Dresses with tiered skirts seem to be this year’s style of choice, and I’m all over it.
Add a square neckline with straps and a few discreet ruffles and I’m happy as Larry. This dress* – part of my Instagram collab with JD Williams – came in a gorgeous mustard/black/ecru tropical floral print (I think? Would you say that’s tropical?) and I was challenged to style it my way.
So I COULD have left it as it was and just added shoes or sandals… but hey, this is me and I don’t do minimalism, do I?!

The bag* (sold out, sorry), belt* (only in black now, ughh this isn’t going well) and mule sandals* (the brand is Dune but available on the JDW website) were what I chose as part of the collab. I’ve already worn them all loads already, probably because they’re all neutral colours.
And a little note about those sunglasses… when I saw them I knew I HAD to have them – they’re almost identical to the black frame/yellow lenses glasses I had a pair of in the 90s. Except the shape was a lot more narrow back then. But a little nostalgia never hurt anyone, did it?!
Have you noticed how the tiered skirt shape is a bit of a thing this year (are you into the tiers)? And if you had a similar pair of glasses in the 90s – SHOUT!! lol ; -)
Stay safe, XOXO

This is something I like wearing in the spring, especially the first day after winter is over, that it is nice enough to wear something like this, with a pair of sandals or sandalette heels, but WITHOUT pantyhose! I mention that because pantyhose season is just around the corner.

It doesn’t get warm enough in the UK to wear anything like this usually until AT LEAST July, Laurette: we had such a lousy summer this year I think we probably had a grand total of five days when it was warm to wear this sort of outfit!!! 😉
I love this outfit, head to toe Catherine! The print has a fabulous tropical vibe, which I love and I too, love the tiered dresses and square neckline! I have a dress I just bought with these features. Your accessories are perfect with this, love the sunglasses!
Love the skirts, the white and the denim one are favorites, really they all look great!
I am the same where I wear mostly denim shorts and dresses in the summer.
thanks for linking!

Thanks so much Amber – you too 😀
Fabulous dress, Catherine! I love the print and the colors and the tiers. You have accessorized it brilliantly! I really like your sandals, too. And the flat style of slide is so pretty with this dress, too. Great outfit!

Gorgeous dress, and the belt MAKES the outfit (AND shows off your tiny waist)! Well-done, you!

Aww thank you MK – I rather love the belt too 😀
Love the print and your styling! Personally not a fan of the tiered trend that seems to be everywhere. Ruffles and fluff have never been my fashion choice. That said, you look wonderful!

Thanks Christine – I’m not usually one for ruffles either but I thought they were quite subtle on this dress…!
Aaah, lovely. This is such a Catherine look. So pretty and definitely tropical! xxxx

I’m going with the tropical description too, Liz…! 😉 Thank you lovely x
