Summer dressing is so easy – I always miss it when autumn rolls around.
A simple floral midi dress is just about the most uncomplicated outfit you can wear all year. I first wore this Boden dress on the Good Housekeeping photo shoot in January (it wasn’t featured in the end) and loved it so much I bought one as soon as it went on sale.
I added white block-heeled sandals and the most fabulous statement choker necklace I bought for myself as a treat for my birthday. I like how it echoes the little gold bars on the sandals and matches my Peach Melba toenails (all pure coincidence, I can assure you). Block heels are my go-to new shoe shape right now; they provide a little height but are pretty much as comfortable as flats. I want to get as much wear out of these as I can before the cold starts getting to my toes…!
Is there a particular shoe shape you’re obsessed with right now? What do you think of block heels – are they for you or not? Do let me know in the comments!

Very pretty dress and love your necklace! I don't own any blocked heels but if I did, they would probably be a bit taller. I need all the help I can get π
Thank you for joining TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you next week.

It is a very elegant dress. And although your choker necklace looks nice on it, I think it also deserves an outing with more attention drawn to it. Like on a solid blue background perhaps. What am I doing hahaha… I am giving you tips. I do apologize.

Man…that necklace is a looker!!! I have to say I'm not a huge block heel fan…maybe they remind me of my grandmother's shoes? But as long as the front part of the shoe is cute…I'd probably wear them! jodie

Catherine, you are so stunning! Love how your hair looks strikingly beautiful with the printed summer dress. The rose prints on the dress and the combination with bottle green makes it lovely! Thanks for sharing this outfit with us on the link up.

I, for one, am pleased block heels are around as they are sooo much more comfortable than teetering around on spindly heels. I want to be able to stride out with confidence and not worry I'll break my ankle when heels! This kind of dress is so versatile. Ideal for a day out but equally can be dressed up. A great look.

this dress is SO PRETTY! i love it!!!
Lovely dress – pink and green is one of my favourite colour combinations for summer!
Our summer heat is making a pause right now but the forecast is quite promising and same as you I want to wear dresses and open shoes as long as I can…
I love the tailored top and fuller skirt of your gorgeous Boden dress! Your shoes are lovely and block heels are so comfy!:-)

I hope you can still wear your summer clothes for quite a while
You look lovely! I just bought a midi dress similar in style to this one… I actually found it in a charity shop for next to nothing! I won't be wearing it with block heels though because I find them a bit too 'clompy' for want of a better word! I struggle to walk in them lol! I'm not sure what I'll be wearing with it yet… but that's part of the fun, right?

I love this dress and it is very definitely YOUR shape. I love a tunic dress, something which you have commented on before. It is my go-to dress style and one which I find is versatile for all occasions and all weathers! You look fab as always my lovely friend #TurningHeadsTuesday Love Liz xxx http://www.whatlizyloves.com
So pretty (and summery! it's rainy and cold in Scotland, sob). Those shoes are a winner, comfy looking and stylish to boot, definitely on my holiday shoe wishlist! I love the hint of modern edginess the necklace gives this very feminine dress as well, you always have such a lovely yin/yang balance with your accessories!
Thank you Steff – sorry to hear about the Scottish weather, though it's very hit-and-miss down here in the SW too! It's a gorgeous day today but tomorrow rain is predicted :((
Catherine-
As always, you look beautiful. My favorite thing? The little bit of gray peeking thru at the roots, and the start of laugh lines around the eyes. You look authentic. Not photoshopped to death. I color my hair, I wear makeup, I try to take good care of myself and at the end of the day, I'm 48. I have earned every single gray hair and every single laugh line I will ever be fortunate enough to have. I just want to say thank you for showing your true beauty and sharing your outfit inspirations with the rest of us looking for a way to stay beautiful.
Regards,
Tami
Tami what a lovely comment, thank you…!! I have to admit I did cringe a bit when I saw how visible my roots were when I saw the photos, but it was a day or two before they were due to be done so this is them at their worst. There's no hiding the fact that I am VERY grey – I've been dyeing my hair for so long I really have no idea just how white my hair actually is – but truthfully I dye it because I want red hair, not because I want to cover the grey. One day I will let it go au naturel… one day!!
And unlike some women, I do actually like my lines around my eyes. It's something I've always found very attractive on other people, men and women! Thanks again for your touching words, they meant a lot!

Aww Gemma thank you!! I was really drawn to how unusual the pattern was, it makes a nice change to the usual florals you see π
Hi Catherine,
I am glad to see that you getting that lovely dress out, at last…it has been a long time coming!
We have had a warm 2 days here, in Scotland,… I can hardly believe the thermometer was telling me it was 23 degrees today after being so cold recently!
So, I felt I had to get one last 'summery' outfit out today as well.
Summer is saying cheerio and it is sad to see the garden looking rangey and the colours fading from the flowers.
Speaking of colour, I love the colours of your dress…who knew hot pink would go so well with red hair?
Your 'accidental' toe match is such a lovely touch.
As for the block heels question. Personally, I love them.
They are tricky to wear with a skinny ankle (like mine) but I just do it anyway …
Your shoes look Great, pretty comfortable too (which is always a nice bonus to looking good)

I thought I was never going to get to wear it, Samantha, the way the weather's been lately…!! Thank you so much my lovely – tbh I don't see how having slim ankles can make ANY shoe style bad, I'd kill for great legs and slim ankles!!! xx
Such a pretty dress. You look so pretty! The pint and white shoes combination suits you so much. Love seeing new outfit posts on your blog as usual xx
Aww Debonita thank you so much, that's so sweet of you xx
The whole outfit is gorgeous. I can't take my eyes off the necklace though!
Thank you Melissa – it's a beauty, isn't it…?! x
