I’ve been meaning to publish this outfit for ages – I’m so behind with editing photos!
I got all dressed up a couple of weeks ago to go to a Johann Strauss concert, and a live orchestra deserved a pretty dress on my part. (If you can’t dress up when you go to see a live orchestra when can you?)
It was too chilly for a short-sleeve dress by itself so I layered my apple motif sweater over my Asos two-tone scuba dress and added one of my favourite Christmas presents (from the husband) – the pink polka dot scarf from What Lizzy Loves, the online boutique run by my lovely blogging friend Liz. Seems Silver Londoner has been supporting my fellow bloggers without my knowledge… what a trooper! I absolutely love it (plus there’s another scarf which you’ll also see in time on the blog).
Did you receive any fabulous Christmas presents that you can wear? And were they a complete surprise (like mine were) – or did you drop some hints…? I’d love to know 😉
Scarf: What Lizzy Loves, Sweater: Fever London, Dress: Asos (on sale!), Boots: c/o Pavers, Bag: Asos, Earrings: Asos, Bracelets: Asos / Next
Blue and grey are my favourite colour, so I so love that outfit. Great combination <3

Thank you so much sweetie! x
Hi Catherine I'm new in your blog I love your style it's very chic and elegant I'm also in my forties and it's very hard to find how to dress up because most of the fashion industry is for young people I'm glad that you can show us that we don't need to be young to love fashion.
My style is casual and comfortable usually jeans and sweater or tshirt I only dress up when I have a event.
Hi Ana – thanks so much for your lovely comment, it's always nice to meet a new reader! I'm very much like you – I'm a definite jeans n t-shirt kinda girl but do enjoy dressing up when the occasion calls for it (but that doesn't have to much)! It's all about what you make it… I definitely don't believe that the fashion industry is only for the 20-somethings. I've decided to claim it for myself and just have fun with it… it works for me!!

I love your scarf and your boots! Your photos look amazing as always!!!
xo,
Janise
Janise thank you! I'll tell the photographer 😉
Love the sweater! Gorgeous! I too often wear dresses as skirts, amazing how much more wear you can get out of them and how well it works! The boots are fabulous too. Lovely 'get up' as always! X
Kate / Pouting In Heels #fashionfriday
Thank you Kate – it's a bit of a no-brainer just to layer something over a dress in the winter but it's amazing how rarely I think to do it…!!
I have no idea why it works, but your outfit works. Very sweet of your husband to buy you something from your friend's shop.
Greetje
I often have no explanation why an outfit works, Greetje… but I just go with the flow!! Thanks my lovely x
Oh my, oh my, do I feel silly now Catherine! I have been a long time follower of Not Dressed as a Lamb but for some reason was having an extremely slow moment this morning when reading your comment! I never expected that one of the bloggers I love dearly would like me back and comment on my page! What a small small world 🙂 So happy to be new blog friends and be able to put two and two together, that you are "the" Catherine! 🙂 Happy Friday!
Chelsea
Ginger Side of Life
Aww I'm so sorry I'd not discovered your blog before, Chelsea… but I have now – and how flattered am I that you've been following me all this time and that you say I'm "the" Catherine?! That's, like, the best compliment ever!!!! Yes – definite blog friends now xx
My aunty bought me a knitted snood, it's not really my style but it will definitely come in handy for my Winter holiday in a couple of weeks. Love your motif sweater, such a fun look! Love the frilly handbag and the classic black boots. You look great.
Thank you Lorna so much – I also got a knitted snood for Christmas! It's mustard which is a colour I love x
Okay why don't I have a cute apple sweater? I am a teacher after all! 🙂 Love this adorable look and love your style! Thanks so much for linking up with FUN FASHION FRIDAY!

Thanks Rubi – it's a great way to get more mileage out of your wardrobe :))
That is such a pretty scarf, he does have great taste
I did think he may have asked Liz for which one I might like but he apparently didn't – he chose two scarves by himself! He did alright, didn't he Linda…?!! Thanks hun x
I love how you tired the scarf, it adds such a great interest to your lovely outfit!

Hope to see you Thursday for TBT Fashion link up.
Thanks Alice – funnily enough the top half of the dress (that's under the sweater) is actually the same colour as the scarf, so I think that's why I chose it to wear it with the outfit. xx
One of my daughters gave me a lovely patterned cardigan, which apparently my other daughter described as "crazy", and I love it. Guess that means I'm crazy?! My OH gave me some money to spend in the sales, so I had lots of fun spending it,
Crazy's good, Sue, better than being boring!!!!! And having money to spend in the sales is ALWAYS fun – hope you got yourself some bargains! C x
I love that apple sweater!
