This is one of those throw-it-on, super comfy and casual outfits. But without jeans.
[Reading time: 2 mins]
At the risk of alienating about 90% of my audience here(!), most people’s everyday jeans – despite denim being available in many colours – tend to be blue, blue or blue, sometimes black, or blue. And that’s kinda boring if you wear them on a regular basis. I’m sure most jeans fans would admit that the majority of their denims are shades of blue… No? Just me then.
The trouble with always wearing jeans when doing casual (which I tend to do most days, at least during the week when working), is that you always have that block of denim blue. (Or black.) And I don’t know about you, but I tend to get a little tired of that repetitive block of the same neutral colour in all my casual outfits day in, day out.

Therefore, having some super comfy pieces that are not at all denim-y are great because you can go all-out with the colour, and no one’s the wiser that you’re just in regular comfies.
Enter the orange jumpsuit. Or ANY block-colour jumpsuit of your choice.
(Just not denim or black pleeeeeeease)
I guess the idea is to get us out of our comfort zones when doing casual/comfy dressing. Like “jeans and a nice top” for going out, “jeans and a t-shirt” is fine for half the time you’re doing casual – but why not switch it up and get your colour game on for the other half?
Jumpsuits are PERFECT for a throw-on outfit, probably more so than jeans, because the top half is already taken care of.
I’ve worn my orange jumpsuit maaaaaany times IRL, but unfortunately I couldn’t find enough times that it appeared on the blog to do a “5 Ways to Wear” on it. (Sowee. But you CAN see it first worn on the blog here.)
To keep the casual vibes I stuck with trainers, but these gifted JD Williams rose gold trainers* are CRAZY comfy and I love the contrast of Dad Trainers style and pretty soft pinks and metallics. Then threw on a longline pink jacket* (also kindly gifted by JD Williams) and my very old baseball cap.
So there we have it: Casual dressing, but make it fashion. ๐
What are favourite alternatives to wearing jeans when you still want to be comfy? Tell me in the comments…
XOXO

There’s that gorgeous orange color on you again!! It is so your color. You are right about the “blue” jeans. I try to vary my colors but there really is more to wear than jeans, right? Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this.

Thanks Darlene… I’m surprised people aren’t sick of seeing me in orange, lol ๐
What a fun jumpsuit! Beautiful color! I own no denim. The closest I get are jeggings. And while I do have a couple in indigo, I have them in other colors too. I love wearing all the jewel tone colors. Great post!

Wo that’s actually very unusual for anyone to own no denim at all, Michelle! I knew a girl once who never, ever wore trousers – only skirts and dresses – so I applaud your commitment to your own style! And thank you xx
Catherine, I LOVE this color combination!!!!
Author
Thanks so much lovely Joi x
This outfit is so cute. I love the casual vibes and the color combinations. Believe it or not, you’ve helped me break out of my color shell and try mixing colors I’ve not experimented with before!
Author
Chrissy that’s great to hear – thank you hon! x
This is an amazing outfit!
Author
thanks Mary ๐
Haha!
Adore my dark blue, light blue, white, cream and black jeans. But never In skinny!
Orange is your signature colour Catherine and you look fab in it!
I however would look like an inmate from โorange is the new blackโ !!
Each to her own, live and let live is my motto…
Love ya !

Oh Ashley you wouldn’t like a prison inmate from OITNB, lol ๐ (you’d still style it up brilliantly!!)
I can’t even imagine you in skinnies… they are soooo on the way out now. You style your looser denims so well!
thank you xo
What a luscious outfit! The colors are all just scrumptious, and so YOU. Love how the rose gold of the shoes plays with the jacket and hat.
I wear jeans less and less as the years go on, I’m finding….

Thanks Mary Katherine – I was so pleased the trainers and jacket went so well together!
Love that jumpsuit, and I’m with you on the denim, but do love wearing it. ( I have a cute jumpsuit to style for a forthcoming Style not Age challenge). Have a super week. Jacqui. x
Author
Oh don’t get me wrong – I still love wearing denim too, Jacqui… I just need to break out of it once in a while!! ๐
thank you x
Loving this bright jumpsuit on you!
I hope you have a fabulous week!

thank you Amber – you too x
You look super-cute Catherine with your plaits and the baseball cap. I love this jumpsuit on you. Is it the one you wore when you hosted the blogger meet? If so, you look even more stunning in it in real life! Either jeans and a sweatshirt for me when I’m working at home, or my lovely Asquith bamboo leisurewear. Lots of love xxx
Author
Aww thanks lovely Liz – yes it’s the same jumpsuit I wore to the blogger meet (well remembered)! I love leisurewear too, though if I’m not in jeans I’m usually in my workout gear… another “uniform”!! ๐
Apparently I got tired of them, realized yesterday That i had not worn my jeans for over 6 months. So I tried them out again. Love this look on you
Author
Gosh that’s a long time not to have worn them, Linda! You’ve kinda done the opposite to me, hehe ๐
thank you lovely x
I love my jeans, but they can get a bit boring every day. I’m definitely into a comfy jumpsuit and trainers uniform, although mine is grey, you’re rockin’ the orange baybee!
Author
Comfy jumpsuits are the bessssssssssssst, MT, are they not?!! thank you hon x
such a cute way to style a baseball hat. Thanks for hosting. xo
Author
aww thanks Sabina! It’s a fave!
Love this casual wear. I will admit that my only jumpsuit is black and my most comfy joggers are black, another is grey while the last is olive: so not so interesting in color.
Author
I have a black jumpsuit as well, Mireille (i jersey so even MORE comfy than this one)…! But olive joggers are fabulous: they’d go with so many colours, like baby pink and, you guessed it… ORANGE! ๐
Let’s clap for something besides jeans!! Granted I still love and wear my jeans, but it’s nice to have variety too!!
XOOX

Isn’t it, Jodie?!
I am loving this orange jumpsuit on you, Catherine. And it is so cute with trainers and a baseball hat. I am definitely one who relies on jeans for those days of getting dressed because I have to! But I agree that getting out of that jeans monotony is good, too. I find dresses to be super comfortable as well and I have a pair of Glen plaid pants that feel like I am wearing pajamas but look like I am dressed up. So itโs a winning combination! Great post as always!

Oooooh anything that feels like wearing PJs is a winner in my book, Shelbee! ๐ thanks so much xoxo
So the one photo I linked up with the jeans is a copy cat look. I wear jeans once a year, so boring, sorry I’m Dutch. Love your colorful look. You gave me love for orange!
Author
Not boring at all Nancy if you only wear them once a year!! It’s all about getting out of a rut, so by actually WEARING your jeans you’re doing just that! Glad you’re loving orange too btw x
๐
Stunning photos. I’m very guilty of working from home in loungewear! But I love how you paired this jumpsuit with pink. Good colour inspo! xx
Author
Thank you Laurie! I’m 100% guilty of wearing jeans, loungewear or fitness gear in the week… hence why I forced myself to find something bright for the weekend but *without* “dressing up” too much!
