recommend these if standard wellies won’t go over your calves and trousers together.

(I’ve just seen this: get 20% off full-priced Wide Welly Company boots from 1st-30th April 2020 with code APRIL!)

Hope you guys are all doing okay and not going stir crazy. Thinking of you all and very much appreciating all the love being spread around at the moment… gawd knows we need it.

How are your daily walks going (I hope you’re making the most of them)? Tell me in the comments…!

Stay home, stay safe XOXO

Catherine, this is totally my kind of outfit I usually wear when walking my dog. And love the hat. Have been looking for a light blue one for quite some time.

The perfect attire for a walk in the woods on a brisk day! Suki looks quite happy about the whole thing. And who am I to criticize while it’s soon to be noon and I’m sitting here in my purple terry cloth bathrobe. LOL!

Suki absolutely LOVES walking in the woods, Michelle – so many smells!! And no judgement on the bathrobe…! 😉 lol

  7. 1 April 2020 / 4:28 pm

Yes, this is more our current norm. And I love the photos of the woods. there’s not a whole lot of woods in Florida and I miss them. Thank you for sharing!

Oh that’s a shame, Chrissy – we used to go walking in the woods where we lived when I was a kid and I’ve always loved them. However we only discovered these woods just over a week ago – most of them in this area are private woodlands 🙁 . I chanced upon the sign that pointed towards a public footway and discovered this place… you can imagine how happy I was! The photos don’t even do it justice…!

  8. 1 April 2020 / 2:33 pm

Oh Catherine, your daily walks in the woods are a tonic! Such lovely weather too. We’re close to the Forth-Clyde canal here in the edge of Glasgow. So I’ve at least managed a wee stroll along part of it since lockdown commenced. My birthday on Friday so I may well upgrade that to a cycle.

Happy birthday, hope you have a good one x

I think you always look great, Catherine – even in jogging bottoms and wellies lol! And speaking of wellies, they are probably the most gorgeous pair that I’ve seen. I could do with a new pair but I’d like to find a pair that are a bit goth (!). Not easy to find though. Maybe there’s a gap in the market!!
    Hope you’re keeping well.

Aww thanks lovely Suzy! I had a quick look, you can get wellies with skulls on, or ones with skulls and roses with thorns… is that goth-y enough? x

Well, I think our dogs wouldn’t care if we went naked, as long as we took them for walks. My outfit looks similar, to yours, but khaki wellies and khaki coat with jeans. Most of the time I don’t meet anyone on our walks so my dog misses out on doggy play. Still, there are things to chase and then there are long snoozes in front of the fire to follow, it really is a dogs life. Your Suki looks very fetching in her coat and you look radiant, which is the best part of any outfit anyway as far as I am concerned

Haha that’s very true, Mon!! 😀
Same happens with us for Suki and the other doggos… or if she’s on her short lead then we can’t get close enough to the other dog because us owners would be closer than 2m!!
      Thank you my lovely x

We all need a bit of real life, every once in a while. WFH has been good for me as I’ve been able to get in a good stroll every day for the past two weeks.

  13. 31 March 2020 / 11:41 pm

Well, that is REAL life, isn’t it? The good thing about this terrible time is our having to slow down and enjoy moments like walking in the woods. Our doggies are loving their longer walks and we are seeing people in our neighborhood we’ve never seen before! Lol! So everybody is definitely getting real right now. It’s nice to kick back and sometimes and not worry about what we’re wearing!!

I feel ya. I’ve literally been wearing the same barn boots, body warmer, and denim sherpa jacket every single day when I walk the dog. EVERY. DAY. Today I got saucy and thought maybe I should wash it. I know, cheeky, right?

Even though walking the dog happens outside I still feel like I’m in quarantine and can get away with wearing exactly the same every day, hehe 😀 #ASlipperySlope

  16. 31 March 2020 / 9:28 pm

I’d seriously love to “up my game”, but for example, today I ran out in the middle of the afternoon to help load up hay bales that bounced off a farmer’s truck in front of our farm (we were helping re-load his truck, not scavenging). My Muck Boots saved the day, and my best jeans were unscathed, fortunately. I still HAVE to wear an apron to keep from ruining clothes while I’m cooking, but now I’m putting that roast or stew in the oven mid-afternoon on a Tuesday instead of a weekend-only treat. I like that you still managed to coordinate coat and scarf (love the color). And I ADORE your daily walk stories on Instagram – what gorgeous country you live in! Keep it all coming, sister.

Well, I think you look absolutely adorable, Catherine! I just photographed a similar outfit the other day when Jeff and I went out for a walk. It was his idea to just photograph what I was wearing because it is real life. I have spent most of the past 2 weeks in sweatpants and slippers! Today, however, I actually put on a cute dress and some hiking boots and went for a short trail walk with the family to take some photos. Either way, in my cute dress or my sweatpants, it is my reality and reality is what we have to work with! Thanks for sharing this fun and inspiring post!

The reality of the moment is that we’re all sitting in our home offices now with our ‘comfies’ on. I can’t remember that I dressed up and went out of the house. If I have to run an urgent errand, to the pharmacy or grocery store, I just pop on a pair of jeans and cover my top half with a jacket. It’s a sad state of affairs. I hope my clothes will still fit when we’re let out again. I think the photos are gorgeous and so is Suki.
