Neckline Statements | An Embellished Collar & 3D Printed Jewellery

White pearl collar & name necklace
I’ve mentioned before that I love dressing up a casual outfit with at least one statement piece, and a crew neck sweater is the perfect blank canvas to add a scarf or statement necklace.

And in true Carrie Bradshaw style, I’ve rediscovered personalised jewellery lately – an area where 3D printing is now being applied. I mean, I still can’t get my head round three dimensional objects being “printed out” (like the wind-powered robot for example) – I think it sounds like the stuff of science fiction (I’m easily impressed by science as you can probably tell)! Thanks to 3D printing jewellery designers Zazzy, I had the opportunity to chose a name necklace with a difference – something that would be even more personalised than just my name, and made with sciencey stuff…!!

So instead of Catherine (it’s often too long for a name necklace and I never, ever shorten my name) I chose my professional title of “fblogger”. I thought about having the Twitter hashtag of #fbloggers, but fblogger just looked aesthetically more pleasing in the preview on the website. It was very easy to order through Zazzy, and with lots of different designs you can see what your name or word looks like before you buy. Unlike metal jewellery, 3D printing makes the piece much chunkier and bolder, and I also liked the fact that it’s not really obvious what mine says or means… makes me a little more mysterious perhaps?!

Do you own anything that’s been 3D printed? Or do you have any personalised jewellery: what does it say and what style is it? I’d love to know so do share in the comments!

I still don't "get" how a regular printer works, dear Catherine…never mind a 3D version!! 😉 I love your idea for the necklace; and those boyfriend jeans are simply perfect!!

So cute how your collar corresponds with your lace ballet flats, Catherine!

Great name choice Catherine. I can't get my head around anything like that at all. I don't have anything with names on, but do have a little Pandora bracelet with charms which mark different events or occasions x

I've got a charm bracelet too Keri, a traditional silver one with all the charms representing different things in my life. Glad you like the fblogger idea! x

Thanks Anna – I was unsure about getting such a bright colour for cashmere but I've worn it loads…!
