So every day is a pile-on-the-layers day now, and I’m soon going to have to come up with many more cold weather outfits.
Temperatures have plummeted this week in the UK (we’re below zero overnight now), and whilst this week has been a week of glorious sunshine it’s been cold. When we went for a walk in the woods over the weekend (it’s really just a longer, more scenic route to the supermarket) I made sure all the layers were piled on underneath my coat.
(Which, by the way, it still an old favourite from a couple of winters ago: It’s hard to find tapestry coats but this blue and white patterned coat is a close match if you’re after something similar.)
After talking about my Black Friday purchases in Monday’s post, I’m wearing a couple more things from the same spree here. The grey faux leather baseball cap is a perfect all-rounder when you’re having a bad hair day (hmm I seem to be having a lot of them lately) – it’s nice to have a neutral colour one without any logos on it. I think you’re either a die-hard baseball cap wearer or you’re not… I’ve always been the former for as long as I can remember.
But those of you that know me well know that I’m an every hat wearer to be honest…!
SHOP THE LOOK:
I also picked up these super comfy turn-up straight leg jeans as I’ve wanted to get some with a deep hem for a while – they’ll look great with ankle boots, heels or sneakers. I’m pretty much over skinny jeans now (don’t think I’ve even worn them once this year)… I’m loving straight leg, flares and (those old favourites!) boyfriend jeans sooooo much more. I’ll wear them under knee high boots just for practicality’s sake but not on their own anymore I don’t think.
Tomorrow I’m posting the exciting results of the first part of my beauty overhaul – after writing about why it’s important to update your beauty look and routine a few weeks ago I’m sticking to my word and practising what I preach. A few “bits” of me (not quite sure how to describe them collectively!) are going to see some change… It’s good to get yourself a new look and have a little tweak now and then – a bit like finally shaking off the skinny jeans thing.
I can’t wait to show you part one!

Thank you Laurie – have you tried a fedora? There are very few people who they don't look good on…!
I think a great statement coat is perfect for any outing when the temperatures drop like now!!
I do have a couple of varieties of styles of jeans, but I'm not sure I can just "give up" my skinnies—how will I wear my OTK boots otherwise??
