Yesterday we went to Richmond, one of my favourite places in London, after going up during the day to North London for work. I wore my black biker jacket because the weather forecast said sunshine and milder temperatures,
so I dared to leave the winter coats at home – I’m so glad I did.
When the weather’s this nice a trip down to the river is always a good idea, so a late lunch in a restaurant overlooking the river was just what we needed after a day on the tube and a lot of walking. (I can recommend the Pitcher and Piano in Richmond because the food is a-mazing and the views from the south-facing conservatory or terrace make it the perfect place for a relaxing meal in the sun.)
As we did a lot of walking throughout the whole day (and a six-hour round trip in the car to get to London) I needed really comfy clothes that were still going to keep me warm. UK weather is nothing but unpredictable… I had gloves in my bag – just in case.
As a rule I’m not a fan of too much black, so everything else in this outfit was kept light or bright: My favourite coral cashmere sweater, my I-still-love-it Thomas Wylde skull scarf (which was THE scarf about four or five years ago) and my wide leg trousers, which many of you may recognise as my wedding trousers. The black slip ons added the tiniest amount of height with those chunky soles (so my trousers didn’t drag on the floor) as well being easy to walk in. The silk scarf kept my neck warm without being over chunky or too woolly-warm and my Hobbs orange tote is working with just about everything I wear at the moment, if my last few outfit posts are anything to go by…!
[I WORE] MY FAVOURITE CORAL CASHMERE SWEATER, MY I-STILL-LOVE-IT THOMAS WYLDE SKULL SCARF AND MY WIDE LEG TROUSERS, WHICH MANY OF YOU MAY RECOGNISE AS MY WEDDING TROUSERS.
This spot down at Richmond is a beautiful place to take photos (the last time I photographed an outfit there was in 2013 when I was all over the wedge trainers trend) – if only it were down the road from me, I think I’d be there every weekend…!

Richmond is wonderful. We did a bike tour a couple of years ago that went from Richmond along the Thames to Hampton Court. I loved every minute! Your haircut is really cute!
Oh that sounds so good, Susan – the Thames in this area is so beautiful, bet it was fabulous!! Thank you hun x
I love the scarf – just edgy enough without being over the top! Thanks for sharing!
I am loving how you styled up your biker jacket with gorgeous fresh spring color! You look fabulous and the setting is drop dead gorgeous! Oh, my favorite place to go to relax? Hands down, Santa Barbara CA!

It's lovely down that way, isn't it Yvonne…? Thank you sweetie, sure we'll meet up at some point! x
Love how you've styled the black biker jacket which is normally way too edgy for my style. But you've made it softer and more feminine.
I am simply loving that scarf! I am also loving your ability to take a distinctly un-feminine accessory and manage to make it look ultra feminine. You look super stylish and super comfy!

Thank you Michelle – that's what I love about the scarf: it's a skulls print but made of silk. Love the contradiction! ;))
love the coral on you and it works perfectly with the scarf
Super chic. I love the skull scarf and the polished way you styled it. Perfection as usual, my dear!
Thanks so much for linking up with Fun Fashion Friday!

Oh Catherine, you look fab! The perfect stylish yet practical ensemble. I love that you still wear your wedding trousers too. And yes, I can see why you'd visit Richmond more frequently if you could. I've said it before I know, but I do love your hair like this too. Have a lovely weekend both of you. Lots of love xxxxxxxxx Liz, http://www.whatlizzyloves.com xxxxxxx

This is just down the road to where I live! I hope you enjoyed the rest of your day in London.A fantastic laid back look, I love the scarf and bag

I didn't realise you live that close, Laurie!! I have to say I'm very envious, I'd give anything to still be living in London (I'm not a country girl so Devon has never really suited me)…! Thank you hun x
What a great example of how being "comfortable" does not have to look sloppy or unkempt.
And you have walking shoes on that don't look like my grandmother's shoes!
Now any day going out to eat is a fabulous day for me—although we don't usually have to go 3 hours each way to get there!! Did you do other fun things too? jodie

Hehe thanks Jodie – though "nana" shoes are of course back on trend now…! I was in London for work, so once that was over we headed to Richmond for the meal. Thank you x
Looking chic yet relaxed lovely, fab colours go well with your hair. Really like the skull scarf 🙂
