An Ingenious Travel Hand Luggage Bag That Lets You Go Hands-Free

A stylish, hard-working hand luggage bag that lets you go hands-free at a very affordable price? What is this sorcery?! #Halloweenreference

[Reading time: 3 minutes]

(Did you notice the reading time above? You’ll see that on all posts from now on. This is a shorter post (let’s say “for me” – I’ll get the hang of writing less eventually), because I asked what you thought about bite-sized content in last Thursday’s post. Although the prize draw is open till the end of Sunday and I’d still love to get your thoughts on my new proposed format for the blog, it seems the idea of shorter content is very popular with people. It makes sense as we’re all so busy!)

So in my attempt to bring you shorter content more often, here we go…

Today I’m highlighting Mia Tui, an independent UK brand that makes an ingenious travel hand luggage bag I thought was worth introducing to you. I saw their bags on Instagram and thought WOW I NEED ONE OF THOSE (I’ll get to its really clever design feature in a minute). A large tote bag with lots of clever features that’s perfect for travelling AND a really reasonable price? I’m all over it.

Disclosure: I was gifted this bag by Mia Tui under no obligation (all content is original and opinions are 100% honest). This blog uses affiliate links at no cost to you. Full disclosure

Mia Tui very kindly gifted me the (very large, and I mean large) Jennie Travel Bag in mustard yellow, which, although it’s no longer available in that colour (well, I couldn’t see it), there are 17 other colours to choose from.

I loved it so much – and have been using it so much – that I thought I’d talk about it here.

The really clever feature that lets you go hands-free

So lots of colours, great quality and a fantastic brand ethic are all great reasons to consider this bag.

But BEST OF ALL, the Jennie Travel Bag has a pocket on the back that slips over the handle of a standard suitcase, so your bag sits securely on top of your case as you wheel it around or leave it standing.

That feature alone had me sold because it’s solved that annoying problem of your hand luggage or tote bag slipping off the top of your case as you’re wheeling it around, all the while trying to free your hands up.

Such a simple idea. It works like a DREAM.

That’s it! What else do you really need to know? If you’re not yet sold or you just want to know more about Mia Tui or the Jennie bag, read on…

About Mia Tui and its female founder

This brand was set up by mum of two Charlotte Jamme in 2010 who, like a lot of mums and busy women, couldn’t find a bag with more than one pocket and one zipped compartment inside. So she designed a bag that had numerous pockets and compartments including a key clip, insulated bottle holder, phone pocket and pen pockets. The Jennie bag also comes with matching accessory bags: one clear for liquids on planes and a small clutch in the same colour for a dinner date or similar.

Bloody brilliant.

I’m all for championing women in business, especially when the product is this good. Go Charlotte, I say.

Product spec, delivery and returns, etc.

As far as the design goes, it doesn’t really look like hand luggage, more like a very large tote. So I can use it when going up on the train to London for work for the day and it doesn’t look like I’ve brought a holdall.

There aren’t just a couple of colours to choose from, there are about 17: rose gold, coral, black, matt silver, tan, aubergine, pale blue, etc., etc. I’d love me a coral or rose gold one too (surprise, surprise)!

Here’s the interior showing the compartments and pockets…

It’s large, 40cm wide by 25cm high. Lots of room for my wallet, makeup bag, water bottle, sunglasses, phone, camera, reading glasses, a book, and so on. You can fit a TON of stuff in there. There’s a smaller version, the Mini Jen, if that sounds too big for you.

Mia Tui is a vegan brand. No animal-based products are used throughout the whole range. And they also make cross body bags, backpacks, work bags… not just hand luggage bags. All in multiple colours.

They have great ethics. Mia Tui offer a training programme in Vietnam for the employees in the factory where the products have been made for the last eight years. It provides unskilled employees the opportunity to earn a skill for life.

UK delivery is free over £25. International delivery is £5.99 to everywhere else in the world (SO reasonable)!

Returns are not free, but Mia Tui offers one free exchange on UK orders. I’m always wary of buying from retailers where you have to pay for returns yourself, but it’s not like shoes or clothes that may not fit. I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed with the quality of the bags, so it’s unlikely you’ll want to return anything. They are a small business, so fair enough that they can’t cover the cost of returns.

The (oh-so-reasonable) price (& DISCOUNT CODE!)

And finally: you get all of that for just… £55.00. What the what?! I think that’s INCREDIBLY reasonable.

Moreover, if you use the discount code NDAL15 this will give you 15% off full-price items (do note that it’s not valid when used with any other discount/bundle code). So you could get a Jennie for the even MORE bargainous price of £46.75!

I’ve used my Jennie bag so much – both with a suitcase and without – and it’s been brilliant every time (I swear it’s made from the same stuff they make the Tardis from, I can fit so much in there).

And with that, I’m off to pack my suitcase and Jennie bag for a weekend away with my fitness retreat girlfriends in the Cotswolds (booze and pub grub WILL be allowed, wish me luck). Have a Happy Halloween and a fabulous weekend!

What do you think of this clever design and that “suitcase handle pocket”? Tell me in the comments!
