It’s taken me a while to realise that chunky statement necklaces are all but over, and delicate jewellery is the style to be seen in right now.
As a 40-something year old I do tend to take what’s on-trend and what’s not all with a pinch of salt, but it’s very rare to see those big blingy crystal-covered necklaces in the stores – or there are very few, at least. The trend that’s taken over is fine, delicate jewellery in lots of layers, whether it be necklaces, rings or earrings.
So I’m not saying we should put away our statement necklaces for good (I have too many that I love dearly and will still wear!), but I’ve been seeing so many delicate pieces I love lately that I thought I’d show you a selection of what’s available to buy right now.
Want to see some of the times I’ve worn delicate jewellery pieces over the last few years…?
I actually favour this style more than I realised…! I don’t have any links for the ones I’m wearing because they’re no longer available (except for a similar monogram necklace, top right), but I hope you’ll love the 11 I’ve selected for this post.
So what’s really on trend right now are very minimal designs in gold, rose gold and silver, and delicate pieces layered up. Some of the ones I’ve selected are more minimal and some are less so. There are no bargain basement pieces here (cheap plain gold and silver pieces tarnish quickly and look super cheap) but none of my selection will break the bank either.
As we’re already in the second week of November it’s time to start thinking about Christmas presents – you can’t go wrong with some of these beautifully simple pieces – or why not treat yourself before the really serious Christmas shopping starts?
Either that or work out a way to get them on your Christmas wish list… Drop some not-so-subtle hints and make sure you get what you want this year!
Happy shopping 🙂

Lovely pieces Catherine! I mostly wear y or chunky necklaces because of my surgical scar but I would ove to try some of these out!
I love delicate jewellery is so pretty. Some lovely pieces you've chosen

Bit dismayed to hear that statement necklaces are out! But your delicate choices do look great. I'm a firm believer in updating jewellery (and never wearing "heritage" jewellery) as it's one of the easiest ways to look current.
They are, Gail – but then we never follow the rules, do we…?!! I still wear my big chunky necklaces, but then I'm loving all this delicate jewellery as well (best of both worlds)! x
Try stella & dot for quality, although not cheap, multi-layer pieces or pieces to wear in multi ways.
I will, Pixie – thanks for the tip!
Well, time to haul out all the delicate stuff that's been languishing in my jewelry box for the last 6-7 years! Thanks for the update on this, Catherine! I do love the long tassel necklaces, might need to find some of those!
hehe I have a lot of delicate pieces already as well, Sheila!! Glad you liked the picks, thank you x
Each piece looks super cute on you Catherine – which is your favourite?

Thanks Yvonne – to be honest I love them all (hence me coming up with 11 rather than just one or two!), but I did pick no.9 – the delicate layering chokers – to be in the lead image so I guess it'd be that one…!
