I’ve mentioned it a couple of times here on the blog but in case you missed it: my first ever Etsy shop – Not Lamb Home – is open!
Alluded to as my new “What I’ve Been Working On During Lockdown” project a few months ago, I forced myself to have it up and running in time for my Christmas gift guide full of indie and local sellers that I publish annually.
So if you like bold, colourful homewares that are more than a little kitsch, look no further…!

I can’t quite remember exactly what started it off exactly, but during Lockdown 1.0 (we are now a few days into post-Lockdown 2.0 here in the UK, hello tiers system) I had the obligatory clear out that every man, women and their dog were having. And some things were still appealing to me, but the colours were not.

A purchase of a few spray cans later and I was well on my way to making everything in my house that wasn’t the right colour, the right colour. One thing led to another and I became highly addicted to imagining what all sorts of things would look like if they were different colours. A trip into a charity shop (once they reopened sometime back in the summer) resulted in me coming home with a bag of goodies ready to be spray-painted, because what else was I going to do with the rest of the paint left in the spray cans?!
So without further ado, here are details of my Etsy shop Not Lamb Home and the items that I currently have on sale. I HAVE MANY MORE THAT I’M LISTING ALL THE TIME, so don’t think these items are exhaustive!

Warning: things are selling quickly – and they’re all one-offs
While I don’t want to sound dramatic (well, actually I DO revel in that, but this is absolutely true) – things are selling VERY quickly. A LOT quicker than I expected, in fact. I’ve been mentioning my new shop on Instagram stories as well and it seems whenever I mention the shop on Instagram or the blog, I get a sale pretty quickly.
Which is AMAZING for me, but not so great for you if you see something you like as it might go very, very quickly – and that’s it, gone. I’m not intending to repeat the same things over and over as just about everything I’ve upcycled has been other people’s cast-offs, or I’ve got them from charity shops, or they’ve been sitting in my loft in a box marked “car boot sale” or similar.
I might find another item similar to one I’ve already done and upcycle it in another colour, but everything is, by all intents and purposes, going to be unique.
SO IF YOU WANT IT, I’D SAY GET IT SOONER RATHER THAN LATER.

Lead time and delivery charges (free to UK!)
Every item is free delivery to the UK, so if you buy something one week and then something else the next week when I have new things come in, it won’t make you think, Oh gawd I just bought something and paid for delivery, I should have waited. It’s only fair when things are one-offs that you get to buy them straight away without thinking you need to accumulate anything and wait to save on delivery costs… and potentially miss out on something you love.
HOWEVER – and this is a big caveat – I do offer international delivery, but it’s incredibly expensive for me to post things. I was SO shocked at the price of the smallest, lightest box to send overseas via the standard Royal Mail service when I popped into the post office last week that I kept asking the girl behind the counter if the price was correct. Basically I’m charging what I’m being charged, so I’m not making any money on postage (just want you to know I’m not taking the piss where postage charges are concerned. It really IS that expensive).
One of my lovely readers very kindly said – when she enquired about posting to the US and I explained the charges to her – that she wasn’t bothered about the price, but she wanted to support people and brands that she loves this year, no matter the cost. If you too are able to do that and you love my wares enough to buy something, I will love you FOREVER.

How you can support me (even WITHOUT making a purchase!)
Even if these pieces aren’t your thing (and let’s face it, they’re an acquired taste: pretty bold and In Your Face, but that’s the point… remind you of anyone’s personal style?!), there a few things you can do to support me:
- If you already have an Etsy account, go to my Not Lamb Home shop page and hit “Favourite this shop” (like the Instagram ‘like’ button, i.e. the heart icon). Lots of favourites make it looks popular which, you know, just looks good and gives the shop a bit of welly.
- Share any of my Instagram stories or posts when I feature the shop or specific items. This helps my Instagram too.
- If you know someone who would appreciate this bold, kitsch style, please do send them a link to my shop (copy and paste this: https://www.etsy.com/shop/NotLambHome). In the app there’s a Share button at the top of the page (the icon of the u-shaped box with an ‘up’ arrow in it), or just email them the link.
- This last one DOES involve a purchase, but once you have received your item, I’d really appreciate a review. Obviously as I’m starting out I have none, and I need to build them up. Reviews will REALLY help me.
Thank you in advance if you do any of these things for me…!
Mailing list for Not Lamb Home
And lastly, if you like these items but there isn’t anything right now that you want to buy, I have a mailing list that’ll let drop you an email when new items have been listed: http://eepurl.com/hkfyGr – I won’t feature anything on Instagram until the email has been sent. You get first dibs if you’re on the mailing list.
Happy shopping, and thank you for the support (I’ve been blown away by the support I’ve had already, and it’s only been just over a week)!
Do you have any feedback for me in terms of colours you’d like to see, or specific items you’d like for your home (or gifts to buy for people)? I can’t promise I can do commissioned pieces as everything is upcycled (what I find to upcycle is just luck), but I’ll see what I can do…!
Stay safe XOXO

These pieces are all being worked on or are going to be listed very soon – here’s a little sneak peek before anyone else has seen them (excuse the iPhone pictures and crappy lighting)! The colours of the items you see are pretty accurate however – and yes that’s neon pink you see.
Remember: if you’re desperate for any of these, sign up to the mailing list and you’ll be the first to know when they’ve been listed (I’m really sorry but I can’t reserve anything).
Also coming soon: Mid-century modern gazelles (like the giraffes you see below), more trinket trays, and large chalkboards with baroque-style frames. Plus larger furniture pieces like dining chairs, coffee tables and bedside cabinets. I’m going to be very busy over the festive period…!

Congratulations! This is a great idea – and now that everyone has done the obligatory Covid purge, there is probably no shortage of kitsch for you to transform into new treasures! Good luck!
I was delighted to get my pink pot and green bottle – safely delivered yesterday – I LOVE THEM!
Such a colourful, fun way of giving new life to less than new stuff!!
This is so exciting Catherine! I adore every piece, it’s all so MCM cool. Have you thought about an Instagram account for your shop? I can imagine it’d be a popular search on there plus it has become quite a big sellers platform. I follow a few etsy shops on insta. One artist constantly sells out faster than she can create!
I know this is going to be big, congratulations mate
Congratulations!!!!
Everything looks great!!!
here to a very successful store!!!
Big chuckles – and best wishes – for your new Etsy shop. It’s a soecial gift to be artistic xxxx
