Floral Trench with Bronze Heels #iwillwearwhatilike

Floral trench, white midi, bronze heels
I’m still defying the grey, wet weather with some summer brights – but the cool air and the damp won out on this day so on went my Hobbs honeysuckle trench as well.

(My hair also got its frizz on in the wind and the rain which we had to endlessly dodge, so please excuse the bird’s nest.) I may have been fine indoors with a midi and short-sleeved sweater, but I caved when it came to the photo shoot and kept the trench ON…!

After a couple of suggestions for featuring statement shoes as the theme for this week’s #iwillwearwhatilike link up, I decided to go with fabulous footwear and finally got round to wearing the gorgeous bronze heels I’ve had for a few months but not yet worn. (I thought about wearing them with my vintage 50s dress I wore to a wedding a couple of weeks ago, but decided it all looked a bit too retro as the shoes have quite a 1940s/50s feel to them, especially being bronze.)

I like that they subtly echo the warm gold colours of the statement choker from Asos (last seen here) and really complement the white midi: To be honest I don’t think there’s a more classic or elegant shoe shape than this. I think I’ve been so enamoured with Liz’s Jimmy Choos that I felt I needed a pair of my own, though I chickened out of going designer and went with a high street version 😉

Scroll down for the link up (don’t forget the theme is optional!) – and tell me: What are your dream shoes or absolute favourite pair? Are they ones you already own, or do you dream of Louboutins, Jimmy Choos, etc… Do tell me in the comments!

#iwillwearwhatilike link up | Not Dressed As Lamb

Thank you for joining my new #iwillwearwhatilike link up! This started as a campaign on Instagram in August 2015 where women over 30 wore everything on a journalist’s list of “inappropriate” items for 30+ women (including leopard print, short dresses and oversized sunglasses. Yes, really). It was so popular that I decided to carry it on weekly where women of all ages link up their fabulous style, never mind what anyone tells them not to wear.

So link up all your fabulous outfits (or shoes, accessories, make-up, etc.) every Monday at 3pm UK time. Whilst the original article was of course aimed at the 30+, you can be ANY age to link up. The only criteria is that you’re fabulous!

    Nice and perfect looking outfit..

One of my favorite shoes are from Miu Miu. Actually their shoes are pretty comfortable and I experience very minimal discomfort wearing them standing more than 4 hours.

oh Catherine, how absolutely divine do you look here?!! The answer there is VERY! This outfit is very ladylike and so so pretty from head to toe, and quite frankly now i need some bronze heels in my life. I have to admit i have caved and started wearing tights as its really brisk here in the mornings (i've just gotten back from my morning doggy walk and i have a bright red nose.. attractive!!)
Anyway thank you for this marvellous link up i am thrilled to have linked my funky butterfly twists.
    Lots of love

Your bronze stilettos are stunning they have a real vintage vibe about them & I adore how they pick up the other metallic flashes in your accessories!
Thanks again for hosting this wonderful link up, I've just added a post of mine. As this is the first time I've ever done anything like this before please bear with me if it isn't quite right technically.
Have a fantastic holiday, I'm looking forward to seeing the pics when you get back xxx

Emmm, I love metallic and these shoes are just dripping in style! Your pattern play here is exceptional as well.

Catherine! Thank you so much for including my sheer lace tunic as a favourite. I'm gushing!! So, statement shoes….I stopped myself at five entries! I think that is good cap for me to consider. Right now, as I continue to hobble around on crutches, my statement shoes are my tennies! I'm happy with it though. I sense a post coming on my end about how physical ailments don't need to inhibit our style. Nope, not at all!

Thanks again on many levels Catherine!

    Love,

Now those are some high heels. And bronze to boot, makes them too cool.

  14. 21 September 2015 / 10:17 pm

Fabulous bronze shoes, and yes, just the perfect pairing with your statement necklace. Also a fun way to bring in just a bit of fall to your wardrobe. I must be honest and say I don't actually have a favorite pair of shoes (although If I were totally being honest, I would probably say my nike free runs, but they don't make much of a statement piece, haha). I just love shoes, I really really love shoes, I believe they can make or break your outfit and they can definetely make for the perfect staement or finishing piece.

  15. 21 September 2015 / 9:36 pm

Amazing shoes but seriously, that coat is the best!!x

    • 23 September 2015 / 11:43 am

Hehe thanks Kezzie, it is kinda awesome, isn't it…!

  16. 21 September 2015 / 9:23 pm

Hi Catherine, I just love the bag, shoes and necklace tie in you've done here. The vintage shoes are divine and of course nearly impossible to walk in, I'm sure, but hey we sometimes have to suffer for our art! Bravo!

    • 23 September 2015 / 11:43 am

As I mentioned to Melanie they're pretty comfortable, Anna – the strap helps as you don't have to try and keep them from coming off your feet! Thank you so much, glad you liked it xx

  17. 21 September 2015 / 8:56 pm

Great shoes, Catherine, and I admire your talent at wearing those skinny heels!

    • 23 September 2015 / 11:42 am

Thank you Melanie – they're pretty easy to walk on surprisingly… I think it's because my feet have been strapped in (literally)!! x

  18. 21 September 2015 / 8:38 pm

I simply adore the outfit you are wearing; I especially like the colours!
Thank you for choosing my picture as one of your favourites from last week's link-up. I am so honoured. Xx Carin (@catoinamsterdam)

    Dear Catherine,
the colors of your outfit are like a sunny spell in a grey autumnday 🙂 and your shoes are amazing!
I do two linkups and I hope this is ok – I LOVE statement-shoes and I could not decide which pair I love more 🙂 – for me the brand of my shoes is not important – it is important for me to walk with one's head held high 😀

Thank you for hosting another great link-up!
I love your choice of "sheer" from last week…what beautiful ladies.
Where to start with the dream shoes…..hmmmm… I could (of course) never say no to some high-end designers, Prada, Charlotte Olympia, Rupert Sanderson, BUT (to be perfectly honest) some high street brand are amazing. Topshop Unique (and their premium range), Irregular choice (so much fun) and even the old faithful Clarks…they have some great designs.
I am a bargainista at heart, but If you are buying those Jimmy Choo's For me……Aw shucks…I'm a size 4! :oP

My pleasure, Samantha – you seem to be a girl after my own heart with your taste in shoes…!! xx

  24. 21 September 2015 / 5:20 pm

I love your outfit. The coat and shoes are amazing. Dream shoes: I don't think I could ever pay more than $100 for a pair of shoes so I don't favor any high end brands. Nine West is probably as fancy as I'd ever go!

    • 23 September 2015 / 11:36 am

I tend not to go for high end brands either, Amy – but don't like buying super cheap either! Thank you so much, glad you liked the outfit…! x

  25. 21 September 2015 / 4:55 pm

    Great shoes!

Everything you are wearing looks great together!

Dream shoes? Hmmm, I'll have to think about that…

    • 23 September 2015 / 11:30 am

Hehe I think about dream shoe a lot too, Andrea…!! Thank you sweetie x

  26. 21 September 2015 / 4:16 pm

I only have 2 pair of expensive shoes, the ones I linked up (Kate Spade) and a Prada pair that my husband bought me a few months after we started dating. I also owned 2 pair of Mar Jacobs flats that I've totally worn out but worth their money!! My dream pair is Valentino Rockstuds, but apart from the price I'm not really sure they will look good on me!

    • 23 September 2015 / 11:30 am

Ohhhh, rockstuds… I dream about having a pair of them too!!! Your Kate Spades are super pretty Anna – thank you for linking up! x

  27. 21 September 2015 / 4:12 pm

What a beautiful coat! It's just splendid! 🙂

    • 23 September 2015 / 11:29 am

Aww Laurie thank you – I love it too :))

    • 23 September 2015 / 11:29 am

Thank you Manuela – I totally agree about the animal print!! x

  28. 21 September 2015 / 3:28 pm

I adore that trench on you. It's such a fabulous print and gives va va voom to a classic item.

    • 23 September 2015 / 11:28 am

Classic with a twist, eh Jacqueline…?!! Thank you hun x

  29. 21 September 2015 / 2:53 pm

This is one of the most beautiful trenches I've ever seen! And the shoes are just awesome!

    • 23 September 2015 / 11:28 am

It is a beauty, isn't it Olga…?! Thank you sweetie x

  30. 21 September 2015 / 2:17 pm

Dear Catherine, I LOVE every single piece of your outfit, so gorgeous! The shoes are amazing and that trench, AND the skirt, everything. I have 2 pairs of Jimmy Choos that I really adore but must say they aren't more comfy as a cheaper pair lol. Much love your way, Kirsten xx

    http://www.thelifbissue.com

    • 23 September 2015 / 11:26 am

Aww Kirsten thank you!! And I agree about the Jimmy Choos – I wore some on a photo shoot earlier this year and they were THE most uncomfortable shoes I've ever tried on. It was probably a lot to do with the style, but still…!
