My School Jumper and My Wedding Trousers

I’ve slightly cheated in my post description title… this isn’t really my actual school sweater [I much prefer the word sweater now, but at school it was a jumper]…

It’s actually an old 70s Marks and Spencer one I bought from eBay a couple of weeks ago. For all intents and purposes it’s the same, but ours didn’t have any pattern on them. To be honest I’m amazed I’ve bought something even vaguely resembling my old school uniform (I always swore I’d never wear bottle green in my life again) – another little thrifted gem added to my retro collection.

And the wide-legged trousers are the actual ones I wore on my wedding day six years ago (so Bianca Jagger of me!). They’ve been such a great winter staple (see them worn on the blog here, and here), who’d have thought I’d still be wearing years later what I wore to get married?! As they were in the sale at the time, the pay-per-wear on these babies must be a lot lower than the average ppw on most wedding dresses I reckon…!

On Thursday (first day of spring, yay) I’ll be posting my round up of my favourite winter outfits – so glad warmer days are finally on their way :))

P.S. A huge thanks to all who commented on my last post – I was really overwhelmed by all the support from everyone. I wasn’t fishing for compliments at all (hard to make that sound honest, but I do mean it), it was merely an excuse to get my feelings off my chest about thoughtlessness and showcase some great fellow bloggers to counteract the negativity. It goes to prove once again what a great little community we have going on :)))))

As another gems architect who turn its affection for adornments for something more I know how hard it could be to be perceived or simply increased in value.

i really love that sweater, everything about it-print, colour and of course fax fur colar! Your photos are just perfect, may I ask what camera do you use?

    • 1 March 2012 / 2:34 pm

Thank you for your lovely comments, Elekon! My camera is a Nikon D40X; I bought a fixed 50mm f1.4 lens last year specifically for blog photos. You then get great background blur (bokeh) and can continue to shoot even when there's very little light left of an evening. I went for a 50mm lens because it's the most like the view from your naked eye.

Sorry if I sound too photography-technical, but then I may be telling you stuff you already are totally familar with – if it's either way or you want more info let me know! Hope that helps 🙂

    It all looks great together.

I had to look to see where you were from, I was GUESSING from the hat you were an Alabama Crimson Tide fan – – – they LOVE wearing hats like that 'cause their most famous and beloved coach, Bear Bryant, wore them.

Alas Keetha I'm British – I'll have to look up "Alabama Crimson Tide" because I have no idea what that is unfortunately (but I like finding out new stuff)! I'm guessing football – I'll go see if I'm right!

Thanks for your lovely comment! C x

What a great outfit! I love the fur collar with the brooch. You know, I got married in trousers too, only mine were in as gold lurex knit! I've worn them to pieces years ago, but I already promised Anne from the Fourseasonsonewardrobe blog to find the only bad polaroid from the wedding and scan it to share on my blog. I think people would love to see a photo of your wedding as well, to get inspired to save a lot of money.

Wow, gold lurex wedding trousers?!! How totally fabulous, I look forward to seeing that polaroid!!!! Thanks for your lovely comments, K! xx

I'd love to see your wedding outfit too! My sister wore white trousers and maxi coat that buttoned from the sweetheart neckline to the waist so you could see the pants – 1972 and what a trendsetter! I cannot believe what people spend on wedding outfits and I love that you're beautiful, flattering trousers have earned their price:)). I love your blog and thank you so much for visiting me – you're a breath of fresh air!! xo
