A week ago today I was lucky enough to attend the swanky (love that word!) launch of the What I See Project in London which you may have read about in my September 5th post. See the end of this post for more details about the project – and there’s another chance to see my video contribution (I’m talking and everything 😉
So of course the usual fret over what to wear started long before, but as there was a drinks reception first I decided to read the invitation as “cocktail party” (and why not). Basically, I just like to find any excuse to wear a dress and a statement necklace, and I knew I wanted to wear my beautiful Reiss dress I bought earlier this year and over-the-top Asos necklace (sold out sadly, but I’ve chosen some fab alternatives below). Rather than tights, I went with black skinnies instead to tone down the party dress feel to it – plus I like having that gap of skin at the feet and ankles – and my bright blue pointed heels.
I love any excuse to dress up, and I was not going to turn down an invite to a launch party in the Science Museum, of all places…!
The launch party was held at the Science Museum in London in the flight gallery (see below) – what an amazing venue! Just to briefly explain the project if you missed my original post: The question “What Do You See When You Look In The Mirror” has been asked to hundreds of women from all over the world. It’s a global online platform that recognises and amplifies women’s voices, and through their unique answers to the question, women everywhere are empowered by relating to each other’s stories.
It was a fabulous evening (free champagne!) and it included a film plus a Q&A with some of the project’s ambassadors. If you’d like to read more about the project, go to http://whatiseeproject.com, and if you’d like to find what was my answer to the question, click here to check out my contribution – or watch the embedded video below!
Thank you to the What I See Project team (especially Jaclyn!) for asking me to take part and inviting me to the launch, what a great evening it was. As was mentioned on the night this is only the start of what is set to be a truly fabulous and hugely inspirational project…!

great necklace 🙂
You look beautiful Catherine! I love that you styled this gorgeous dress with the black skinny jeans for an unexpected twist, perfect! 🙂
Take care,
Daniella xox
Daniella you're a sweetheart as always, thank you xx
I can see why you wanted to wear that dress – it's fabulous! And perfect pairing with the skinnies, what a great look! Very clean, simple and statement making from head to toe. Love it!

You looked ever so lovely. I like that dress a lot as you might remember. As far as I am concerned you could have worn it just as a dress as well. You are right that the black skinnies tone it down. Still looking razor-sharp though. Nice necklace.
I think this is one of the few times I have seen you in only three colours. You do have different dressing styles. All the better. More for us to discover.

Hehe I do "tone it down" every now and then, Greetje…!
Wow, Swanky Rock n Roll suits you! (yes, I had to use the word swanky 'cause it IS such a great word) :o)

That is a beautiful dress, I have been eyeing up something similar but I'll have no where nice to wear it to 🙁 xxx
You look absolutely incredible. That bright necklace pairs with the white of the dress perfectly, and I love your hair style!

What a lovely compliment! Thank you Daryl! x
gorgeous dress and necklace, Catherine! And the skinnies are a wonderful addition. xo
OMG I love that necklace, great alternatives resented. Thank you. I have to say your posts and your outfits always make me smile.
That's lovely to know – thanks Linda!
I adore the concept of wearing skinnies with a short dress, this is a great look, and could take you into many events! Looking fab!

Thanks Nicolene – these jeans are perfect because they've got not waistband or buttons (the zip's on the side), so there's no lumps or bulging under the dress at the front :))
wow you look so pretty all dress up! gotta love your ba, it's fabulous!!
