In my Best of the Blogosphere this month I have (an imaginary) Grace Kelly with lip fillers, the women of 2018, black sequins for New Year’s Eve and more!
(In case you’ve not seen these posts before my Unmissable Reads are a monthly round-up of things I’ve seen, watched and liked in the blogosphere that I’m sure you’ll love too.)
I’m publishing everything a few days later this week due to Christmas Day and Boxing Day – I’m following the lead of the local council collecting the recycling a day or two later after a bank holiday. Otherwise I’d be working on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and no one wants to do that if they’re in charge of their working hours, do they? Choosing what days I work is one of the perks of my job – and I’ll take them whenever and wherever I can…!
So because of Christmas falling on a Tuesday (and the #iwillwearwhatilike post being shifted to Thursday) the usual schedule of fourth-Wednesday-of-the-month for these posts has been mucked up a bit – I’m posting it on Sunday instead.
Confused? I am…! 😉
Do have a read of these great links – you never know who or what you might discover that makes your day/week/month (and I’ll see you on 1st January – Tuesday – for my annual bloopers and outtakes post)!

I thought about writing something like this myself, but someone got there before I did: a look back at the history-making moments that inspired and uplifted women this year: “A year in women 2018“. Just incredible.
Poor Amber has written about her magnetic eyelashes disaster in the past, but I’m calling this latest review “The Russian Eyelashes Debacle” (gird your loins for this sorry but hilarious catastrophe).
An artist who “transforms” beauties of the past such as Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly with today’s botox and fillers and Instagram makeup… the results are fascinating, but frightening.
If you’re a lover of black AND sparkles and sequins, this is what you should be wearing on New Year’s Eve.
The business of blogging: pitching, rates and a year-end review from Alison. Very useful for bloggers.
Stunning gifts that are perfect for all year round by Lisa (she sure knows her luxury goods).
Ashley had afternoon tea at (the very gorgeous – and very pink) Sketch in London and her photos make the hype all the more believable.
How to put together your own gallery wall – if mine looks half as good as Krystal’s I’ll be happy.
7 things Lauren is doing to prepare her business for the new year (great advice for all small businesses and sole traders).
I ADORE these hairstyles: simple holiday hair two ways in 10 minutes.
As an optometrist Lizzy knows her glasses – her round up of 2019 eyewear trends is my go-to guide (check out those incredible “standout” styles)!
How Corinne got 100k unique monthly viewers on Pinterest in just 47 days.
Michelle’s observations of her first US Christmas were very interesting – how can two Western English-speaking countries be so different?
Vicki accidentally left her phone at home last week – and she found it wasn’t actually all that bad.
Leah talks about the importance of over 30s in fashion – even those in their 30s feel ignored by the media it seems.
And a few Not Dressed As Lamb posts you perhaps missed first time around:
3 Top Tips for a Happy, Stress-Free Christmas (pin for next year!),
Vintage 1970s One-Shoulder Gown (The Vuelio Blog Awards) and
Wearing The Pantone Color of the Year 2019, Living Coral (My Favourite So Far)

We HAVE, haven’t we Judith? I thought it was a fantastic reminder of all the amazing women that have inspired us over the last 12 months 😀
Some really great reads here, Catherine! I love the Women of 2018 article and the eyelash extension one had me laughing in my coffee! Thank you for sharing!

That article about the Women of 2018 was amazing, wasn’t it Shelbee?! And poor Amber and her eyelashes, it’s not the first time either 🙁
All of you are amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Happy New Year 2019!

I did thanks Sharon, hope you did too! x
That picture of Audrey Hepburn on the link is monsterous! My goodness modern Kim K beauty looks are taking all the uniqueness out of beauty! It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes about the different ways to be beautiful: “remember that flowers and Christmas lights are both beautiful, but they look nothing alike.” That’s as it should be!
Great roundup, as always!

I agree, Lauren, it IS monstrous!! Your mother was a wise woman x
Thank you for this Catherine. I have just finished reading ‘The business of blogging’ by Alison. Another experienced blogger giving great advice, like yourself.
Even though I’m a newby – I’m now aware of how time consuming blogging and Instagram can be, but so enjoying it!
Looking forward to reading the rest of the posts.
Hope you’ve had a fab Christmas and Happy new year!!
