I was lucky enough to be offered a £30 voucher from the lovely people at Zalando.co.uk – a young, new fashion boutique selling exclusively online.
They said I could buy something of my choice and wear to show you guys – I hope you love this yellow cocktail dress as much as I do!
I did cheat a little and actually bought something that was £50, but I absolutely fell in love with this dress – and to be honest I would have happily paid a lot more than £50 for it. To me it smacks of a designer label, and the unusual design with the loose back and high/lo hemline is stunning, and surprisingly flattering. As it’s now December, I can’t wait to wear this beauty to a Christmas party – it’s also going to be the perfect dress for a smart summer wedding.

Zalando has only launched recently in the UK; they sell women’s clothes, shoes and accessories, plus sportswear, menswear, childrenswear and beauty. As someone who shops almost exclusively online, I think it’s the closest thing to ASOS I’ve found yet, and that’s probably the biggest endorsement I can give any online retailer.
Another thing I find really important when shopping online is to be able to sort by size, brand, colour and price, and Zalando allows you to refine your results by all those categories. And although there’s a lot of designer labels at prices to match, the range of reasonably-priced items is huge, so you wouldn’t have to worry about finding something if you’re on a tight budget.
The only thing I found a little disappointing was that delivery, although free, is 3-5 working days as standard, with no option for next day delivery. Not so good, then, if you decide you need a party dress on a Friday morning for the weekend – but overall they really impressed me, enough to go back and shop there when I need something specific. In fact, I placed another order just yesterday…!
So is Zalando my new ASOS? It’s pretty close!

yum it's gorgeous. They probably put the price up after they saw how good it looked on you!! Great taste and styling as always
Gosh what an unusual and beautifully cut dress. The colour is great on you.
I've been a huge Zalando fan for ages – their boots and shoes are wonderful and comfortable as well, particularly the Vagabond range. However, they still ship all their stuff from abroad, which is why you can have delays with postage.
WOW!! You are adorable. I LOVE this outfit and your blog! I am your newest follower!!! I'm Hanna. Nice meeting you, You can find me at http://www.bouffeebambini.blogspot.com
Aww thank you Hanna, and it's nice to meet you too! I'll pop over and check out your blog sweeetie x
There is something so ancient empire about this dress! I love that the front with the structural belting is such an unexpected balance to the flowy back. And the color is just breathtaking with your gorgeous locks!!! I will be checking this shop out for sure… ~Sarah
Zalando launched in The Netherlands a year ago I think. They offer such a lot of stuff. From cheap to very expensive. I just always get lost on their site. No matter how many filters they offer me. It is too much. They are quite good in paying your money back when you return something.
And the yellow dress? Very nice, but also because you know how to style it with your shoes, jewellery and tights. Again a job well done.
Good to know, Greetje – thank you! x
Precious. Beautiful dress. Wonderful outfit. Words fail me …
"Words fail me" is a pretty awesome compliment, Josep! Thank you so much :)))

You look amazing. I don't think I've ever seen a high-low hem pulled off so well.
Thanks Ambika – normally I don't like the idea of that hemline on me, but I loved it on this dress as soon as I saw it! C x
