16 Unmissable Reads, The Best of the Blogosphere (April 2018)

Not Dressed As Lamb's The Best of the Blogosphere, 16 Unmissable Reads April 2018

In my Best of the Blogosphere this month I have Barbie hair transformations, an 80-something lingerie model, greyhounds on bicycles, truly stylish MOTB outfits and more!

(In case you’ve not seen these posts before my Unmissable Reads are a monthly round-up of things I’ve seen, watched and liked in the blogosphere that I’m sure you’ll love too.)

Spring has finally sprung, hurrah! After what seemed like the longest winter ever, we’ve gone from the depths of winter to scorching heat (UK-style) in little over three weeks. But we’re back to spring and that means April showers. But I’m not complaining – the blogosphere seems to be more positive generally as a result of the new season which I’m embracing with open arms.

Do have a read of these great links – you never know who or what you might discover that makes your day/week/month!

16 unmissable reads…

If your jaw doesn’t hit the ground when you see Lisa’s stunning one-shoulder dress for a mother of the bride outfit, then you’re dead inside (dead inside, I tell you)!

Toni talks about how as a blogger you CAN fake till you make it, however: “Don’t pretend you’re bigger than you are with a larger readership, but give the professional approach“.

Why companies should choose a Generation X blogger to promote their brand.

I’ve just discovered the fantastic(al) Instagram account of Dominique AKA @allthatisshe – yes, you’ll get carefully curated, beautiful photos, but not of a lithe fashionista pulling duck faces: expect greyhounds riding bicycles and charming Mary Poppins clones instead.

Charlotte explains why it’s so important to stand up for what you believe in, even when someone doubts you. Wise words for someone so young.

Is this the sexiest (grey leather) pencil skirt in the entire history of pencil skirts ever?

I love going to car boot sales/boot fairs (US equivalent: yard sales) – Ashley has expertly shown how she styled all her boot fair finds in her home.

You’ll LOVE these stunning Barbie hair transformations if you’re female and had a Barbie (let’s face it, most of us did).

All-white outfits are so good in spring and summer, and Jane’s nearly white outfit (with a touch of pattern and neutrals) is spring perfection.

Why we should all smile more by Daniella: “We can all afford to spread a little light in a world that is full of love, light and hope even if it may not feel like it at times.”

At 83 Dorrie is a fabulous, fearless octogenarian lingerie model.

I’ve loved watching Annette’s style evolve over the years and I have to say her styling of cropped brown trousers proves that brown is a fantastic colour for spring.

Liz talks about her own wellness journey and what wellness is: physical, emotional, occupational, intellectual, spiritual and social wellness are all covered.

If you’ve ever wondered how interiors experts get their shelves looking so stylish, Kimberly’s step-by-step shelf styling post is just what you (and I!) need.

Michelle has shown what to wear to an awards ceremony if you’re carrying extra weight – I’ve known her for years and I would never have guessed that she was (goes to show how cleverly she chose what to wear).

I have a black and white gingham dress which I love and I so need this to switch it up a bit: 13 ways to style a gingham dress.

A great roundup, as usual. I just wanted to ask what happened with the over 40 collective? You don’t mention it any more, yet you were so behind the whole idea… It just seems a bit strange… Sorry if this is intrusive, I appologise if it is. Regards from Belgrade, Serbia

Not at all intrusive, Milena… unfortunately we were all far too busy individually to really invest enough time into it and approach brands. What we really needed was an assistant to liaise on our behalf, but that just wasn’t practical in the end! We decided to disband, it was perfectly mutual, just a real shame but we’re all just too busy! x
