Well this was exciting… we went out-out! With other people! There were drinks! There was food! And dancing!
In these Covid times, all of that frivolity feels like it should be so hedonistic, and I’ll be honest – it felt it. Eating with other people around a table – oooh. Having drinks – hang on a minute. Being told we were allowed to dance… lead me to that dance floor!!
It was our first proper outing since the pandemic started – yes, we’ve been out for meals and even had a family garden party, but we haven’t done anything with any kind of “party” aspect to it. And it was GOOD. It felt normal. To see and interact with other, new-to-me people (especially as I only knew the bride and groom, they’re our neighbours but also the bride is a work colleague of Keith’s) was quite a treat.
I think you get the idea…!

I hadn’t planned this outfit at all. It really was a last-minute “what shall I wear” decision: I’d actually planned to wear a dress. I thought I’d open my wardrobe and pick one, but what happened was that I saw the terracotta jumpsuit I’d just ordered from Asos hanging on my wardrobe door. I hadn’t yet decided to keep it, but I think if you’re invited to just the evening reception of a wedding then you can go a bit more “party outfit” than “wedding guest outfit”, and that helped me make the decision to Keep rather than Return.
And the jumpsuit was SUCH a perfect fit on me that I could throw it on with a few accessories in the shape of those orange strappy mules (again!), gold jewellery and the pearl phone holder bag (similar). The pink cami looked so much better than the white vest top I first tried – covering up my back with white t-shirt fabric just didn’t work as it spoiled the plunge v-back.
So I was very happy with this outfit, and we had a fabulous time. The “dance floor” was actually just a gazebo outside on the lawn. We were all a bit confused with what the current regulations and restrictions with all that stuff were, we just did as we were told with when and where to wear masks, dance, socialise, etc…!
It’s honestly not a hardship to do these things, but I will admit I’ll be glad when conversations don’t revolve around masks and social distancing and jabs and anything Covid-related. I have my second jab on Sunday and couldn’t be more glad about it. Normality is on the horizon.
Have you had the opportunity to attend any weddings so far this year – what were the restrictions and protocol for you?
Stay safe, XOXO

ermagerd, I LOOOOOVE this on you! I went to buy one for myself and all sold out. Fabulous outfit, I adore how you styled this, C style, with the pink top underneath. GORGE!

Thanks Lisa…! It seems quite a few people have gone to buy it, I got one of the last ones but it kept coming in and out of stock so I was lucky. Don’t give up, keep trying!! x
Catherine,
Brand new to your blog and wanted to say hello!
That jumper color and style is great on you!
I am so glad that you were able to get out and have a fun night of drinks and dancing!
We have not been to any weddings this year but attended two late last year. The lockdowns are not as heavy here in the Southeast, USA.

Oh wow hi Lindy – nice to see you here! Thank you for the lovely comment, and I’m glad to hear your lockdowns haven’t been so restrictive… but I do hope you’re all safe!! x
So pretty is that jumpsuit! Even nicer to see you looking so healthy and happy, both inside and out. I’ve been to two weddings in the last 2 months and it was wonderful. We’ve lifted all masks & distancing restrictions, but these were both all outside, so it was even more comfortable. Hope it’s the same for y’all soon.

Aww MK you’re such a love, thank you ever so much! That’s lovely to hear you’ve been to weddings too – we have another to go to next month (an all-weekend affair) and can’t wait! x
Beautiful jumpsuit, Catherine! It is absolutely perfect for a wedding reception. I am so glad that you had the occasion to dress up and go out and dance and socialize! We attended a music festival a few weeks ago and that was my first outing in a really long while. It was wonderful to be around people!

Hehe thanks Shelbee… it all felt a bit weird tbh!! 😉 How nice that you went to a music festival – I don’t think we’ll ever take these things for granted anymore, will we!
Gorgeous in orange and pink and these are, after all, your signature colors. I spent a Saturday out with friends all day in a neighbouring tourist town, had lunch in a nice restaurant, walked around, toured an old Mission (which was packed, and there was a wedding,) and the cafes had live music. It was interesting how everything got back to normal, but it was also like a confusing time warp. Many shops and restaurants are permanently closed and shuttered here in California. There’s a labor shortage in the service industry (because unemployment benefits were very high,) which accounts for some of it. So, it was both exhilarating and a wee bit dystopian. Here, some businesses prospered and some will never reopen. But it was so good for the soul to finally have the restaurants fully open and be out with people, and see people celebrating.

I guess it was inevitable that I’d add pink to the orange mix, Liz…! 😉 Funny you should say about the labour shortage: we have the same down here in SW England. Tourism is probably the biggest industry down here and there’s a massive shortage of workers apparently. I do fear for some of the wonderful bars, cafes, restaurants and tourist attractions we have if they don’t have a good summer…
Compliments for great styling to that gorgeous jumpsuit! Now I’m only angry that it’s out of stock.. 🙂

Hehe 😉 thank you Anki – I listed it because it seems to be going in and out of stock… keep checking, it may come back in in your size (fingers crossed)!
Absolutely stunning look SO glad you got to do something somewhat normal again, looking forward to its return here as well

Thank you Heide – amazing how normal is so welcome!!
We attended a wedding in May! It was our first venture out to socialize since the pandemic and it was wonderful !!!!!

I’m so glad you had a good time, Catherine! x
Superb jumpsuit which looks terrific on you. I love the accessories too. Especially the phone bag. What a neat solution.
Greetje
(I haven’t stopped following you. Just have little time to comment since I am retired. Sounds weird but is true.)

Thank you so much Greetje – and please don’t apologise, when my parents retired they became busier than they’ve ever been, lol!!
I love that you added a pink cami to the orange jumpsuit, Catherine. It really makes it pop! You look fabulous – perfect party wear! We haven’t been to any parties yet, but we have been invited to a proper wedding in October. Trouble is, it’s in England and we’re in Portugal. Really not sure what will happen. Fingers crossed we can get there!

Thanks Suzy, and yes I loved the pink cami with it too (I can’t tell you how bad the white vest top looked)!! And oh, I do hope you get to come here for your wedding in October, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you…
