“Bold pattern” has to be one of my favourite #iwillwearwhatilike themes so far!
The theme is, as always, optional but I’d especially love to see what bright, bold patterns you’ve got to show off this week. Scroll down to see all details about the link up!
This (incredibly bright) wrap is by Tommy Hilfiger and I got it for a steal at TK Maxx years ago (last seen here). I’ve seen the belted wrap look a lot on Pinterest lately, and I’ve been wanting to try it myself for ages. My wrap is very large and rectangular, but belting would work with any poncho-style wrap or oversized scarf. With temperatures in the UK dropping to below zero over the weekend I needed the layers – and yes, I’ve succumbed to tights under jeans for the first time this season.
I’m nice and toasty and I’m not complaining!
I think the dark denim flares were the perfect style jean to wear with this wrap – they’re a good neutral contrast to the brightness of the pattern. I’m also fully aware of the Clint Eastwood/Man with No Name vibes I’m giving off with the combination of fedora and ‘poncho’. The husband kept humming the tune to “The Good the Bad and the Ugly” at me and I still have it stuck in my head…!
Talking of flares: Reaching for them much more often than skinnies now. All those platform boots I bought a few years ago are now my friend.
Let me know what your favourite bold patterns are! Plus do you think skinnies have [almost] had their day? Let me know in the comments or tweet me @notlamb!

Thank you for joining the #iwillwearwhatilike link up! This started as a campaign on Instagram in August 2015 where women over 30 wore everything on a journalist’s list of “inappropriate” items for 30+ women (including leopard print, short dresses and oversized sunglasses. Yes, really). It was so popular that I decided to carry it on weekly where women of all ages link up their fabulous style, never mind what anyone tells them not to wear!
So link up all your fabulous outfits (or shoes, accessories, make-up, etc.) every Monday at 3pm UK time – it’ll stay open for a week. Whilst the original article was of course aimed at the 30+, you can be ANY age to link up. The only criteria is that you’re wearing whatever you damn well like!
My favourite LEATHER/SUEDE outfits from last week’s link up…
(L-R) Lady of Style | No Fear of Fashion | Jodie’s Touch of Style | Retro Chic Mama | Two Take on Style
All I ask of you linking up is that you:
1. Please follow your host Not Dressed As Lamb (via Bloglovin or Instagram)
2. Link up your outfits (blog or Instagram posts) that show how you choose to wear what you like – as many as you like!
3. Include a link back to this post if you’re linking from a blog post, or add my button (below)
4. Post your outfit on Instagram (if you use it) with the hashtag #iwillwearwhatilike – Monday’s the day to join in the IG fun
5. Visit some of the other links and share the love!
Do share the love and visit as many links as you can (you never know what other lovely like-minded ladies you might meet) – the original Instagram campaign forged some wonderful new relationships so don’t miss out!
Oh gosh I was in your favourite leather selection. What fun. Thanks. Colourful patterns.. hmmm ai should have a few but not many. Missed this iwearwhatilike. Too busy at the office and a RSI shoulder/arm means less blogging. Bummer.
That particular blue is amazing against your skin & new hair colour Catherine!
Thanks so much for including me in your favourites of last week, it's such a buzz xxx
My pleasure, Michelle – and thank you!!
I'm definitely more of a "neutrals" girl, dearest Catherine…but adding some bright, bold pattern to my look via a scarf like this fringy Tommy Hilfiger beauty?! That's something I think I need to try for myself!! I have, however, been a fan of flares for a while, too…I'm actually featuring them in my own look today!! P.S. You've got my vote for "Best Fashion Blogger" in the bag!! XOXO
Aww Monika THANK YOU for voting for me!! But I knew I'd be able to count on you :))
You're a bit of a flares expert – you look awesome in yours so that's a great compliment coming from you!! xx
What a fun poncho! Looks great with flares! Love the hat & the shoes, too!
There goes another vote for the purple boots…!! So glad I kept them after thinking about getting rid of them! Thank you Andrea x
Such a super cute outfit, Catherine! I do love that blue hat on you! And you look so snug. Gorgeous 🙂
Thank you Suzy, sweetie!! xo
I am in love with your boots and shawl such wonderful colours for this time of year. xx
It's always nice to break out the brights in the cold weather, isn't it Victoria?! Thank you hun! x
Beautiful and colorful poncho 🙂
Thanks so much, Ivana!
Gorgeous poncho! And thanks as always for posting – I love this linkup. xox
Aww Patti that's so nice of you to say – thank you!!
So you know Norbyah right? Well, she and some other very fashionable peeps in Hong Kong hosted a swap the other day, and I picked up a couple of Norbyah's cardigans. I'm not sure how I will style them, but this belted look, I've gotta try it. Sensational.
And honey, BLUE is your color!! So pretty on you.
As always, thank you for the sensational link up (that I look forward to all week long;).
Love, Ann from Kremb de la Kremb
Oooh fancy going through Norbyah's wardrobe… Jealous!! And thank you Ann my sweet, you're so lovely xo
love the boho chic style. Beautiful colors here!
thank you so much for hosting the link up
You're right, it IS a bit boho chic, Irene! Thank you x
Love the Clint Eastwood look! Not sure how he would have looked in flared jeans though?! I am such a jean fan that I love all styles, especially flares, but I love skinnys too. My mood determines what jeans style I wear so I never get rid of any. Your flares are so great and the boots are perfect. Thank you for hosting.
Hmm I think the straight leg look worked better for him, Cherie!! Thank you my lovely x
I love the bold colors and pattern of your wrap! And those shoes are amazing too.
Wow everyone's really loving the boots, Alice – good job I didn't get rid of them like I thought about doing…! Thanks sweetie x
But let's face it, Clint couldn't have rocked this outfit the way you do, so you win! Gorgeous, gorgeous colours.
He might have looked a bit odd in the pink, Jacqueline…!! But thank you, you're a sweetheart as always x
I love this wrap and the way you belted it is perfect. The colours you've combined also look rather amazing, I especially love the colours of your shoes. The way they pop against the denim is stunning. 🙂
Daniella thank you! You're the layering master so I bow to your great knowledge, hehe xx
Catherine, first of all thank you for another opportunity to make new friends through your link up party. Next, well I really don't know where to start with this fantastic mix today. I love the hat, and the boots and most of all the multi coloured wrap! Even the flared jeans are the right choice to pull this look off. Yes, a bit Clint Eastwood, but hey in such a good way and how sexy is he? You look fab as ever.
Anna's Island Style
How sexy, Anna? Pretty bloody sexy, if you ask me!! (My mum's favourite!) Thank you – so glad you're enjoying the link up :))
I love that look! I would really like to try a belted wrap one of these days! 🙂
Do it, Laurie! It was one of those "ooh this looks gooooood" moments when I did it 😉 And thank you x
That poncho is amazing! I love the colors and you can totally wear it with anything and every color.
Xo Chelsea http://www.shesaidhesaidfashion.com
Thanks Chelsea – it's probably one of the brightest things I own!
Bold prints are a perfect theme as it shouts "look at me." I put my mom's picture (Charlotte—the 70's age group model from my blog) for the link because it's one of my favorite dresses of hers!! And can I tell you how much I love the color of your boots!!! jodie
ps…thanks for featuring me as one of your faves in the leather/suede category!!
It seems the purple boots are getting some serious love, Jodie!! Thanks sweetie – it was pleasure to feature you and that lovely vintage skirt :))
Loving the gorgeous colors in your look today, Catherine! So vibrant and happy! I especially love how you've styled your wrap with the belt. What a great idea! I must try that. As always, head to toe fabulousness! xox-M
Been meaning to try it for ages as I mentioned, Mary – I really love the look! Thanks hun x
Tights under jeans ….welcome to my world!
I love being cosy and I do not restrict layering to my top half…tights, jeans, wooly socks…all happily layered up. It feels good.
I laughed out loud at your Clint Eastwood comment.
I too had that vibe when I wore a tartan cape over a denim gilet, a few weeks ago now, one of my bosses asked me if I was off to a fancy dress party as Mr Eastwood. I have to admit that I did give off that vibe….especially with my cropped hair (maybe I needed to sort out my moustache?? Hahaha)
At least you have your long hair and a pink pop to steer you away from " The Good, the Bad and The Ugly" territory….:oP
The theme of this week's link up is perfect for me!
I had plenty of bold and bright things to choose from, great for this time of year.
Dark mornings need brightened up!
Thank you for hosting.
So funny that you had the same 'Clint' comments, Samantha…!! And thank you sweetie for your (as always) lovely comment! x
I love your wrap and I think you look a whole lot better than Clint!!!
aww Janise thank you, though I don't know if that's possible…!! ;))
Darn! I was hoping for a close-up of the boots. They look amazing.
I had a very similar look on my blog about 3 weeks ago and referenced Clint Eastwood as well.
Amazing, isn't it Suzanne how just a poncho and hat makes people go: Clint!!!! And hopefully you've got my tweet of the boots from another shoot now… I thought about a close up but it would have meant hoiking up my jeans and I couldn't think of a "natural" way to do it! Thank you sweetie x
I really love the colours in this look, one of my favourites! I habe bold oriental print PJs on my blog this week, couldn't be more appropriate for this link up! X
Ooh you might be the only oriental print on the link up, Porcelina…! And thank you xo
Hi Catherine – looking so chic in this outfit! Love the cobalt blue hat. Gorgeous!
Adrienne that's so sweet of you – thank you!
I love everything about this, all of the color especially the purple boots and blue hat. I have been obsessing over boots lately. hard to find ones with a small heel. The scarf looks wonderful styled this way and the fringe fun and trendy! Love it with the flared jeans. I hope to do a week of jean looks, inspiring my friend!
Funnily enough I've been eyeing up loads of flat boots over at Asos, Jess – have you tried there…? And thank you my lovely, always great to see you here! x
I know nothing about jeans, but you look fantastic. Clint eat your hear out, lol.
Trust me to be in white and grey today, hahahhaha
Thank you so much, dear Catherine.
Haha – for once I am more colourful than you, Sacramento! You're still as stylish as ever, though 🙂
Thank you my lovely x
I love everything about this outfit, it is perfect ( and i sure hope skinnies aren't done because I am not done with them)
Aw thanks Linda! I have a feeling skinnies will still be around for a while too 🙂
