Summer Dressing | Elongate Legs With High Waisted Denim Shorts & Nude Heels

High waisted denim shorts & floral shirt
Although it feels like the heatwave of a few weeks ago has properly passed, we're still getting the odd hot day here and there in the UK. So my small collection of shorts - each pair not usually worn more than once or twice a year (if at all) - has actually seen the light of day quite a lot this summer. I love these high waisted 1970s style beauties with their dark rinse and exceptionally deep waistband - and all those buttons... love 'em!

I still find it hard not to insist on wearing heels with shorts, however, unless completely impractical... nude heels are one of the most wondrous inventions of the last decade for elongating legs, especially in the summer when they're more on show. The floral shirt is getting a bit thin, but it's an old fave and a perfect throw-on at the end of a hot day. I roll it out every year and haven't yet tired of the psychedelic pattern - it lends itself quite nicely to 70s-style shorts.

So I haven't yet tired of the summer at all (show me a Brit who has) - but I get the feeling that those of you that experience really hot summers every year are looking forward to cooler weather... is this you? Are you ready for autumn to happen - let me know!

  1. Loving the summer still and glad you are still posting lovely summer outfits!! I have a feeling Autumn may well be kind to us this year as well. I don't want to embrace warmer clothes just yet. X

  2. Fabulous, as always...love the top! I can't wear high wasted anything due to my elfin size and the fact my torso is only about 4 inches long! Typically it's ridiculously hot and humid here, but this summer has been weirdly cool...the leaves are already changing. Kinda makes me fear the winter to come!

  8. Oh my goodness this looks GOOD on you. So sexy, such great legs. Perfectly styled as usual. (It also brings me back to my younger days when I had such shorts too... sigh..)

  14. Those shoes are awesome. We are in the last vestiges of summer here...I'm enjoying wearing the pieces for the last time knowing fall fashion is right around the corner.

  15. I'm such a fan of high waisted shorts ... they look so ladylike, and particularly nice with your wonderful figure. Good tutorial, again. I know better than to wear them these days, but you beautify our world by helping the young 'uns do it with some serious style!

  18. Your shorts are too perfect. I've been on the hunt for a similar pair all summer long, but failed to find ones that fit the way I wanted them to. Oh well. Maybe next summer :P
