Winter Whites | Textured Roll-Neck Sweater and White Skinnies

Winter whites (skinny jeans and roll neck sweater) - over 40 fashion
After buying this fabulous in the Asos sale and absolutely falling in love with it, I decided to don winter whites and wear it with the white skinnies that I put into storage for some silly reason last winter.

I actually think the sweater (which is not only reduced from £150 to £45 but also incredibly soft) looks better with white than it would have done with black – and I went the whole nine yards with taupe/nude accessories. The La Redoute ankle boots (last worn here) are the perfect colour for an all-white ensemble, especially white skinnies. I can see these boots being my footwear of choice for these jeans over the colder months… watch this space!

I also wore my new Wolf & Moon earrings from Project J that were kindly gifted to me – the style is unlike anything else I own but they are so ‘me’… I love them! They’re very chunky but the clever design (with all the different textures: wood, glitter and glass) makes them quite delicate-looking. They sound heavy but they’re actually as light as a feather.

Are you cosying up in your knitwear yet – or are you sporting winter whites like me? Maybe you’ve found a better bargain than my £150-down-to-£45 sweater… Do share in the comments 🙂

Aww Cherie thank you… seems that everyone loves my red hair with the winter whites!

Your winter whites are looking lovely. I was going to ask about your hair too, but saw your explanation in the comments above. I think that's my favourite bit of this outfit – the contrast between your hair (which is fab) and the brightness of the whites!

    • 4 November 2014 / 5:31 pm

Thank you Amy! I always forget that my hair adds another colour to my outfit, and yes I agree about the contrast working 🙂

There's something about winter whites that does scream "sophistication" isn't there, Annette? The irony is I'm so NOT sophisticated… it's all a front, haha!!! Thanks so much x

I have loved Winter White since waaaaay back in 2003 when I owned the perfect Winter White trousers. I alternated wearing them with a Pearl and seed bead covered WW shell or a long lace WW jacket. Thanks for bringing back sweet memories of outfits past. :o)

My best bargain I think are my £75 to £15 suede boots, or £90 to £40 wool coat! All white looks great on you, I think it's the red hair and glowy skin that sets it off!

I love the winter white sweater with the winter white skinnies. I would never have put these two together in winter. Great idea. I am confident to wear white now this season, accessorized with tan. You have a new follower! 🙂

Love that all white trend Catherine. Even better with camel acc. How did you do your hair? Love it! xo Sabina @Oceanblue Style

    • 3 November 2014 / 9:45 pm

Thanks so much Sabina! It was (unfortunately) one of those "aaargh quick I need to put my hair up" jobs… I took the front section up into a sort of quiff and clipped it on top, then (and this is the complicated bit to explain), I got hold of all the hair as if to put it up into a high ponytail. I flipped my head forward, then put one of those big barrette clips across my flipped-forward hair, so that when I flipped my head back again the clip was underneath the "ponytail" – that's why it's all pouffy at the back.

      I hope that makes sense…?!! x
