Wearing The Pantone Color of the Year 2019, Living Coral (My Favourite So Far) #iwillwearwhatilike

Pantone announce their new Color of the Year in December, and every year I forget it’s coming around. But as a colour fanatic I’m always excited to find out what’s been chosen!

With every choice they make – especially as an avid lover of colour in my home AND in my wardrobe – I find myself usually loving the special hue (and only occasionally disliking it).

2017’s Greenery was a beautiful saturated moss green which I loved (plants are crazy popular again right now, are they not?)! And I was also a MASSIVE fan (but then so was the whole of the blogosphere it seemed) of the double whammy Rose Quartz and Serenity back in 2016 – you couldn’t move for pink and blue that year. However, let’s just say that 2018’s Ultra Violet did not go down well with me… I’m somewhat glad to see the back of that one.

But my favourite of all HAS to be the new Pantone Color of the Year 2019: Living Coral. I might even have done a little squeal upon hearing it was the newly announced colour for next year, because this is basically my absolute favourite colour of all the warm shades of oranges, reds, yellows and pinks that I love so much (hence my new pink and orange header I revealed in October).

SHOP THE LOOK:

In fact, I’m so known for loving this beautiful, watermelony/corally/orangey shade that my blogger friend Annette immediately messaged me to tell about Pantone’s 2019 choice, knowing how pleased I’d be. I mean, just look at my aeons-old, favourite pair of brogues (above)… Living Coral? The cashmere sweater which I’ve also had FOREVER… Living Coral? I think so!

To get excited over a company telling me what my colour of the year should be is pretty dumb, I know: I can choose whatever colour I like to wear, or to have in my home, or to festoon my Instagram flat lays with (not that I really do many of those anymore). But humour me, why don’t you… someone announcing that your favourite colour in the world should be everybody’s favourite colour? That deserves a WHOOP WHOOP, don’t you think? It’s my favourite colour and YOU will like it too, goddammit! It’s the Pantone law!

Let’s wait until the end of next year when I’m still crying into my coral-everything, sobbing Please don’t leave me… whilst everyone else is sick of the sight of that pinky-orange hue on errthang.

Funny how certain intangible things can inspire an outfit at short notice. Remind me about the colour coral, and I’ll abandon my current love for tangerine (albeit temporarily) and get the bright coral brogues out of my wardrobe ASAP. They’ve been worn SO many times, on and off the blog, and I’ve no idea how old they even are any more (they’re definitely older than the blog, that’s for sure).

The same can be said for the coral sweater which I’ve worn countless ways as well.

The rest of the outfit came together quite naturally: I wore the grey duster coat because of the background colour of the sea in Pantone’s Living Coral image (scroll down to see it), and brown baggy trousers (a recent purchase from Asos) just to continue my current love of all things burnt orange and tobacco brown. A splash of red with the backpack and a fun, spiky pink necklace provided the finishing touches.

Consider the Pantone Living Coral Bandwagon well and truly jumped on…!

Thank you for joining the #iwillwearwhatilike link up! This started as a campaign on Instagram in August 2015 where women over 30 wore everything on a journalist’s list of “inappropriate” items for 30+ women (including leopard print, short dresses and oversized sunglasses. Yes, really). It was so popular that I decided to carry it on weekly where women of all ages link up their fabulous style, never mind what anyone tells them not to wear!

The link up goes live every Tuesday at around 3pm UK time and will stay open for a week. Whilst the original article was of course aimed at the 30+, you can be ANY age to link up. The only criteria is that you’re wearing whatever you damn well like!

Linking up etiquette…

CLICK HERE to read the rules of linking up (and to grab the #iwillwearwhatilike button). Basically it’s just good manners to link back to here – to leave a comment is even nicer!

PLEASE NOTE: This is for linking up WHAT YOU’VE BEEN WEARING ONLY. Non-outfit links will be removed and you might be blocked if you turn out to be a repeat “offender”!

Want to receive an email reminder for the next link up?

Please note that due to the new GDPR laws I’m unable to send an email reminder unless you subscribe to the mailing list of your own accord. CLICK HERE if you wish to be sent an email with a reminder to link up to the #iwillwearwhatilike link up as soon as it’s live!

Do share the love and visit as many links as you can (you never know what other lovely like-minded ladies you might meet) – the original Instagram campaign forged some wonderful new friendships so don’t miss out!
