It’s time to feature fabulous women in fabulous outfits again…
I’m away on my detox retreat once more this week, so this has been scheduled in advance. It’s always so fun and inspiring researching this bi-monthly post, so let’s get straight on with September’s Women Who Wear What They Like post.
There didn’t to be any particular theme running through the outfits that caught my eye this time – they’re just all very creative, very easy to wear and very stylish. Separates featured more than I thought; I banked on dresses being the overriding outfit of choice for the summer, but the cookie crumbled mostly into separates and co-ords in terms of the ones I chose!
Just to explain a little about this feature…
Each month I look at all the thumbnails on my weekly #iwillwearwhatilike link ups and pick my favourites to feature here. I also add three outfits from elsewhere in the blogosphere that inspired me (1. a blogger who didn’t link up but I wish had; 2. the blogger with the most inspirational photo shoot, and 3. the blogger with the most jaw-dropping outfit). Of course this is all purely subjective, but it’s my chance to be a little indulgent and showcase the outfits that inspired me the most.
And the bit I always mention:
These women dress however they like. They dress to express their personality and have an incredible sense of style, whether that’s classic, on-trend, boho, preppy, glam, granny chic, etc.
There are NO STYLE RULES. No one has to be ‘trendy’, or wearing the latest styles to be featured.
No one has to have that typical LIKEtoKNOWit/Instagram style. No one has to be a particular age. No one has to be a particular shape or size.
I’m still looking for more women to join the link up: although I LOVE the fact that there are those that link up regularly, we need more diversity. Please do send a link to this post to anyone you think has great style and is willing to link up on a Tuesday to #iwillwearwhatilike for a chance to be featured in this bi-monthly feature post!
A note about getting yourself featured…
It’s only fair – if you link up – that you give a little back to the community and comment on my post if you can – and a few others – to show your support please (and it helps in terms of getting yourself featured)!
Without further ado, let’s get straight onto these fabulous women…
9 Fabulous Women Who Wear What They Like
Style Splash
Emma wore Scotch & Soda co-ords that she got in the sale, and I ADORE those autumnal colours. The “ready made” pattern clash of animals and a geometric print is inspired… and those earrings are perfection with the outfit.
Living Outside the Stacks
Daenel looks amazing in faux leather pants, and they work brilliantly contrasted with a pretty floral blouse. The icing on the cake: those drop earrings in my favourite coral colour.
The Style Safari
Stefanie’s jeans have the most perfect turn up ever (though I think it’s a contrasting band of denim?) and the flowy animal print blouse is fabulous. I’m not normally one to fall for Western-inspired looks, but I love this.
Project Minima
Pao’s lilac patterned dress is so pretty and the blue edging compliments those cute-as-anything socks – the knotted scarf at the waist looks like it’s actually part of the dress. Very clever styling.
Lady 50Plus
Lady in red Martina looks like an absolute bombshell in a red trouser suit! This convinces me that EVERY women needs a red suit in her wardrobe. Plus: earrings. Lush.
Nancy’s Fashion Style
Nancy’s wearing All The Colours here, and I love the mix. The strong pastels are very harmonious, and of course I’m always drawn to any outfit with orange in it.
✷ ✷ ✷ ✷ ✷
So those were the bloggers that linked up to #iwillwearwhatilike – now I want to share some bloggers who weren’t part of the link up, but whose outfits made me look twice. Each month I’ll pick one for each of these three categories…
The blogger that didn’t link up (but I wish she had…)
The Middle Page
Cathy wore an outfit from JC Penny – and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but she received some absolute hatred in the comments section on her blog. I have no idea what JC Penny is like as a brand (being a Brit) so that part went completely over my head, but the trolling she received was totally unjustified. I LOVE this outfit – she absolutely shone in my Bloglovin feed – so do please show her some support… Cathy, if you link up to #iwillwearwhatilike here on a Tuesday you’ll receive nothing but love, I assure you!
The blogger with the most inspirational photoshoot
Bittersweet Colours
Ah, Veronica… oh, the light in this photo shoot was heavenly! Not only was the lightweight peach summer dress a dream, but it blended beautifully with the warm tones of the stone in the background. Do click through to see the rest of the photos, her blog is always full of the most GORGEOUS images and locations.
The blogger with the most jaw-dropping outfit
Natalie Off Duty
If this outfit had just been described to me and you’d said “red tights with lilac shoes” I’d have been sold right there and then. Natalie’s red, black and lilac outfit is simple yet incredibly sexy AND somewhat modest at the same time (if that’s possible). There are several other outfits in the same blog post, don’t miss those either as they’re just as stunning.
I hope you enjoyed this post of this monthly series; remember, it usually goes out on the second Wednesday of the month (as always I had to move things round a bit as I’m away and had to schedule way in advance) so if you don’t want to miss any more then make sure you sign up for email updates!
Which was your favourite outfit? Tell me in the comments!
The pastel peach color dress is stunning!
Hello Catherin,
thank you so much for showing me on this wonderful Gallery. I like it to wear red outfits – of course – the LADY 50plus in red.
XO Martina from Munich
Wow, those ladies have style!! They are all amazing in their own ways, to be sure. I loved Nancy’s mix of colors and now know I must get a red suit!! Thanks for sharing.
xx Darlene
Oh, and really??? Mean comments to Cathy for that gorgeous outfit? One can find fashionable items anywhere with the right eye, including JC Penney, and Cathy found it!
My two cents,
xx Darlene

I have absolutely no preconceptions about JC Penny, Darlene – I have no idea what they’re like as a brand – but NO ONE deserves that sort of vitriol on their blog, do they?? If they had such an issue with the brand go rant at them, not Cathy. I also thought her outfit was fabulous… all brands, as long as they have ethical values, deserve a chance.
Anyway thank you for your comments, glad you loved these fabulous women! 😀
My fav is the red pant suit, very classy x

And for the second time, Nancy…! And thank you for supporting Cathy, she didn’t deserve the trolling she got 🙁
All the outfits are stunning, the one I would like to wear is Nancy’s. Such creative use of colour!
