It’s been a whole two months since my last Women Who Wear What They Like feature… time to roll out my favourites again!
I love, love, LOVE going through the #iwillwearwhatilike linkups and picking outfits that jump out at me. We’re in the full swing of summer now (with a few cold Southern Hemisphere outfits too of course), and what I noticed was that there was an abundance of stripes. Stripes, stripes, and more fabulous stripes!
I always thought that summer brought out the florals big time, but maybe florals are for spring (groundbreaking…) and stripes are for summer. So that leaves tartan for winter. Or is tartan for autumn? Someone PLEASE tell me what patterns denote autumn and winter…
Well now that that tangent has been well and truly exhausted, back to the lovely ladies of July’s Women Who Wear What They Like.
I’m still a little bit all over the place with my posting schedule as losing Riley at the end of last month meant my routine was thrown out for quite a while, so I shifted the usual second Wednesday of every other month for this feature to today’s Share All Link Up, and I think I’ll start publishing these on the second Sunday of every other month instead (a bit like me recently shifting The Best of the Blogosphere posts to Sundays).
Now that I’ve finished my incredibly interesting and gripping intro (god forbid future posts begin with three paragraphs that dull! 😂), I’ll just explain the feature (so you know how get featured next time) and let the ladies’ outfits do the talking.
Some slightly more enthralling prose is in order this Sunday, methinks.
Just to explain a little about this feature…
Each month I look at all the thumbnails on my weekly #iwillwearwhatilike link ups and pick my favourites to feature here. I also add three outfits from elsewhere in the blogosphere that inspired me (1. a blogger who didn’t link up but I wish had; 2. the blogger with the most inspirational photo shoot, and 3. the blogger with the most jaw-dropping outfit). Of course this is all purely subjective, but it’s my chance to be a little indulgent and showcase the outfits that inspired me the most.
And the bit I always mention:
These women dress however they like. They dress to express their personality and have an incredible sense of style, whether that’s classic, on-trend, boho, preppy, glam, granny chic, etc.
There are NO STYLE RULES. No one has to be ‘trendy’, or wearing the latest styles to be featured.
No one has to have that typical LIKEtoKNOWit/Instagram style. No one has to be a particular age. No one has to be a particular shape or size.
I’ll simply feature women that have impressed me AND my readers, those that had a high number of clicks on their link, etc.
I’m still looking for more women to join the link up: although I LOVE the fact that there are those that link up regularly, we need more diversity. Please do send a link to this post to anyone you think has great style and is willing to link up on a Tuesday to #iwillwearwhatilike for a chance to be featured in this bi-monthly feature post!
A note about getting yourself featured…
It’s only fair – if you link up – that you give a little back to the community and comment on my post and a few others to show your support please (and it helps in terms of getting yourself featured)!
Without further ado, let’s get straight onto these fabulous women…
9 Fabulous Women Who Wear What They Like
Alternative Ageing
Suzi is not only an expert at making vintage looks seem modern, but she knowwwwws colour. The red and pink – with her signature headscarf and sunglasses – are to die for.
Bon Chic Style
The first of a few pattern mixed outfits this month, Christine has put two different stripes together in a glorious blazer/shorts combo. Love the frilled blouse too.
Funky Forty
Yvonne has also (very subtly I might add) pattern mixed – stripes and gingham in pink and red respectively. You’d think the colours and all the frills would make this a very girly outfit, but no – I find it’s really chic and classy instead. Could it be the heels and bag? Who cares, I love it.
Suzy Turner
With her own take on Audrey Hepburn style, Suzy’s worn a simple, classic look and made it cute and summer-perfect.
What Lizzy Loves
Lizzy is wearing one of my favourite dress silhouettes; specifically, the Hobbs Twitchill. (It’s a style I have myself in black and white gingham.) Blue and white cotton-fresh stripes are the quintessential summer fabric IMO, and Liz looks summery and so beautiful in this striped dress.
Elegance Revisited
Tiina’s red and orange Marimekko dress is everything I want myself in a dress: bold pattern and colour, fabulous sleeves, long length. It’s an absolute beauty of a (summer) dress.
✷
So those were the bloggers that linked up to #iwillwearwhatilike – now I want to share some bloggers who weren’t part of the link up, but whose outfits made me look twice. Each month I’ll pick one for each of these three categories…
The blogger that didn’t link up (but I wish she had…)
The Good Weekender
Yup, more stripes. Liyana’s are black and white and wrapped up in a beautiful blouse with glorious balloon sleeves. Plus there’s those pointed white mules: LOVE. Pleeeeease link up to #iwillwearwhatilike so everyone can see more of your outfits on a regular basis, Liyana…!
The blogger with the most inspirational photoshoot
The Silver Stylist
This blew my socks off when it landed in my Inbox – Lisa’s photoshoot is absolutely incredible. It’s all about that Californian light and that fabulous dress and hat, and then there’s the wind blowing the fabric around… has Venice Beach – or Lisa – ever looked more beautiful?!
The blogger with the most jaw-dropping outfit
Styled Avenue
Aaaaaaaaargh the pattern mixing!! I’ve died and gone to pattern mixing heaven. These are two prints I would never have thought to put together, but they work SO well next to each other. And then there’s Meg’s fabulous hat and the necklaces, which just top it all off beautifully. So simple, so perfect, so dramatic.

I couldn’t agree with you more, Sherry! x
Ah, you picked some of my all time favorite bloggers in this feature, Catherine! They are all so inspiring and empowering and just all around amazing women! Great post! And your intro was not boring! This is what is so great about the blogging community, we love to read about the daily lives of our blogger friends. Although it may seem mundane to you because it is your life, we all find it quite fascinating!

Thank you Shelbee…! The boring bit was where I started jabbering on about days I’d be posting the different series posts and why, and I realised it wasn’t very interesting at all…!
I am absolutely delighted to be featured, Catherine! Thank you so much! I’m honoured to be among such wonderful gals <3
I've always thought of tartan as more of a winter print, purely because tartan fabrics are quite often thicker and warmer than others – but I could be wrong! I would've thought stripes were more Spring-like but clearly, I'm wrong about that too. Although, to be honest, I wear all prints all the time lol

It’s my absolute pleasure, Suzy!! And who knows about the prints and the seasons, though I think you’re right about tartan being a winter print…
So sorry about Riley. I know how devastating it is. Thank you for hosting the linkup

Bonjour Catherine!
Thank you SOOO much for the feature! I enjoy your blog tremendously and absolutely love your sense of style!
You are completely right about NO STYLES rules. Style is all about expressing your personality and not following the latest trends.
Hope you’re enjoying your summer so far.
Fondly,
Christine

Dear Catherine,

I am so sorry to hear about Riley.
My schedule is also all over the place at present – I have been working on a bigger project which has hiccups and excitement all in one and now my dear Mum is visiting for 4 weeks from NZ so I really want to spend some quality time with her…
Today I also wrote a fashion post near and dear to my heart and found myself asking my Mum “are you sure this in’t boring?”… in any case maybe you can let me know!

Thank you Yvonne, and it was my pleasure to feature you in all that glorious pink! I’m sure your post isn’t boring – I was referring to my lengthy explanation of which days I’d be posting what and why, and it turned into a total snoozefest… as long as you haven’t written that I’m sure it’s not at all dull! 😉
I think this is a first for me, I actually know and love everyone in today’s feature!
Usually I’m not so up to date
And Catherine, just an fyi, YOU could never be boring my friend. Whether you’re writing about what prints go with what season or different types of eyebrow trends, I love how you write xx
